Have you tried loading the game while disconnected from the internet? For me, if my local save is ok I would make a change to update it so I could confidently skip the sync, or trick the sync into just letting me select my local save. I can’t see that making an offline save and forcing that one to be used is wrong. Of course, I don’t know but it’s your machine and your internet connection, you make the saves you want.
