Now that Dolby tech seems to be fixed on XSX , I think FM looks and sounds better than GT7

But the sound quality is still not as great as it used to be. In older FM titles prior to FM7 you could hear more depth and bass to the sounds as they also had great sound design, why can’t we have that sound depth in FM? Right now even when you rotate the car the sound doesn’t move around its still on Mono. I apologize for coming off aggressive and missing your point.

Mmmm. That I disagree with. I happen to have 4,5 and 6 installed right now and neither have the depth and such that FM23 has in the cockpit. FM7 doesn’t even come close on any front so I don’t even compare it. Worst of the 8 imho. Exterior, idk honestly. Don’t care either. If a sim or simcade racing game doesn’t have a first person cam, I’m not playing it. I don’t drive cars from outside IRL so I don’t in games either. I will say that FM has a bit too much reverb and such tho. That needs to be sorted out.

Agreed. It’s taken forever but the update has improved Dolby atoms for headphones and Dolby vision. I can’t believe it’s been broken for so long. I guess playstation getting Dolby really did kick them in the backside to fix it on Xbox.

The app is basically drm, its allowing you to use it if you paid for it. It has zero effect on games or movies on the console. The only thing that would effect a games visuals and/or audio would be a patch from the developer. The only graphical “improvement” that ive seen recently is theyve cut down on the haze that was constantly applied to every race. Its still there in the main menu though. As far as sounds i cant say ive noticed any improvements, but that doesnt mean there arent any. All i know is dolby atmos still has a sick delay on xbox.

I have 5.2.4 Atmos setup with discrete speakers, through a flagship Marantz receiver and a 77" OLED with Dolby Vision and noticed zero difference,

Not sure what you are seeing or hearing. There is no difference. The app doesn’t do anything. Just gives you access.

Suns in my games no longer look like dull white pucks. Lights look like lights. They’re near blinding when right up on them. The white point clipping has improved considerably. Blacks are no longer raised. A lot less color banding. Idk maybe it was just an issue with the G3? And I definitely notice more depth and dynamic range in my atmos. Especially in the lower mid range and bass area. The app does more than give you access tho. At least a lil bit. What about the upmix button? What about the EQ 'n such for headphones? And atmos on my system doesn’t have a delay. I use passthrough tho.

I know the Series X and LG TVs have had a few weird “handshake” issues e.g. low resolution when starting the Xbox or a black screen and I’ve noticed that Auto HDR/HDR hasn’t turned on a few times while playing games. If you’re adding an AV receiver into the mix that might further complicate things.

I’m no expert on Dolby tech by any means, but afaik Dolby Atmos has nothing got to do with the video side of things.

But good to hear you’re seeing and hearing improvements anyway.

I don’t understand the point of this thread. It’s just console war bait.

FM should look good by its own merit (which it doesn’t, Dolby or not), not in comparison to any other game.

No. That is not the point. The point of it is that I own both and since this app updated ( which was the only change that was made to my setup ) I noticed that the xbox Dolby tech looked and sounded better. The only logical explanation for these changes is this app update as nothing else changed. No game updates came through. No xbox system updates. No updates to my TV or AVR. Unless my xbox just decided to randomly pop into better DV and DA, there is no other logical explanation.

The point is that I own both and on my rig FM looks and sounds better. Take it or leave it.

And we couldn’t give a crap about your comparison.

Some might. If you don’t care, then move along. Why even chime in?

Exactly why I haven’t chimed in. Until now. I play on xbox one s through gamepass and see no changes. Glad the game looks better for you. Moving along now.

You literally just said it, you use passthrough, passthrough is passthrough, no processing is done on the console.

Well, it was messed up in the past. Dolby Atmos with passthrough enabled sounded the worst of all the surround modes for the longest time. Wasn’t until a short time after FM launched that it started sounding better. In everything, not just FM. And I noticed these changes after Dolby Access updates.

Placebo is real, it’s literally just turns it on, no processing takes place. It’s not possible for it to sound better cause of the app.

What is your audio setup? maybe you have a setting that changed, LG is terrible for having things work like they should.

What you are describing is one not possible, and two if by some off chance it was it would be highly documented and advertised.

And you know this how? Work on the app? Work on Xbox? Got the facts from a dev? Unless you’re a dev, you can’t tell me that something isn’t possible. The app controls EQ for headphones, and upmixing for non-atmos content. Who’s to say that it’s not holding code for firmware 'n such like GPU drivers do on PCs?

My audio setup is Denon X4700H( with all the audyssey 'n such turned off cos I abhor compression and dynamic control ) + Klipsch RP 8000F x4, Klipsch RP 500SA x4, Klipsch RP 600C, Klipsch SPL120 x2. G3 is set to passthrough via eARC. Xbox and PS5 are connected directly to the Denon.

Game look this good on your OLED?

Proof’s in the pudding. Let’s see it. Far as I can tell you’re just name dropping all this stuff that MIGHT be better than I what I have. As of this moment, I don’t believe a word you say.

Keep on keeping on.

You have no clue what you are talking about, many others have pointed it out, Blocked

Coulda just posted a simple screenshot. Instead you got defensive for some weird reason and ‘BLOCKED’. Whatever. I don’t need your negativity. I see what I see and I hear what I hear. Had I had the wherewithal to grab my audio measuring tools ( audio engineer of like 15 years ), I’d have some proof of the sound difference too. Literally the only change that happened to my setup was this app update and things changed visually and audibly for the better. Nothing else in my setup changed so I can only logically say that this Dolby app had something to do with the change.

Couple more screenshots

Last week those white points would have been clipping hard, and the black woulda been gray. I also didn’t see the reflection on the hood there. I didn’t see reflections at all really. That badge on the wheel was flat for example. Now not so much.

So if the app truly does nothing then my setup just magically popped into ‘look amazing’ mode
