Audio not as loud as other games? just me?

Forza 6 for some reason is quieter than my other games…

I keep my volume setting in the middle for all games except forza. With forza, I have to set the volume to just under maximum to hear it at the same level as other games…

Just curious if anyone else has to do this??

Try turning up your in game settings

set it to headphones.

I have my in game volume at max. Setting is on headphones as well.

Not sure why there is such a huge difference between forza 6 and other games. Since I bought the game I had thought that the sound was pretty lackluster & almost muffled… weird…

I belive all my audio settings are as they should be, considering all other games sound great except forza …

Lol I have my in game volume set a 27% I did this a long time ago when my mic was broken. I couldn’t hear anyone talking over the engine noise so I lowered it and that’s where it’s been ever since.

OP, it’s true - Forza 6 is a bit quite relatively. Do you game on a digital surround system or TV speakers/regular amp/w speakers?

As soon as you pop in Forza 5, you can hear and feel the difference right away in the sheer viciousness of the sound that comes with many cars, particularly the reverb going into and coming out of tunnels, not to mention racing on roads where there are tightly packed objects, mountains or buildings around. The reverb is just brilliant.

Anyway, Forza 6 isn’t half as bad sound-wise but it needs to go back to the same level as F4 and 5, while improving things from there.

Plus, I think lowering the volume and balance overall may be a deliberate decision on the developer’s part - if you recall, there was an annoying static sound bug in Forza 5. One guy reportedly lost a speaker due to the high frequency static bug that can pop up anytime when there are a lot of cars around you. It could be fixed by quitting/relaunching the game or doing a hard-reset, but there was no telling how long it took to return.

So in order to improve the overall dynamic range of a game, sometimes developers balance things out in a way to reduce volume and keep the game free of any audio artifacts.

One thing you can do is turn off Dynamic Range Control from your Xbox One’s audio settings. It’s either there or the Bluray settings, don’t recall. But this should help things for sure.

Thanks Speed Demon!

I didn’t get forza 5, but played a lot of forza 4 & noticed imideatly that the sound in forza 6 was no where near as loud, angry etc as forza 4 was ( bummer bcuz I love forza 4’s sound).

I’d say 90% of my gaming Is with my Cloud 2 headset… simple hdmi for video & audio… I typically have my controller plugged into the Xbone directly & my headset into the 3.5mm jack on the controller. This setup seams to have the least amount of static & most consistent audio. ( headset settings are on stereo )

When I use my TV speakers it’s simply a stereo speaker set that comes connected to the TV.

I have Dolby Dynamic Range Controller, Off.
It is in the Blu Ray settings. I Have also tried clearing persistent storage & mac address then reset, with no luck.

It’s odd because some cars like the Lancia delta have a perfect backfire & pretty good audio all around, but then other cars sound muffled & lackluster : ( I just want my forza 4 sound : (

E39 M5 … one of my favorite cars, sounds like poo in forza 6 : *(

That is correct - there’s a fair amount of inconsistency to be found. I.e. the F50, modern GTO and FXX sound unbelievable. Then you hear the F40, LaFerrari or 1980s GTO, and it just sounds like a forced “videogamy” sound instead of an actual engine sound. There are many cars in the game that sound similar, when they shouldn’t. They definitely gave preferential treatment to some of the cars.

For instance, you’ll notice almost none of the Fords sound off, in fact, they are very well done, given T10’s partnership with Ford (cover car). They have made their very first mistake in the franchise, which much like PD’ Gran Turismo, will cost them: focusing on too much quantity and not enough quality.

They are busy trying to please everyone, instead of catering to one specific audience that has loved their franchise so much over the year: people looking for an authentic experience in terms of physics and SOUNDS. That magical track experience is starting to wither as Forza is constantly attempting to become more mainstream. Horizon is proof of that.

Lately, the line between Horizon and Motorsport seem to be getting more blurry. Well, the good news is, as consumers, we now have more choices than ever. The next 2-3 years will give us plenty of options in terms of getting an authentic virtual driving experience. And if Forza fails to deliver yet again, well, as Mr. Greenawalt put it himself in one of his tweets: there are other great racing games to choose from.

What kind of audio system and hookup are you running?

Strange, I find it to be the opposite. I play Forza at about half the volume that I watch TV or play other games at.

Same for me. Forza is much louder than other games.

That is really weird, but I really appreciate your input…
so far it sounds like im the only one with this issue…

As much as I don’t want to…
I’m wondering if deleting & re-downloading the game would help anything?
I’m using the physical disc, not digital…
Anyone think delete & re-download would change anything or just waste of time? (I remember it took FOR EVER to download.)

Hmm, for me it’s the other way around. For Fallout 4 I put the TV volume to 25/60, for FH2 20/60 and for FM6 17/60, for Skyrim on the 360 it’s 30/60. I don’t know what’s up with that.

OP, I’d say it’s not just you. I have a stereo receiver hooked up to two Kenwood tower speakers and when I play Forza I have my volume set at 13, sometimes higher depending on the car. The other two racing games I play, 10 is about perfect.

So yeah, Forza is on the quiet side if you ask me.

I really cranked the volume up last night & I must say, it made a world of difference as far as audio detail when driving, cars sounded a lot better…
but I really like how you worded your response Speed Demon. INCONSISTENT! I jump in the Lancia delta… huge beautiful backfires… jump in almost any other car & the backfire seems muffled & doesn’t have the punch in the face brutal audio…
Also, Speed Demon, I couldn’t agree more with your post, some cars sound fantastic while others sound Really forced & electronic… I still can’t get over the e39 M5… sounds perfect from idle to about 3,500 Rpm then it sounds horrible & electronic & honestly grand tourismo like.

Who here is playing with physical disc game? Who is playing digital?

Now that I think of it, forza 6 is the only game I play that is not a digital download… hmm

I agree OP. FM4 was okay, FM6 is all over the place. Voiceover is very quiet. I wish devs would give us proper audio controls.

When I first got my copy on disc I couldn’t hear at all and was missing shifts because of it. After the first online update it repaired itself and sound has been clear since.

Very interesting…

Might sound dumb, but it doesn’t matter which end of the Hdmi cable is plugged in to the xbox right? Like both ends of the Hdmi cable are the same , it’s not directional right?

My hdmi is plugged into the Xbone then straight to the TV, very simple…

Yeah either end is fine. Mine was plugged into a monitor via HDMI and then I had an amplified speaker set w/sub plugged into that. As soon as I popped it on it said it needed an update and I have metered internet so I unplugged the ethernet and continued to play till the weekend and took it to a better connection and got the updates. When I got back the sound was much better. Only problem I was having was hearing my car over the noise of the other cars in a pack.

If you don’t mind not hearing the other cars in a pack and hearing yours more throughout the race, change audio setting to “headphones”.
