Monthly Rivals being reset daily?

I’m not 100% certain but is the Monthly Rivals being reset daily?

I set a time yesterday for all of the Monthly Rivals, screen-capped their respective leaderboards, but today when I open the leaderboards (or even the Monthly Rivals page), I no longer have any times submitted in any of the races. The leaderboards still retain some of my friends’ times, but it wiped out a good 1/4 of them between yesterday and today. Oddly enough, my time is still being stored somewhere as it is referencing my time under “Gap To RIval” to be negative seconds (eg. ahead of the slowest time submitted).

This originally occurred during the previous season Horizon Cars & Coffee Monthly Rivals but I thought nothing of it as it was perhaps a one-time bug. Seeing as it happened again, I’d like to know if anyone else is experiencing this.

I’m playing on the Microsoft Store variant on Windows 10 if that matters.

Yep, https://forums.forza.net/t/fh5-connection-issues-after-august-2024-update/729583/15?u=lsd51zen

As mentioned in the season thread, this is an issue that was discussed a few times over the past two series but still they refuse to accept that it’s an issue.

For those that are affected, are you on PC as well? How many of your friends’ times stayed since you submitted your score?

I play on both PC and XSX.
This problem:
no - Series 34 (Horizons Retrowave) :white_check_mark: :heavy_check_mark:
apperared - Series 35 (Modern Horizons) :warning::exclamation:
disappeared - Series 36 (Horizon Cars & Coffee) :ballot_box_with_check: :heavy_check_mark:
appeared, again - Series 37 (High-Performance Dailies) :warning::bangbang:

I only play on Xbox series X.
For me the problem started in S35, briefly resolved itself then reappeared in S35. Continued in S36 and seems to be back again in S37.
In both previous series I beat the originals and multiple others constantly but it kept on going. Not done many yet in this series as I’ve been busy on other personal stuff.

I’ve confirmed that none of my friends see my submitted times either. They received the notification regarding having a rival to beat, but upon loading in, they don’t see any of my submissions.

I’ve also now confirmed that unless you beat your prior best, it will not post your new time regardless of how much faster you were than any of the others in your friends list. This means the original submission is still being logged somewhere in the server but the leaderboard is not pulling from that log.

It’s still an odd and annoying bug that needs fixing.
I get the first bit about beating the prior time but in each time this has appeared over the past few series I’ve beaten the original and numerous other times (not necessarily friends list) but it still goes back to the original - not the last or prior to last beaten time.
So I’ve beaten my prior best many times but still get presented with the original.
No idea what’s going on but just wish they’d sort it out as it’s been a bug for months now.

Edit
Just re-ran the first two Monthly Rivals and it reset the time to beat as two new people. Both however were well slow and dirty laps even though I had already beaten a few with clean laps. Why would I get dirty runs to beat ? :man_shrugging:

I then managed to beat the previous last two clean runners that I should’ve been matched with anyway ( by quite a margin ) so we’ll just have to see if it resets again next time I run them.

It was random in S35 as it started working for a bit then went back to what we have and has been ongoing for the past 3 series (35,36 &37) so why isn’t it sorted by now?
All they need to do is go back to S34, see what’s been changed either in that part of the coding or in other parts that would affect it and sort it out with an easy starting point to look into the coding for specialist programmers.

Getting dirty laps to beat would make sense since your old times were not being pulled. As for why it isn’t resolved, probably because there are even older issues that still persist, and the development team can only do so much.

My Rivals times have now been up for 23 hours. I will continue to monitor to see when they are affected

Well it never used to be that way before S35. The last rival was always there no matter what.

My first rival was a clean lap in both of these so why it started throwing in dirty laps after that is confusing. I beat the clean lap rival and several others on the way so dirty laps being given are just nonsense.
It just needs fixing and, as I say, it shouldn’t be hard to figure out the cause using the previous series settings in the coding over what changed in S35.
They just need to start looking at it instead of ignoring.
Not sure what older issues you mean as most of the issues I see being reported in the forums are of no real significance - mainly aesthetic things that have no real concern in-game.

Basically, if your time is not being recalled, the rivals you will match with are going to be the bottom of all players and/or your friends list–dirty or not. I agree it needs fixing. Leaderboards being awash with glitch/mod users yet these times are the ones being purged makes no sense.

As for what older issues: FH5 Known Issues – Forza Support (forzamotorsport.net)

Yes but as I say it was never the case before.
Friends or not - none of the originals beaten were on the friends list - the laps beaten were all clean so why throw in dirty laps ?
It does need fixing and I alluded to the possibility that they were updating the overall leaderboard times back in S35 when it started could be causing the issue.

The overalls and monthlies should be a separate area of concern.
The overall leaderboards have needed clearing up since day 1 so I agree this should be a major concern and something that needs to be done but it shouldn’t affect the monthlies.

One thing I’ve been having for well over a year is the lack of E-Brake. I’ve given up on bothering with reporting it now as they could never replicate it - Xbox series X player so an MS or Forza issue - but it wasn’t game changing as I could get around it by switching to M/C, doing some E-Brakes then switching back to M which keeps it in place, It’s just an annoyance now that I have to do it each time the game starts.

Were you the first of your friends to submit a time for the Monthly Rivals? That would be why the original times you beat weren’t on your friends list and possibly not dirty.
Then after it deletes your time and your friends finally run the Rivals, it would show your friends’ times–dirty or not–as you no longer have a submission according to the leaderboards.

This is why I’m trying to collect more information for the developers. Something has gone wrong since then and I’m trying to pinpoint who/what is being affected and how.

Various Forza Support members:

Thank you for the updates. Your understanding of the situation with Forza Horizon 5 is greatly appreciated.
Our team has thoroughly reviewed your case and others player with the same situation with rivals, we are working on this. We have recollected the information and pass it on to our development team for further examination.

Thank you for taking the time to update us on this. I have sent your information over to our devs to investigate more.

I only do Monthly Rivals once, but this time I checked to see if the cheat times were still atop the Fiesta leaderboard after the season changed, just to see if it’s worth reporting. And… they’re still there, so like the regular leaderboards, PGG & MS don’t care about cheaters.

Incidentally, I have sometimes tried to race the leader’s ghost, just to see where their speed comes in, but in the Camry race, I led it all the way, finishing far enough ahead that its position marker dot was just visible on the mini map, yet I still ‘lost’ to their 5 second run. So no speed or grip or teleporting hacks with this one.

I have no idea on how to respond.
As said - none of the originals were on friends lists or any of the subsequent beaten times.
It was fine up until S35 so all they need to do is review the coding previous and see what had changed.

You’ve been given the usual Forza responses - We don’t have a clue what’s going on and we’ll try to fix it but thanks for your feedback - but they never do try and never fix it. I guess this could be because they try to replicate things within their own private servers rather than doing it in the real world online where the rest of us live.

Seriously - a 5 second run on a 5.9 mile track - if that’s not a dodgy time that they can’t easily see and delete then what is ?

n.b. looks from here that the FH5 servers are down again so giving up now on the game.

Yeah, it’s a shame you can’t report the lap, just the player. It’s about the only thing that’s better in Forza Motorsport - you can view a replay of the whole lap and report it, so the devs can quickly see what’s occurred. I don’t know if FH5 reporting links to the specific activity or if they have to search. Some people are so blatant though, getting every single achievement in one day, for example. Because they never seemed to clean up leaderboards in previous games, I’m wondering if it’s worth the effort.

Thing is, most of the rival lap times are so obvious ( 0 second lap times up to say 30 seconds on laps that are impossible in that time, 30,000 feet jumps etc ) that they could easily blitz them without even a review.
I don’t really worry about them these days though as I know when I see a wrong time or whatever as soon as I see it and just think well, you’re only cheating yourself rather than actually competing.
The game has so many areas that I’ve lost faith in that I just don’t care about it anymore but when it starts to affect the regular playlist then it needs to be sorted out.
