Moderators

What is the process for becoming a moderator in the forums?

It seems to me there is a need for at least a couple more moderators to help balance the spread of power.

And to give forum users other avenues of recourse when actions are taken.

Agree, then mods can post “off duty” vs. “on duty”. Like Clark Kent vs. Superman. Special powers on standby as regular posting member, so all opinions can be heard on level field. The community as it were.

Well im just guessing as its not up to me but Id assume a good start would be to have a clean record, not be on your last warning or to have never posted anything or done anything that could get you an instant ban, be regularly on the forums etc

And as far as the who? Who exactly would be the who? I’m sure you have someone you have to report to.

Max

And Max reports to who?

youd have to ask max but Im unsure if the staffing structure is something hed be willing to talk about.

Consider it ask!

okay ?

If there’s no other recourse than you and Max then there needs to be some form of open forum where members “of the community” can freely voice their discontent with certain happenings without fear of retribution.

You could set up your own, make yourself the owner and set your own rules (and do anything you want) or join an existing one like reddit (but youd have to follow their rules) ?

I’m speaking within this forum.

No, this forum is owned and operated by MS and T10 and as such they set the rules of this forum. If you fail to follow those rules there will be consequences. Do you have a room in your house people can just show up to, enter and do whatever they like ?

And as such, those rules are stated plainly.

I’m not entirely convinced those rules were strictly followed regarding the last two members (not talking about myself, thats old hat now).

And if there’s no balance of power, there’s room for abuse of power.

Even if you don’t allow a couple more moderators to help smooth out the operations, allowing for peer review would take the burden of oversight off of the moderators.

so ill assume you dont have a room like that, do you have a room that just random people off the street can come into as long as they follow the house rules and sit and critique your choice of carpet and curtains ? Ill assume no again.

So its ‘nice’ of MS and T10 to supply such a place isnt it ?

The problem is if people in the house start to think they can set the rules, they dont want to go all the way up stairs to the bathroom, theyll just use the sink in the kitchen and when the owner kicks the offender out the other folk think they can have a poll to let them back in again or think they should be the ones setting the rules.

One of the rules in this house that people seem to keep breaking over and over again is the one about no discussion about moderation or enforcement on the forums.

So your posting in this thread was fine until you posted that last message and then you broke the rules by questioning moderation decisions on the open forum.

Would you please show me that rule.

Bro just give up, your never gonna win this battle you keep trying to fight…

I’ve not seen @ManteoMax ever mock a thread or a member, or be anything other than straightforward and sincere. Couldn’t imagine him editing comments in a thread he posted in.

Also puzzling why there is even an issue like this, never have seen anything like it in other FH/FM forums here.

I also don’t expect to witness or endure disrespectful people per rules here, including staff. People with power who believe they’re smarter than others, above others, are often not as remarkable as they’d believe.
