The Forza drifting community is as passionate as they come, and we’re pleased to bring them some important new updates to the Forza 7 drift experience. First and foremost, we’ve added a new drift suspension upgrade option to the Upgrade Shop. This upgrade brings with it a steering angle kit that players can tune up to 60 degrees of steering angle. This upgrade includes quicker steering and optimized suspension geometry for lower camber change in steering, as well as lower Ackermann effect, reducing scrubbed loss of speed on the car during a drift.
Drift Scoring
In tandem with the drift upgrades and tuning, we’ve also introduced an updated drift scoring system into Forza 7. With the August Update, drift scoring will be based on three criteria – Speed, Angle, and Line. All three of these elements will be displayed on screen with a real-time scoring information, along with your traditional drift score total. Importantly, light wall taps won’t drop your drift score and, as with the updated track limits in traditional races, getting two wheels out of the track limits (such as both rear wheels, for example) won’t drop your drift score.
Another important change: Drift zones have been completely removed from tracks, which means you can now manji drift down straights and earn drift score, and you can also completely link a track together with a single drift.
This is the first time since the conception of adding drifting to Forza in the first place even it being something small like points and a leaderboard. If you think they are messing up with this then you don’t understand its severity, they are giving more then what they ever have, new events probably and hell maybe our own version of their racing series. This is a giant step towards giving us what we’ve been wanting and will be tweaked like everything else. For now be happy because to many cry babies whined about weak steering angles. At least now people will see where their driving faults, the points still suck but the visual multiplier can at least help people understand tunes and lines better. We should finally be seeing a giant leap in skill levels across the chart and more immersion, hopefully.
They weren’t there when I looked earlier. I’m at work now so I have to wait til I get off to investigate further. I have the new scoring system and saw the video for the angle kits, but they weren’t there.
Love the Angle Kits, don’t like that they made every straight a place to get Points seems like everyone is just doing manjis every 2 Seconds to squeeze out a couple more points.
Drifting should be about going way too fast into the first corner throwing max angle and managing to pull it off, other wise a great update and glad they are finally improving the game for the drifters.
Can someone explain or does someone know why the experimental drag does not show up under free play mode? This was said to be in the update? Very disappointed they couldn’t deliver. I would be more understanding if there was FYI update saying we know we said something but here’s what happened. You can’t give positive feedback on something that’s untangable.
Drift Update Needs To Be Redone The Right Way:
I bought Forza Motorsport 7 because of leader boards and the leader boards are still not done right for the drifting. 6 tracks and there’s restrictions. You should be able to use any car and any setup you want to use. Its ways to easy to earn points. Takes no skill now. The game feels like I’m playing The Crew to drift or a mobile device. Another disappointment…

You should be able to use any car and any setup you want to use. the new manji drift thing is not cool at all it feels like the crew 2 or mobile drifting now and it is really not what most people that do points drifting and take it seriously that is the last thing we wanted the old system was perfect just make the point zones longer maybe. switch it back to the old system and keep the angle kit and add some real leaderboards and it would be a lot better please don’t leave the manji thing in the games it takes all the fun out and its more for people that don’t know how to drift but whish they did`
Manjis are way to link corners together it’s part of drifting. Someone who knows how to drift should be able to do it. The new points setup is how everyone that has been around forza drifting before we had points wanted it done. The old system was perfect before the points drifting but having this new system is pretty fun because real drifters are weeding out the posers that can’t hang
Love the new system! Made all the crab walking toe drifters irrelevant. Now instead of getting in the way and winning they’re just in the way. The update as whole is by far the best thing t10 has ever done for drifters.
Also to add to my original post their is nothing wrong with doing Manjis on the straights, the issue for me is tracks like Monza with ridiculously long straights and having to do 20+ manjis to link it.
If you can’t link the staright within 2-3 manjis it shouldn’t be a point zone so for now I think i’ll stick to tandem lobbies.
People will figured it out quickly, just because you can manji down the straights doesn’t mean its the best thing to do. Just messing around last night and flying past them on straights for a better scandinavian at higher speed. The ones that just sit and feel the need to manj every 2-3 seconds actually make less overall due to the multiplier and losing speed, but… now we have a few sections that mostly everyone does it on that can snag a few more points from and now have no limitation to when you initiate. I myself love to throw from almost 200mph on long straights into initiations like on Indys first corner, except now that extra 2-3 seconds of getting nothing while line locked I actually get something. So its a payoff, you don’t really have to change the way you drive but you definitely don’t need to manj everything for points, it actually hurts the laps overall from lack of speed and ability to connect the longer sections according to the new calculator.
I’m already tired of it I hope they change it back to original points zones, I know a lot of people don’t care about points but its making people take retarded lines now just because they manji everywhere. Put the original points sectors back in and this update would be a success, this isn’t even drifting right now, its more like dodgeball. Seems like they are punishing us as well, someone flying off the road and puts a sign in the road you lightly hit or a tire and lose your entire string, yet someone lightly taps you and keep points? Awesome for public tandems but going from 1st to like 8th because you hit a small object that got thrown in the road… yeah a few things need to be changed… lol
if they add leaderboards which they won’t can they please ban Drag/Race tire from being used I’m currently ranked 17th in Europe on Suzuka drift rival and most of the people ahead of me are on drag/race compound.
I won’t lie, I use drags myself. I don’t care how they do leaderboards though. Regulated or not. I’m one of those that says use what you wanna. Drags or stock. Race tyres suck anyway.
The leaderboards they have put in don’t even work. Also they aren’t easily found, they can’t even get that right, and it’s mixes all the drive types together so RWD don’t stand much of a chance. Doesn’t affect me I prefer AWD but I still want fair LB’s
That was quick to change your mind lol, for me without points on the straight I can initiate how I want as fast as possible, backwards entries it didn’t matter if I wasn’t getting points for it or if I wanted a bit of a break from drifting for 8 minutes I could cruise down the straight instead without missing out on a point zone, now you have no other option but to drift everywhere imo
