You know, I was criticizing the game’s audio shortcomings just a day or two back.
Little did I know that setting the output to “headphones” makes the cars COME ALIVE, the way they do in FM4 and 5. GOOD JOB devs; this was everything I wanted. I’m absolutely overjoyed, and can’t put the game down at all!
LOVE the off-throttle and downshifting sounds. The LaFerrari and P1 sound much more convincing now as do the other 3 dozen or so cars I tested out.
HUGE thank you to the devs for listening to the fans. This is exactly what was needed in FM6 - now it SOUNDS like a Forza game.
Guys, set your output to headphones, pronto! Doesn’t matter what system you’re running.

I’ve said this before. I run 7.1 headphones and have never had the audio issues people complain about. lol
Hopefully some more people will pay attention this time around. Just post this every time one of those threads comes up. I normally do.

I still thinks playing forza without headphones is like eating chocolate with the paper on… !

They just patched this in on Tuesday.
Maybe dumb question, but:
With Headphone ON … does the sound get better overall - or just with Headphone on ears?
I think speed demon thinks that the sound get’s better overall! try it and see if you can hear a difference
I would still recommend you headphones! (turtle headphones)
Does this improve the sound of the headset that comes with the Xbox one?
If you got the ‘‘Xbox One Stereo Headset’’ then YES!
With headphones on is like playing a completely different game to me. When racing any of the league races I always use my headphones.
Muting everyone helps too if you go into the public hoppers.
I use Tritton’s and they separate the sound very well. Positional sounds move as you would expect, and the cars engine sounds fine compared to other vehicles. I know those are the main complaints, but i’ve never suffered from them.
Hopefully anyone will be able to get a good sound mix now.
They said in the patch notes this week that they set the “headphone” setting to bias your own car’s engine sound. Even if you’re not using actual headphones.
^^ Precisely, those who are still mildly confused about this: USE the headphones setting even if you don’t have headphones. It brings out the engine sounds without sacrificing the other effects. Some of you lads didn’t read my original post properly, did’ya?
The Z06’s sound is sending chills up and down my spine! Orgasmic chills at that!!
Ooops, no sorry i didnt.
But using headphones does improve enjoying this game imo.

Yes, I have been using headphones ( Bose 5.1 ) since forza 4 due to the wife’s complaints of my games being too loud. I’m so glad she complained as all my games sound better with the headphones. Biggest improvement was for forza 6…really night and day difference!

I have got XO Sevens and the new sound is amazing. I will be trying my Monster DNA Pro’s later as I only use them for special occasions.
You will still see the night/day difference (almost) when using the headphones setting even if you have speakers. It makes the engines sound that much better. The oomph and bark has returned from FM4 and 5 to some degree.
Major improvement overall. And let me repeat, you DON’T need headphones to enjoy this setting. Just change the output and hear/feel the difference, no matter what audio system you have.
I’ll have to try this. Never had a problem with my living room surround sound, but better sound is always good.
I would hate to play a game like this with headphones. Nothing beats a surround system and a good subwoofer… but this game definitely hasn’t had the impact in the audio that I would have liked.
That said, having tried this setting, I haven’t noticed much difference. Maybe the engine is slightly louder, but the game still would benefit from more bass and impact in the audio.

Exactly. The best way to reproduce 3D audio is in 3D. Headphones mimic 3D with a (stereo) soundstage.

I went back and forth and didn’t notice a difference. I’m not actually using headphones. I was hoping it would sound better from my television but it sounded the same.
