Sound volume and other observations

I noticed that the sound volume on FM6 is so low. I have to really turn up the volume to be able to hear the engine. Im just using a standard tv speaker. I’m basing this in comparison to project cars btw. Also going from PC to FM6 is quite the change in how the cars “feel”. Maybe I have to play with the wheel settings but it just feels numb to me. There’s a lot more feel from PC than there is on FM. Is it the wheel setup/calibration?

Forza 6 is a controller game at heart, the wheel is afterthought in every aspect of the game. I don’t think the devs even care to bring out the full wheel potential or they would already have done so after the massive September wheel issues feedback. I have PC as well, the wheel there indeed feels amazing but sadly the game has other issues as well. It annoys the **** out of me you can’t even save a livery to a car.

I’m glad I’m not the only one experiencing this.

They are talking about Project Cars, not a PC computer.

The sound level in PCARS, including engines is too loud to begin with. It is very loud and obnoxious with not enough detail. Forza has cleaner sound with vastly better detail but here’s the thing: you need a good amp and speakers to experience the dynamic range which makes the tiniest and loudest sound audible. I’m afraid F6 isn’t as TV speaker-friendly as Forza 4 was.

Get a proper amp + speaker set up and you WILL hear and feel the difference.

As for feel, give it time… keep all your assists off, play the game both on sim and normal steering and always keep your deadzones at 0/100 (inside/outside).

Thanks for the tip. I have a a spare home theater maybe that’ll help

I run a 5.1 surround sound set up and subwoofer and FM6 sound levels are fine, and my volume settings with other games fair in comparison. Project Cars volume is way too high, I really have to reduce the volume.

I know the numbers I’m about to mention won’t mean anything, but on my AV I generally for all games have the sound around 30, and if I really wan’t to get submerged and annoy neighbours I’ll go higher. When I play games but have party chat on I’ll reduce volume to around 24 so as not to come blaring through my mic.

On Project Cars however, in party chat i bring the volume down to 8 and if not in party chat I’ll have it around 18 and low 20’s If I want to crank it up.

So in a nutshell, FM6 and other games are fairly equal, Project Cars is way over the top with volume level.

Played with the headset last night and it definitely helps with the sound.
