So 2day my friend who has 650k design downloads spacemanspiff67 said his designs were not getting any downloads I tried resharing a design that has 700 downloads I got 0 is any1 else getting this issue??? Pls help
Something sounds a little fishy here. What do you mean by ‘not getting any downloads’? Do you mean that no one is downloading your designs or your friends’ designs any more? Or do you mean that neither one of you is getting credit for them any more? IF your friend truly has 650K downloads to this point, then I find it hard to believe that suddenly he’s getting 0 downloads … should be getting thousands of downloads each day.
When you say you reshared a design, what did you do exactly? If you re-shared a design by unsharing it first and then sharing it again, that action will reset your download count to 0. Is that the ‘0’ that you say you have now? If so, then yes, that’s how the system works.
I was going to make a similar topic, but jdm4life beat me to it. I will attempt to explain as clearly as possible and also speculate on what I think is happening. I have just over 630k downloads, every few days I go through my designs and reshare them, usually focusing on the 5 star paintjobs. I did this yesterday and when I checked my downloads later that day I was very surprised to see that basically everything I had reshared had 0 downloads. I think I had a total of 6 downloads from about 50 liveries where normally I would have had a few thousand.
What I think is happening is that before Forza would put up both new designs as well as popular designs into the recommended feed, they are now putting only 5 star designs. This means that any new paint jobs or reshares will have a very difficult time getting downloads and will likely limit the amount of popular paintjobs for any car to a select few that currently have 5 stars. Previously, a design would have a limited time in the recommended feed and would only stay if it got downloads, now it seems they have taken new designs out of the recommended feed entirely and only place in 5 star designs. This is all speculation but I did search designs for a few different vehicles and it checked out for all of them.
I don’t think this is a great idea for the painting community as not only will it limit the amount of designs most people see, but it will also make it much more difficult for new painters and paint jobs to get any traction. If anyone could weigh in with anything more concrete or if they are having the same problem that’d be great.
PTG is right. If you “reshare” a design, you’re shooting yourself in the foot by putting the counter back to zero as if no one had ever seen it. If no one sees it, then no one downloads it and it’s no longer at the top of the list where the popular designs show with the contest winners and followed artists.
My advice – if you want something to keep racking up downloads, uses and likes, don’t unshare it. Leave it alone once it has been established.

You can wait days, weeks or months. Once you unshare a design, the system will not remember it. You need to advertise and put it back out there for people to remember it and start downloading it again.
I’ve been resharing designs since the game came out. Previously, after a few days and depending on the car, your design would be taken off the recommended list. It seems as though something has recently changed. I have over 630,000 downloads so it’s certainly worked for me in the past.
Is it possible that your designs are on cars that are no longer popular? They might have racked up downloads like when that car’s expansion pack came out and everybody was looking for fresh paint for it. Now that few people still need to buy that pack, surely the numbers will dwindle.
I have designs on a wide variety of cars, it is basically beyond belief that my downloads would go down 500x overnight. Something has changed in how Forza treats new paint jobs.
Also I’d like to add that I’ve never done any advertising of any sort. I would simply reshare or create a new paint job, they would generally get a fair amount of downloads and then I would reshare them after a few days when I noticed that the downloads had slowed or stopped entirely. Nothing has changed about what I do except my downloads have completely stopped. I have a few designs that would get hundreds of downloads in a day and then they would stop once they were taken off the recommended list. These designs, literally overnight, stopped getting any downloads. Like zero downloads instead of hundreds. Something has clearly changed and that is what I’m curious about. And if anyone thinks about what I speculate is happening, you’ll see how a change that makes new or reshared paint jobs basically invisible to the community is a bad thing.
I think self advertising is [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] up and is unfair imo
LOL You do realize that unsharing and then resharing to make it look like a design is new so that it’s at the top of the list is self-advertising, don’t you?? LOL Now that I think about it, it’s self-FALSE-advertising for that matter because it’s not even really new. LOLOLOLOL
Oh… you mean the glitch that allowed you to unshare and then reshare to make something look new doesn’t work anymore, so now it’s a glitch because it doesn’t work? Gotcha.
