Sometimes, my engine has no audio, but I can still hear the drivatars engines. To make things even weirder, I can hear my own engine when there’s reverb (in a tunnel or going through grandstands) but not the actual engine itself. This only happens on some cars. I’ve tested five as of right now.
Alfa 4C: No audio
BAC Mono: No audio
Ford Mustang GT350R: Has audio
Ferrari 512TR: Has audio
Mazda RX7: Kind of has audio, but sounds like the engine volume was turned to 1% (Completely impossible to hear if there are other cars nearby, crowd noises, or music)
I bought the game digitally, and I always turn the console all the way off (no standby.) I’d never driven a 4C or a Mono until today, so I don’t know if they’ve always had this problem, but I’ve driven that RX7 since release and it was always fine. None of the cars are engine swapped, and the Mustang is the only stock one.
Also for the record, I searched these forums and googled it to find nothing. I kind of need some information here, because it’s rendered the game unplayable for me.
It sounds like your audio settings in the console’s dash are not configured properly? How is the console connected to your sound system?
What have you selected in the console UI options - uncompressed stereo, uncompressed 5.1/7.1 or DTS using bitstream out? All of this is very important and is most likely the cause of poor audio balance. Are you getting vocals/ game announcer’s voice?
Oh wow, I only read the last part the first time you asked… sorry about that.
It’s connected to my PC monitor through HDMI with a 3.5mm audio out cable, which goes into a TRS input on my audio interface so I can hear it through my PC headphones. Scarlett 2i2 and Audio Technica ATH-M50 respectively. Console is set to uncompessed stereo.
I mean not the h.phones themselves but quite possibly how they are connected for you to hear sound in games.
Try connecting a coaxial to an amp to get sound. One of the best methods is to connect the console directly to a TV and then either have HDMI Out or audio out jacks going to an amp/sound system.
If you want to stick to the PC monitor set up then you may be able to get the sound through the new X1 controller which boasts a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Out of curiosity, what’s stopping you from hooking it up to a TV and amp?
Ditch the PC monitor setup. That is the cause of your problem. You should be able to hear every car, crystal clear.
I’m sticking to the PC monitor setup because I don’t have a TV, speakers, or an amp. Does the new controller actually put out the full audio signal? Might have to look into that for other reasons… but I’m having a hard time understanding how my setup can be the problem even though it was working perfectly before I made this thread. The only audio issues I’ve ever had with this setup before this would be the crackling from Forza 5, and that was fixed by simply quitting the game and clearing the cache.
Sorry, but there’s no way I’m buying a TV and an entire audio system just to play two games. I already bought a console for that, and that’s outrageous enough.
I’m going to emphasize this: This is a bug in the game. Not my system or my setup. I’ve tested Forza 5 and Horizon 2 as well, and they’re both as flawless as ever. It’s just Forza 6 that has this sound issue which developed with this month’s content update, and didn’t exist beforehand.
If anyone else is looking at this thread, I’d like to hear from you.
So you’ve already done a full hard-reset like Snowowl recommends? Cleared persistent storage and alternate MAC just to be sure?
Man, this is a wierd issue for sure.
Last resort: delete the game, reinstall but launch it offline so that it doesn’t prompt for game updates. Then you can find out if it truly is the update responsible.
You might have to clear local saved games as well to accomplish this since deleting game may or may not get rid of content update, not sure.
So I say you delete just the game first, reinstall, then launch it offline. If the issue is still there, clear Local Saved Games, then launch the game offline.
This must be very frustrating for you I’m sure; trying to explore it from every angle. Hope it goes away after the above steps. At least you’ll know what’s to blame and you can reach out to T10 through email.
So I went on a small trip I didn’t know I was going on, and I was hoping to have something new to try when I got back… Tried the hard reset, no change, so I tested some more cars from my garage that I had before the update and found that some of them also lost their audio.
I’m not going to delete the entire game just to find out of the update is “truly responsible.” Do you mean to tell me this was all a magical coincidence and that some other part of the game decided to stop working when the update was installed? Because that’s fine, maybe that is indeed the case. After all, anything is possible. That still means the update was responsible.
To top it off, there’s nothing in the local saved games that could affect the game like this, unless the game decided to put part of its audio engine in my save file for some reason. Unless someone who actually worked on the game tells me to delete these things OR you can provide me a darn good reason, I’m not going to waste my time redownloading a massive game at two megabits per second.
I realize you’re trying to explore it from every angle, but these just aren’t the right ones. Also, I wouldn’t have thought to reach out to T10 by email for support when they have a support forum.
Would still be happy to hear from anyone else. Even if it’s just “you’re an idiot, do what he says and here’s why.”
Bro, I know where you must be right now… an issue like this would absolutely drive me up the wall. Can you tell me if it works properly when you connect your console directly to a set of speakers or amp? For testing sake, you might borrow a sound system from someone.
Other than, try to get in touch with one of the devs I suppose. Folks from the dev team hang out at the forums; I can’t seem to recall their gamer tag though. Send a message to one of the mods, they might be able to help.
