I am all for the locked threads etc. most of them are just reworded at best old threads etc. same old boohoo stories or stupid requests repeated again and again and again…
anyways, I was curious cant you just delete them? or merge all the stupid stuff into one big locked thread? I only ask because it seems as though people can not understand basic things and the whole first page becomes a list of locked threads and bumping actual threads with stuff that may be useful down or off the page.
by no means am i trying to tell you how to do your jobs… just asking a question.
THREAD LOCKED? and deleted if the mood strikes ya!
They couldnt just delete them cause the author of the thread needs to be able to see the answer when they return to look for it, otherwise they would just create another thread. It could be an idea to move them all to a “trashcan” sub forum and then if someone feels strongly that their thread is justified they could appeal by PM to a mod to have it moved back into the live threads.
Aaaactually, they could, but then they’d need to PM the OP explaining the reason the thread was locked. But yes, threads can be merged, but my guess, is that with the new system, everyone’s kind of trying to figure them out, lol.
If mods delete a topic, then the user would simply create another one. Not knowing the first one was deleted, or why. Sometimes people just want to b heard. So they get “thank you for your input”, or an email link to reach turn 10 directly. Being that this is Turn 10’s forums and not a fansite, a little tact and customer service is needed. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if board procedure, including the decision to lock or delete threads was made by a board admin (likely employed by Turn 10).
Anyways, speaking of cluttering up the forum, you could have asked this question to a moderator by reaching them in private message. It may take time to get a response, but then it wouldn’t clutter the Forza 5 discussion forum with a non-Forza 5 topic. I’ve found the mods to be pretty nice (the ones I’ve interacted with), and willing to answer questions in a relatively timely manor (often within 24 hours). Just a suggestion.
look dude, you wouldn’t go to the middle of the floor in best buy and start screaming to everyone that you don’t like the way they sweep the floors. you discreetly find a employee and point out the issue. that’s just being respectful while you’re in a place that doesn’t belong to you.
if you have an issue with a product or service, you are allowed to have conversations with other customers about your opinions and experiences. good or bad. but the second you become a behavioral disruption you will be asked to leave the store. or in the case of a forum, your content will be made undisruptive. and you may be banned and/or have all your posts subject to moderation until they feel as though you can behave without supervision.
this forum isn’t yours. it belongs to t10. they are doing their best at not censoring the negative feedback so long as the commentary is behaviorally acceptable. which says a lot for them.
I always enjoyed that one. “Listen to me! I’m going to report this mod! Surely there will be a SuperMod (aka Dragnet) that will read my post! RAHH RAHH RAHHH RAAAH!!”
So true and the way some people went about never got old just watching them dig a deeper and deeper hole for themselves before their eventual ban from the forums
Moderator propaganda! Nothing more. Everyone knows the whole thing is because of the Illuminate and the darn mind control contrails. Hiding the truth they are. YOU CAN"T HANDLE THE TRUTH!
Posting your opinion about a the game is NOT against forum rules. Deleting it would be blatant censorship, locking it is bad enough.
There ARE two things that are against forum rules though. One is discussing others posts, two is discussing moderating procedures. This thread violates both and should be the one instalocked with a "thanks for the input, here’s an automated email address. "
There are ways to discuss opinions. There are ways to get threads locked. “Tone” of a post and history of the user has a lot to do with how we judge you. Yep, that’s right. We judge you. If you’d like more examples of why threads get locked and why others don’t, please PM me, or send an email to forzafb@microsoft.com complaining about the moderation policy. They will read it. I promise.
Other than that, MiMiC, he’s right. Moderation policy isn’t up for discussion, and you could have just as easily asked Worm or me in a Party (even though the Party System is usually broken), or via PM. I’m going to lock this for now, but if you’d like me to delete it, by all means, let me know.
