Nascar Expansion

There isn’t 24 cars, there is about 16, I would agree that all the #4 cars should be a colour option but the rest are different cars, as it says “24 cars from the 2016 season” which is entirely correct as there are more than 3, simple maths really. A formula 1 game would state it had all 22 cars of the 2016 championship, yes there are 11 models but there are 22 F1 cars, also bet the official NASCAR game will say all 43 cars. While I agree some cars are repaints, there are different cars there, I’m surprised we haven’t seen anyone complain about the Chevy as we already have the SS and Commodore in game and this new is just a slightly different version, or why is there a Toyota in this pack, we already have a Toyota in the game, I honestly though we played Forza because we like cars and can appreciate even the smallest difference between similar models.

One last thing, if they didn’t put 24 cars how else would the have done the marketing? “The NASCAR Expansion, featuring 3 cars from 2016 £15.99” doesn’t sound great, how about “NASCAR Expansion, featuring 1 car with 3 different engines and 3 different front ends from the front wheel centreline forward, 8 teams, some with 2 cars, some with 3, some even with 4”. Doesn’t sound great only getting 3 cars, yes you are getting 3 models but almost 24 cars, same with Formula E, there are 10 cars there not 1, I would expect if team mates cars were added to be classed as a paint option, like the RLL GTE BMW should have been.

And no its not the same as factory colours on road cars, Turn 10 most likely had to get licences from each individual team. I’m also guessing a team would want its team name and sponsor in the car title as they’d want the exposure from that.

Nobody is arguing the marketing side, the marketing is to get you to be willing to spend $20 for what is 3 car models and 1 track. Which is MUCH more than any of the previous DLC.

I am glad of the new features they are adding to the base game, but the Nascar expansion just really falls short of being worth $20.

Excuse me, but what do you think you’re watching if you see a NASCAR race in person or on TV?

Three car models, all racing on a single track. Three car models adhering to the NASCAR template.

Three car models with stick-on headlights, etc. NASCAR is three car models dressed up as if they’re different, but prettied up on the outside pretending to all be representing different manufacturers and teams because of the almighty marketing dollars available from sponsors, advertisers, admission fees, television rights and those very same three manufacturers.

I assume this pack might be huge for Nascar fans. But them there are only three ovals in the game…and not everyone is dreaming about putting cars out of their comfortzone and wrestle against completely different cars as the promotion suggests.
I am way more interested into the content update… And that comes for free.

So I guess it’s great for some people and so I will not complain. Have fun Nascar fans!

I am British, still live in the UK, and I do not follow Nascar. But I do know that they do not only race on Ovals. From what I do know of the sport, they also race at places such as Watkins Glen.

They do, but it’s very limited, just 2 out of 36 races for the Sprint Cup Series (Watkins Glenn and Sonoma).

The teams/drivers are the “stars” of the pack, not the cars.

I’m going to wait and check out reviews/opinions before I decide on buying or not as since the leak first came out I wasn’t sure so I’ll see what those who get it say and make an educated decision.

My only question… is it possible to do a NASCAR-only race in free play?

The trailer is very cool done btw, kudos to the guys at the Studios responsible for that.

Buy NASCAR Expansion | Xbox Pack is up, 2GB download

Update is live: 1453MB

Live and extremely slow to get going (in spite of me having a 250MBit/s fiberLAN connection). Five minutes and still at 0%. Time to be patient.

mines pretty slow too, not just you

so is this essentially 3 cars and 1 track? for £16 ?? lol !

looks like there should be some track variations. I would say at least 3 probably more. Plus night and rain I’m sure

I used to be a Nascar fan… and I’ve been in and out for years.

I bought Nascar 13 for PC and that was ok.

My point is… you can not have Nascar without oval tracks… There are two road tracks in nascar (which the game already has)… and the whole point of Nascar and why its challenging is the pack racing on ovals, the traffic and the speed… imagine if you will if you are not a nascar fan… a race like talledega or daytona you are racing at about 200MPH… a couple of feet sometimes inches away from the car next to you, in front of you, behind you… one slight mess up screws you, and the people on either side of you and the people behind you… did i mention at 200 MPH?

Thats the fun of nascar.

Not racing a Front Engine, Rear wheeled race car around a FI on track… just give me GT racing.

it only took me 5 min to download on 50MBit/s fiberLAN . done

NASCAR Series also race at Road Atlanta, VIR Short Course, Mosport, (not in FM6), Mid Ohio (Not in FM6) and Road America, so while the big dogs only race 2 road courses the National series, K&N Series and Trucks all race on those tracks and are very similar cars. I believe Cup teams use VIR and Road Atlanta for testing.

Forza where dreams are driven right? that’s the fun of games I can take a some what realistic representation of my favourite racecars and drive on tracks you’d never seem them on for various reasons, I’d love to see the modern BTCC go to the Nurburgring or F1 at Road America or see Aussi V8s around Thruxton and Knockhill, Ok the last one can’t be done yet but there is no reason why cars cant be driven on any other tracks. F1 only go to grade 1 circuits but it doesn’t mean they cant physically drive around a grade 2 or 3 circuit like Donnington Park or Sebring. I’m Actually looking forward to racing NASCAR Cup around Brands Indy as I’d love to see a real NASCAR race there but it wont likely ever happen.

Finished downloading it in about 10 minutes on my cable internets.
