Did they remove this? Are there plans to bring it back?
Endurance racing in R class in Forza5 was awesome. It seemed to have a higher quality of racer. People with skill actually giving each other some room to race. It gave you time to get into a rhythm and start running really good laps. If you got hit and knocked off the track you still had a shot at catching up to the pack and placing well. In general there were a lot of benefits to it.
I simply cannot do these 5 minute races. By the time I’m getting in the groove it’s already over.
Although in the online’s current state, I couldn’t trust half of those that would race there. Simply too much of a liability.
If you’d like multiplayer endurance racing then have a look at TORA and TURN, proper community organised racing where the standards are notably higher.
the do them for special events. when a major race is held in the real world forza usually has a weekend event for it, such as the 2.4 hours of lemans and the indy500.
I gave you another valid option. Check out some of the aforementioned sites. There, they organise their own championships and they choose more relevant things than Turn 10 would do!
I agree that the current amount of races is really too short. I would love to see longer races as well, definately endurance but maybe also semi long races with like 10-30 laps or something. Or just like 1 hour races with 1 minimal pit stop like in some real GT classes.
I like how you describe 30 laps as semi long. That falls under my quantification of it!
I’m the only one that comes out of 4 hour stints where everyone else’s hands are shot, or they can’t focus. I ask “Fancy doing it again?” Aha!
The truth is, most likely, we’ll only be able to do these ourselves in community organised races or our own private lobbies. If it were a thing online, I don’t think many would last the distance and if someone good got out front and were seemingly unassailable, a lot would quit out or park up.
10-15 minutes would at least suffice for people who want to jump into lobbies and play games without committing to hours of time. It alleviates some of the frustration involved in going off or getting hit because the extra laps allow you time to claw your way back through the field if you’re driving well. At the very least you can run hotlaps and at least enjoy trying to prove you ran the best time. When you’re in a race that’s 3 laps long with 20 something players (likely 15 of those players driving like morons) you have little chance of enjoying a race because it’s over after 5 blinks.
