I think we can all agree the community as a whole isn’t a fan of the “CarPG” progression system. I thought of what would be the best way to improve this system without removing it entirely. This is what I came up with:
There’s 5 categories that apply to all cars in the game:
-Country vehicle is from (France,Italy,Japan, etc.)
-Decade vehicle is from (1960s,1970s,1980s, etc.)
-Drivetrain type (FF,FR,RR,MAWD, etc.)
-Vehicle class (Early Sport Compact, Forza GT, Modern Sport GT, etc.)
-Vehicle make (Acura, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Zenvo, etc.)
I feel like this is fair as vehicles from each of these categories drive relative similiar to vehicles of the same category. (Most French cars drive similarly, most Acuras drive similarly, etc.)
Now, once you bring a vehicle to level 50 you gain a car mastery point in each of those 5 categories. And these points increase the starting level of any new vehicle.
So if you bring a 1987 Ferrari F40 to level 50 you get a car mastery point in Italy, 1980s, MR, Exotic GT classics, and Ferrari.
Now if you take a 1995 Ferrari F50 your car starts at level 4 rather than level 1 as it gets points from the country, drivetrain, and vehicle make masteries.
If you then go into something different like a 2017 Acura NSX it will still be level 1 as its a very different car from those of which you’ve already mastered.
This still creates progression but its progression that becomes less of a grind the more you put into it… The more you give it, the more it gives you.
