I am not to happy with the lack of cars in this game I mean c’mon turn 10 forza 2 had more cars, like is this a joke ? I remember reading something awhile back stating they got ride most the cars because they didnt want re use old content. This sorta makes sense I mean it’s not like we would have to worry about blacked out interiors, that statement was false anyways half the car list has carsfrom previous titles.
Anyways I just don’t understand why they would pretty much get rid of 500 and just make 100 leaving us with less content. Seems like a money grab for dlc if you ask me. [Derogatory comments removed - fyerball]
I also hated the navigation process of buying a car like what happened to just clicking a car company now we have to cycle threw [Derogatory comments removed - fyerball] , it’s insanely exhausting.
I can’t complain about the gameplay tho great improvement.
Oh and bring back Porche please
The cars lists in previous Forza titles are academic. Cars and tracks are created differently in FM5. So, ask yourself this, would you want 200+ cars that are more accurately created in much higher resolution with far more acurate textures and materials or 400 old images from a previous title?
Most of us miss the manufacturers “showrooms” but you can sort the cars making finding one a little quicker. It’s not like you spend hours buying cars.
The missing Porsche brand is to do with Porsche licensing the use of some of their cars and the Porsche name to other game developers.
Oh not again…
Racing games hate console jump, especially for those with a huge car list to start with.
I understand why people get upset about losing this and that in a new game, but sometimes you need to see it from a different direction. It was us, the consumer, who wants the “wow!” graphics improvement in every evolution of a game series, at least that’s what majority of the people think, the more focus and die-heart fans who want “contents” are just the minority. This is the main ingredient that makes the game sell well in its early sales period (you know, first impression and eye candy are what people want), and don’t forget, Forza is already the flagship title of XBOX, T10 had no other choice.
I’ll try to explain…
When there is need of a huge graphic standard jump (console jump), most of the 3d models from the old game needs to be dump away because they’re simply not up to standard. For a racing game series which relies heavily on re-using car models to builds up their car list over the years of evolution…this is really harsh. What I mean by “re-use” is that, for example, since the graphic upgrade requirement aren’t as harsh for games within the same gen, most of the FM3’s car 3d models were simply just “copied” over to FM4 so that they have a huge car list to begin with, they can then continually and easily build it up more just by focusing on creating more new cars.
(For the copy part I know it isn’t just as simple as “copy over”, but at least its a lot simpler than re-modeling the whole thing)
However, for FM5, they can’t do it the same way, at least for the 3d models that they were using all these years, all the way from FM2. Therefore, they need to made the worst decision, dump most of their hard works and start from scratch, upsetting all the fans who expect “the car list should be larger for every new titles” at the same time. Hey, these all sound familiar doesn’t it? GT5! The biggest victim of console jump of all time! It was a hell lot more worse over there you know? Compare to that, T10 was much more prepared in this situation, the newer cars from FM4 already had quite decent model and can be easily update/upgrade to re-use in FM5, or else you’ll be seeing even smaller car list. Look, at least we still has a much more competitive and diverse car list compare to our rivals, and T10 is making great progress on increasing the numbers.
(Same problem for tracks, but that’s even worse, do you know it can take a year or more to model just one track?)
Think of all these “sacrifices” are for the good, at the end, they did all these for us, give them more time and root for them! Making game isn’t easy task and in these days it even got to the point of insanity, therefore I really hate seeing so many negative comments over people’s extreme hard works, even superman needs a rest.
(Sorry if my Engrish are illegible, I tried my best…)
You don’t understand how a new console demands new content quality standards; thus, material has to either be reworked or dumped to match the expectations put forth by this new generation of gaming? Or, how about the idea that usage rights of licenses expire and, when not renewed, this means the developer cannot legally use the content any longer?
Additionally, you comment about past Forza titles and how the number of content in those games are, apparently, acceptable to you; however, judging by your progress in Forza Motorsport 2 through Horizon 2, it appears you don’t even play the games long enough to make use of the hundreds of cars made available to you. So, I must ask: is there an actual reason you care about the car count, or are you just looking for reasons to complain for the sake of having the chance to use hip words like “scam artist” and “money grab”?
Lastly, if a game which accumulates assets year-over-year is what you are looking for, there is the perfect game out there for you by the name of Gran Turismo. Enjoy.
