Part of the complaints I had back in FH5 were some Bonus Boards (XP or fast travel boards) placed in unrealistic areas, such as in rooftops, cable towers, a certain angle from a bridge’s scaffolding, or from a balcony in a building, in which for FH6, this needs to be redone in more accessible areas, emphasizing how they should be found, rather than how they should be approached in order to smash them.
I loved how they were in FH5. It really made you think about how to get to places, and showed you could get on some roofs that otherwise one probably wouldn’t have tried to. The one high up in the pylon was the best though.
The most annoying ones were in FH4 when you could only reach them in certain seasons.
On collectables though, it would be cool to have more of them. It was fun in the Hot Wheels expansion especially, as they were the only reason to visit some parts of the map. The Crew Motorfest does collectables well also, but there you can just fly to the markers, which makes it less of a treasure hunt.
That’s part of the challenge isn’t it? If they were all placed on the ground I bet people would start to complain that they were too easy to get.
I really enjoy having a hard time getting to smash them. But yeah it certainly is unrealistic. In the past I thought it would be really cool if the boards were in location that are maybe on a steep hill, so you need a offroader to get it, or if a board is in a narrow corner so you’d need a peel or a isetta to reach in there.
That reminds me a bit of the cigarette cards in RDR2, those aren’t hidden at all, but you still need to search hard for them, while other collectibles like the dinosaur bones are really hard to find, but you can use the Eagle Eye so collectibles in the open world get highlighted.
I hope they up the game a bit for FH6, cause while a few boards where really hard to get, most of them where just a matter of driving into them. And even the ones that are “hidden” are often hidden in beautiful spots, as if the board was waiting for you. I hope they actually start hiding them behind bushes and deco items so it feels more rewarding when you finally find one.
Yes its fun and challenging when they are placed in “unrealistic places”
Something that occured to me is that in FH6 we’ll be able to build anywhere on the map, so we should be able to just build a ramp right in front of an otherwise unreachable Bonus Board.
See the FH6 FAQ:
Q: What else is new for EventLab in Forza Horizon 6?
We’ve added
the ability to start building from anywhere in Forza Horizon 6, as well
as other improvements, all of which are also available in the Estate
and the Customizable Garage. Stay tuned for more details about those
updates in the months ahead.
So perhaps we’ll even see even harder and seemingly impossible signs to get this time?
We can already build anywhere on the map in FH5, the only difference is, that in FH6 you can place the starting line anywhere you want, so that won’t change anything about the bonus boards. Also the bonus boards disappear as soon as you go into eventlab creation mode.
