Now that Dolby tech seems to be fixed on XSX , I think FM looks and sounds better than GT7

Did I not just show someone that in order to use Dolby Atmos for home theater that the app is necessary? Your lil soundbar setup doesn’t count as home theater. Here, just in case you missed it >> File_000.png - Google Drive

I don’t believe this. I see a considerable difference in the colors since this update. Maybe it’s cos I have a G3, idk. The stock GT3 RS used to look less reflective and the green was overpowering. Now it has reflections and looks more natural. Headlight reflections on wet pavement used to have a crazy hot white point that would clip really hard and now they don’t. Like I said, my games looked and sounded differrent before this app update. Same for the M3 GTS.

Idk why so many of you think I just make this stuff up. How could that possibly benefit anyone? I don’t get it. I report what I see and hear, nothing more nothing less. I don’t get how you can’t hear the increase in bass levels and dynamic range in DA mode. Affects FH5 too. Sounds that used to be ‘flat’ aren’t anymore. You really don’t hear and/or feel more piston when in cockpit cam? I’m getting a good bit more depth in the lower mid range.
Star field used to have a ton of color banding issues, now it has less.

All I know is that all my games improved both visually and audibly after this update came through on my XSX. I had color banding and raised blacks, now I don’t. I didn’t hear a ton of lower mid range detail in my audio, now I do. This Dolby Access update is the ONLY thing that happened to my setup yesterday and that is why I attribute all these changes to it. Nothing else in my rig changed.

Starfield updated and corrected light issues a lot… Not Dolby vision. Why you so salty? You need to hear people out. We are trying to explain that an App has nothing to do with performance or light or whatever. I haven’t noticed any major boost on audio since I play with my Dolby Atmos headset so Forza looks the same and sounds the same.

Starfield updated when? Since last night? That’s the last time I played it and I had color issues abound. App updated and it all looks better. All my games do. Idk maybe it made something pop in my TV. All I can say is that my experience with my console on my hardware setup has improved since this app updated.

Far as audio goes. It’s different for home theater. I HAVE to install the app to get it to work. Same for DTS. I literally showed you the pic of the requirements earlier. Idk what else to say, I changed no part of my setup. Had the app update happen and DV looked better DA sounded better. Accept it or not, I don’t care. I’m sick of people trying to discredit others because their experience ( with completely different hardware ) doesn’t match. You have a LG G3 and a Denon X4700H AVR? If not, then your experience with your hardware doesn’t make mine nonexistent. I’m not lying. I’m not making stuff up. I’m not hallucinating. You and everyone else’s response is like ‘Oh, you’re nuts because my headphones and/or soundbar sound the same.’ Get out.

You have serious problems because I’m giving my opinion to you and you come right back firing in all fronts saying people this people that I’m right and you guys are not !

Dude I use Dolby Atmos on headset that’s all I’m saying and for that to work I need to enable it on XBOX settings and then have the app Dolby access . If your game look better okay good for you but Dolby access DOES NOT IMPROVE YOUR IMAGE QUALITY. Google it. It will only show you how to enable it on Xbox settings. And that’s it !
LG does have firmware and software updates sometimes can correct image calibration. Dolby access can update and ensure that Dolby Atmos can work properly and that’s it. Jesus is that hard for you to understand?

The last time my TV updated was 2 weeks ago. The last time my AVR updated was in December. This app update is literally the only thing that changed in the last day and yesterday my system didn’t look or sound as good as it does today. I’m telling you that it DID do something and that is my experience with my hardware. I have both GT7 and FM and IMHO FM looks and sounds better on my rig. It’s that simple. Take it or leave it.

You’re over here trying to say that since you don’t notice any changes on your setup that mine didn’t happen. Trying to discredit what I’m reporting. Did all my color banding and sound issues just up and disappear? I doubt it. This app update is the ONLY logical explanation.

Until you have the exact same setup, you have nothing to say about what my experience is.

I’ll stick by this until one of the devs pops in and proves to me that the app did nothing. You and everyone else with completely different setups have 0 influence.

Does Dolby have patch notes for the update. I’d be curious
I’m wondering if they fixed the down sampling issues
Your running a g3 I think you said, but Dolby vision is 12bit and your panel is native 10bit I believe. This means there is processing for the color bit down mixed to 10bit. Honestly shouldn’t be an issue since there are almost no 12bit sources anyway and most peoples eyes are biologically unable to detect the higher 12bit

But, I remember a year ago or so some upset over Dolby vision on Xbox implementation due to the down scaling of the color not being right for displays that cannot handle it, something about switching the output to 10bit native in the xsx. I can’t find the forum though

Anywho, the washed out less vibrant colors were a problem due to that

Of Dolby changed the app to detect and output to the native display the lower (but in practical terms just as good) 10bit color map, that could explain you seeing everything more vibrant.

Just spit balling ideas for how you could see this difference on your tv but maybe others don’t.

I dunno about the audio deal.

He gets a touch into this here after a few minutes but he says it’s 8bit but I think he might be mistaken, anyway it’s somewhere between minutes 6 to 10.

Though he doesn’t talk about the app as much

Maybe. All I know is that this app updated. My PS5 dolby atmos sounded better before, and now they’re about even. I used to have a good bit of color issues with dolby vision, now I don’t. All happened after this update came through.

For the rest, I cannot tell. But Starfield definitely got an update with massive optical improvements. Search videos about it. Just a few days before - check your update history to know when, if possible.

*cries in Samsung *

I played Starfield the night before this update installed and right after. Had color and color banding issues before it, don’t now. Starfield update happened on the 30th. This update installed afterward. Not the game updates doing this for me. Only thing that has happened far as updates go in the last 3 days is this one.

Ok - just wanted this clearified, thus others just seem to not believe you.

They’re basing their rebuttals on completely different setups. ‘My soundbar sounds the same’ or ‘My headphones sound the same’. That has no bearing on an actual AVR. If someone chimed in and said ‘My Denon AVR sounds the same’ I’d maybe have a deeper look at my receiver to see if it’s doing some wonky stuff.

Ok but it’s an open forum so people
Sharing their experiences is reasonable. Its not like you titled the thread,

“does anyone else with an atmos enabled denon avr and a lg g3 notice an improvement with the new Dolby access app update on the xsx?”

If you had, then yes there replies about other equipment might not make sense

But you didn’t
You made it just about the access app update
So people shared there Experiences as they pertain to that app

Now some of them got salty and tried to insist your seeing or hearing things that aren’t there, and were dismissive and a little insulting

But you’ve been salty from the start.

I’m saying this as someone who I think posted a relevant and hopefully additive post to the discussion, I mean this as a constructive critique of your posting not an attack on you personally.
If you want to get replies about your specifics only you would want to specify that up front.
If you don’t want to hear opinions or even experiences that aren’t in keeping with your own then, unfortunately, I don’t know a place on the internet, or in real public life, where putting your ideas out there might not garner such responses. Regardless of if you’re right or not.

In truth my understanding was that the Dolby access app wasn’t needed to run Dolby vision games and atmos except for headphones
But
That doesn’t mean that the app when installed isn’t used as the most up to date firmware, so that it still on some level effects the output. I feel like it’s a stretch, so someone with direct knowledge of that particular part could chime in, but such a thing could explain a bit of what your seeing and also a bit of why others might not see it.

I’m open to you seeing a real difference due to the app update, but I’m also open to it being some other reason you’re just not aware of. Who knows
I think you posted this to find out if it could be, and some of us are just adding our thoughts as you asked us too.

That’s fair. I just have no patience for a lack of common sense. Everyone knows that each type of hardware requires its own firmware or driver etc so when someone is like ‘my soundbar sounds the same and/or had no change with this update and then follows it up with something like you’re hallucinating or crazy or whatever’ that rubs me the wrong way.

The FAQ on this page suggests you dont need dolby access for dolby vision, just for dolby atmos. Although it does say you can control Dolby vision settings from the app.

I can’t find patch notes anywhere though.

“How can I experience gaming in Dolby Vision?“ makes no mention of Dolby access but “ How can I experience gaming in Dolby Atmos?” does.

The app is merely for Dolby Atmos sound with games and apps. Even if uninstall the Dolby Access app, it will not impact DV or HDR10 in any way, just the way you hear things.

But glad you’re experiencing quality improvements.

Now back to Forza…

Tonne of work needed to improve the car sounds!

Anyone here that says Forza Motorsport has better car sounds than Gran Turismo 7, you guys deaf and you are the what’s wrong with this not just the devs. Seriously…these unoriginal synthetic…too much reverby and raspy sounds are better than GT7? Go take a listen to the Valkyrie on both games.

Even Forza Motorsport 2 has better sounds than this game.

I play primarily in first person and FM is more immersive than GT7. Maybe GT7 will get an update in the future for proper Dolby Atmos, but right now it’s sub-par. Also, I’m not talking about the sound design here anyways. Just the quality of the audio output. I.E. Dolby Atmos on PS5 vs Series X.
