Also I’d like to add that I’ve never done any advertising of any sort. I would simply reshare or create a new paint job, they would generally get a fair amount of downloads and then I would reshare them after a few days when I noticed that the downloads had slowed or stopped entirely. Nothing has changed about what I do except my downloads have completely stopped. I have a few designs that would get hundreds of downloads in a day and then they would stop once they were taken off the recommended list. These designs, literally overnight, stopped getting any downloads. Like zero downloads instead of hundreds. Something has clearly changed and that is what I’m curious about. And if anyone thinks about what I speculate is happening, you’ll see how a change that makes new or reshared paint jobs basically invisible to the community is a bad thing.

I don’t have a problem with anyone advertising, but it certainly shouldn’t be a requirement to getting downloads. And I’m guessing that the vast, vast majority of players aren’t on these forums anyways.

Well … after reading through this thread … it’s interesting to read about what you guys are seeing … as I really like to understand how things work. I also wish that T10/PG wouold explain to us how things are done in the game so we’d have a better idea of what to expect and when something might be wrong.

So … here’s a few notes I have:

(1) First of all … what you guys are experiencing is not happening to everyone. I can confirm this. I keep very close track of all my downloads, likes and uses on all my designs and my designs are being downloaded every day. New and old. I never unshare or re-share a design once it’s shared and honestly I don’t understand why anyone would do this. But that’s just me.

(2) Not all designs that make it to the Recommended Designs feed are 5-star designs. So I can definitely say that T10 has not changed something to limit the Recommended feed to only 5-star designs.

(3) Since we can’t see our own designs in the Recommended Designs feed, I have no way to know when a design gets shown there or for how long it is shown. This is something that I really wish T10 would explain to the community so we would know how it works.

(4) Not everyone sees the same designs in the Recommended feed for the same cars. If you and I were to look at Recommended Designs for the same car at the same time … we would see different paints there depending on who we follow as creators and how many paints those we follow have done on the car we’re searching with. And since there’s only 20 recommended designs shown at any time … it’s entirely possible to browse the feed and never see any paints of anyone other than those you follow.

I really do wish we could learn more about the process T10 uses to put designs in the Recommended Designs feed. At times it really does seem that it’s almost random. If you guys learn anything else about your issues or figure out what’s going on … please report back here and let the rest of us know.

I understand what you are saying jdm and it sounds like you knowingly exploited the system. I am new to painting and when my new designs get 0 downloads, I know it is because of the rampant unsharing and resharing designs from you and your friends. Thank you for letting us know. Tuners are doing the same thing and it sounds like a form of spamming the storefront. Not cool at all.
