online racing won by drifting not by racing

Forza please fix the online racing. Its not annoying to go online to race other people to find out that whether you come in first or last and the one person whos drifting online is the one person that wins the championship. Then even if the person still gets DNF they still get the XP and Credit which is not realistic they should not get anything or very little reward if the person doesnt finish. Oh and its even worse when people use the Horizon Edition cars in online it just give the drifter some huge amount of points. which adds up at the end so even if their is one guy that manage to win every event in the championship he still loses just becasue someone is drifting the whole race and their not even drifting their just sliding from side to side to just get the points and win. Which is just ridiculous since your not even enjoying the game or the race your just trying to get points to just win and nothing else. It would be great if you can just make lobby were people can go drift there and not in a circuit race. for me personally their is no point in racing online if there are going to be people that just are xp farming themself online to rank up beacuse thats what they are doing. hell on the first day that I got online their were people that were already rank 300+ and i bought the ultimated edition so this was already happening before the game was fully release for everyone else.

You are absolutely right, I was thinking the same thing. What is the point trying to finish first(which is kinda the point of racing)when you can just slide around in your car the entire race. I thought I bought a racing game not a drifting game. They need to fix this pronto.

I’m level 399, I’ve been playing since 9/23 and almost all of my XP farming has come from legitimate racing (as opposed to drifting through fields- though done my fair share of tat too)

I race 15-25 laps of races in all circuits save Goliath where I usually do 2-5 lap races.

I’ve run on every track 63

I win online adventures by being 1st, 2nd or third, by NOT having collisions, being clean, and being fast in races. I am almost always on top of the XP championship but some times, not. lost one by under 1000 XP BUT who cares about it. 4 races 30k credits are you kidding me. Why does everyone let that bother them. Race, make friends with those that race you clean.

Yeah, this is a problem, though to be honest, I’ve used it. If I’m in an online lobby that refuses to race clean, then I just kick their butt by drifting the entire race. Clean racing yields a lot of XP too though, so when I can get some real racing done I’m usually top 3 as well.

I completely agree with your post. It’s more of a drifting event than a racing event. They should rename it the “Drifting Championship”. Points in a racing game should be based on your finishing position, not how much of XP is gained from drifting skills. I use the word “skills” lightly when referring to drifting. It takes more skill to turn into a corner at the right speed and angle to then accelerate properly out of the turn. I hope the developers fix this. I really enjoyed the single player mode, but the online mode is lacking. Have a drifting championship if you must for those that are not good at racing, but also add a racing championship that allows people that are good at racing to have a reason to play the online component.

Neglecting the fact that you responded to a thread that is two and a half weeks old and created before many of the XP exploits were fixed…

You do in fact gain more experience from finishing high in the order. From what I have seen, 1st place gets the most experience from finishing the race. 2nd place gets less, 3rd place gets a bit less than 2nd, than all other places get the same amount. This is the direct benefit to racing well. However: racing up front also has another huge XP benefit: Clean racing. Keeping a Clean Racing streak active most if not all of a race can easily net you 5-8k experience depending on the length of the race, especially with the Skill Perks that benefit “Clean Racing” skills (Clean Start gives 4k skill points with the perks, for example). I almost always win XP championships online, and I can attribute that to the fact that a majority of online players neglect keeping their races clean.

Basically, if you have racing skill, you should be able to win XP champtionships by getting in front of most of the field and racing clean. Hit the E-drift button a few times to keep your skill combo going and you’ll be good to go. Not unheard of to get 20-25k experience in a single race, even if you finish 2nd or 3rd. I love how FH3 has set-up the online component. In all of my playtime, I have yet to see a player purposefully finish last every race to gather skills and actually win the championship. It is always someone who is consistently towards the top of the results.

Having dove into online adventure a few times, I believe that while the ‘Championship’ may be determined by XP, I don’t think winning it is an accomplishment recognized in individual stats. Thus the only benefit to the ‘XP farming’ approach is the credit bonus, which I don’t think is anything special considering how easy it is to get credits in this game.

I have played many championships where a player will finish each of the 4 races in the back of the pack and yet will still finish first in the championship. This is absolute silliness. I only wish for a more credible online component to this game which rewards players more for finishing well than having this system that rewards players for driving slower just to accrue more XP. Another game I used to play called “The Crew”, had a really good multiplayer system which only gave points based on finishing position. FH3 single player comparably is much better than The Crew. It also had a ranking system which ranged from bronze to platinum which went higher or lower depending on how the player finished each race in multiplayer. So it would be nice to have a ranking system in FH3 so there were achievements to reach in the online adventure based on how well a player finishes each race or event.

They do reward you for finishing well and racing clean. I was in a lobby with PervasiveFall the other day and we were 1 and 2 on xp most of the time just by racing. I did do 1 run drifting up the back and won but actually found that harder to do lol.

I won the only 2 online championships I’ve entered (for the S14 Forzathon). I only won one race, but I was clean-racing every time, not doing donuts, or mowing down banana plantations sideways. I think the XP has been adjusted since, no? I didn’t feel like I should have won that. Felt good anyway.

100% it’s why online has really put me off and it’s a shame because it has so much potential; if it was like FH1 online :/…

I have been on here and complained about the same thing, but since have come to just ignore it. If I get into a group of online racers that insist on using me as a brake or going into a corner full bore with no braking I call them out and then leave. I usually end up in the top 3 on all my online championships, I am in a club where we race clean and race every night and try to keep a group of 5 or 6 together. It does lessen the idiots who online race to wreck others when a group of club members are in there. If I see someone drifting in the back just to farm points, and I am having a bad night or just want to make a ^&%$ of myself, I will sit back there with them and bump them when they start to garner points. You would be surprised how quickly they will leave that session.

I am a proponent of clean fast racing. To finish 1st is the goal, if you have to be dirty to do it you should not be racing.
