Forza is the tip of the spear for racing with stunning visuals, realistic simulation and authentic audio.
I’m sure everyone remember the days of Midnight Club by ‘Rockstar’. Ride 2 is the only modern example who have given the biker community a valid effort in the world of Motorsport games recently.
I’d love to see what Turn 10 can do with Motorcycle’s and implement them as part of Forza. Especially as there are now trucks in Forza Motorsport 7 this opens up many opportunities.
In terms of realism, Forza get audio bang on the head and it would be an interesting challenge for the developers to give an authentic experience of motorcycle racing at it’s best given that every other studio has done far from what Turn 10 have achieved in the world of simulating cars. Ride 2 is a good game from Milestone but lacks the polish that Turn 10 delivers so well and it would also generate a Hybrid which would appeal to a larger audience and please many people.
You’d expect everything from Ride 2 in terms of content to be included but with full in depth customization in the Forza style and allow the change of exhausts to change the sounds of the bikes with full licencing etc.
In order to not overshadow the cars, you could give options to choose filters in order to determine if cars and bikes will race separately or together across any game mode.
Split-screen would also be a nice touch across all Forza games
No, Motorcycles should be in any FM game in my opinion. If Forza was to do motorcycles, it should be a different game, rather than putting it in there with the cars.
Forza was made for cars if we add bikes it might as well be onto there Crew addition and let’s not forget about how much graphics may have to suffer and the cost of more dlc possibly sorry I just disagree.
I don’t want to see bikes as an expansion for Forza for more or less the same reason I don’t want an off-road/rally expansion. You’d need a complete, ground up, brand new build of the game to get bikes working properly. You MIGHT be able to get a simplified version of bikes working in a Horizon title, but getting them to work properly in a Motorsport title would be virtually impossible. There was a team that tried to make a motorcycle mod for rFactor once upon a time, couldn’t get it working very well. When PD made Tourist Trophy, they did recycle a bunch of assets from GT4, but the physics involved forced PD to cut the fields drastically and start the races with rolling starts only and with several seconds separating each bike. Keep in mind you don’t just have to replicate the physics of a completely different machine, but also the physics of a human body interacting with that machine. Unfortunately, I don’t think there would be enough interest to justify the kind of investment a company like Turn 10 would need to make to produce such a title to the standards we expect from them. I’d also like to see what SMS could do with it, but they aren’t going to attempt it, either
Now don’t get me wrong, I do like me some bikes (there’s six of the things in my garage right now), and I like me some racing games, but they need to be done properly and not just an essentially half-baked add on. Fortunately for us, more games are coming out after a bit of a dry spell and they seem to be getting quite a bit better all the time. Example, Ride was pretty bad, Ride 2 is actually pretty good, I think, sort of a Forza for motorcycle fans. BigBen is coming out with a TT game in March with a laser scan of the Snaefell Mountain course, hopefully that ends up being a good one. Although, before gets TOO critical of these titles, one should be mindful that Milestone’s yearly budget probably wouldn’t make the insurance payments on Alan Hartman’s fancy new ride.
For all of you saying no to bikes I’d say do it. We need something new than just cars. I’d say put some dirt bikes, choppers, Harleys, Ducatis, and also scooters if they have to also. I’d say add buses too cause I want to customize a school bus to make it even more faster.
In that case try The Crew 2 (no school buses though). The beta version felt pretty decent (for an arcade open-world silly madness game).
Forza was, is and (hopefully) will be only about cars.
