Moderator Pro Tip: Ban Threads

Seriously, please do not post in a ban thread.

Those of you that have been here for more than five minutes know we do not allow the discussion of bans here on the forums. While we appreciate that most of you are just trying to help, please direct your altruistic efforts elsewhere and leave such threads for the moderation staff to handle.

We trust that this reminder will serve to obviate the need for the less than gentle means (Dragnet) available to us.

Have a nice day!

Are we allowed to read them and chuckle a little and smile inside? That’s what I do and I don’t think I can stop.

By all means, enjoy.

The best ones are where they get an explanation of exactly why they were banned.

if only i could get an explanation of exactly why i got banned! everybody can read it, smile about it, but please give me an explanation!
only answer i got is: you’ve got a ban for breaking the rules… what rule!? i race clean, i do not have a mic so no shouting or anything , i even apologise when i hit somebody by sending a message to that person.
still i got banned for a week.

Your post regarding the ban was answered by someone who did not have specific information and referred you properly to the Turn 10 contact address, forzafb@microsoft.com.

Exact answer: Violation of the Xbox Live Code of Conduct, i.e., unsportsmanlike conduct in online FM6 races by deliberately crashing other participants.

If you’re already followed the instructions in the post, have patience. It takes a while for Turn 10 to process all the emails. You will receive an automated response so you know it was received, directing you to these forums.

However, neither bans nor the enforcement of the regulations by Turn 10 employees are discussed on these forums.

My favorites are the ones where they say “I was crashed multiple times so I started crashing people. I don’t know why I’m banned” I always get a good laugh outta those!

Or the “I always race clean and never crash into Anyone” ones, which is pretty much always a bunch of lies!

Yeah, those are hilarious

But we never get a message or ANYTHING if a player you reported got banned or not, so we have no clue who is banned, maybe if you’d send a message in forza or a message n Xbox we’d stop, we have no clue about anything. Your corporation is probably the worst at communication with its players

A ban is a private matter between the gamertag and the authorized employees doing the bans. “You” don’t need to know the action taken, just as “you” wouldn’t appreciate the dissemination of information if you were banned. That has always been the policy, is Xbox Live policy too.

Xbox Live (the Policy Enforcement Team - PET) does send out a generic message if you file a report via the process in the Xbox One Dashboard:
“Thanks for helping make Xbox Live safer for everyone! We took action on one or more of the recent complaints you filed. For more information: www.xbox.com/live/complaint-feedback”

If you wish more information, follow that link.

With that being said, maybe some of the mods could also be more respectful? Yeah, a player got banned. They messed up. It’s not necessary to completely mock them for their mistake. Also, a little more kindness and a lot less negativity towards other forum users would go a long way.

Last I checked this is still a GAME, yes!!! As for employees doing the bans, we all know that moderators are all non-employee volunteers, so what gives with this new declaration of “employees doing the bans” stuff?

If you don’t want people posting in them, why not lock them from the beginning, since almost all of them have drivers license status and their posts have to be approved by a mod to even show on the forum.

Ban threads caught in the moderation queue are approved, responded to and then immediately locked. Any ban thread you see that hasn’t been locked did not originate in the moderation queue.

I know you’re not suppose to post messages regarding bans but how many of the people that post them know that?

If I was a new person to the game and did something that got me banned, I may not understand why. What would I do? Maybe I would check the website. I’m just interesting in finding out why I’m banned. I would just post something on the forum asking why. I wouldn’t read all the stuff about what is allowed on the website. Remember, I’m the person that starting crashing into people because people where crashing into me.

I could see the above happening. How often is this the first person’s post? I’m not defending what they are doing but I can see how it could happen.

I would suggest having a sticky post about being banned titled something like, “If you have been BANNED please check here”. There would be one post listing the main reasons for bans. Followed by a message saying whom to contact for more information and a warning not to post in the forums about the ban.

I don’t know if this would do any good but it might help.

And there is no prohibition about posting by a person who has been banned.

“Neither individual bans nor the enforcement of the Code of Conduct by Turn 10 employees are discussed on these forums.”

Yes, I can write that in my sleep, coming up on almost 10 years of it. That means there’s no open debating a joke supposedly only for a friend, something a friend you let have either your Xbox Live password or use your Xbox while you were at work and he/she posted something on your account, the meaning of “implied profanity” OR the judgment of Turn 10’s employees authorized to execute the bans.

A banned person may ask, and will receive a response. A Friend, teammate or anyone who wants to argue a point, may not. A sticky? How many stickies are there, and how many posts should go there but are started new each day? How many times has someone asked for the contact information for Turn 10. That is in a sticky, and has been posted thousands of times.
