Message of support for Turn10

Hello, a quick message for the Turn10 team in these difficult times. Half of their team has been laid off by the ogre Microsoft. I hope this doesn’t mean the end of the Forza Motorsport license. We’re told that you’re going to focus exclusively on Horizon, and I, who love circuit simulations, am crossing my fingers that all this is false. I’ve been playing Forza Motorsport since the very beginning, the Xbox GT killer as it was called. I admit that until the last Forza Motorsport 2023 I played exclusively in single player mode but since 2023 I only play multiplayer. I know that many criticize the new formula, but I married them. Too bad the game is still not perfectly stable, but I still love it as much. Support Turn10 long live the studio, courage we love you!

Hi.
Based on what i heard over at gtplanet, unfortunately, this is the end. :sob:
I don’t want to be negative, but based on the current news, not only the current Forza Motorsport will never get anymore content updates, but there won’t be a new Forza Motorsport too.
There are rumors that the T10 will continue to improve ForzaTech engine and support PGG.
In my opinion, i wouldn’t be surprised if they switch to Unreal Engine (Something that Halo Studios (343 Industries) did.)

There was no future forza motorsport planned.. thats how they communicated 2023.. this current one is based on live service.. but.. no one there for even this.. :man_shrugging::face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

I really have rediscovered Forza from some months, following the delusion to have seen EVO in Alpha version instead of early access.
I followed all the updates and I rediscovered the joy to use my e-sim rig.
I read about Microsoft’s layoff but now I would like to hear some official communication from Turn10 instead of a rumors from an ex employee.

Some news?

The only way i can rationalize the continuation of support in light of these layoffs is two ways.

  1. They’re going all in on H1b visas/ temp workers doing 18 month shifts because their soulless bean counters say it’s the most profitable way to continue work at T10.

  2. They’re going all in on AI for game development for the positions they cut. It seems early for this, but it very clearly is the end goal for every single software company in the world right now.

To expand on point 2. The reality is that every corporation is looking at AI to do exactly this; replace humans on their staff with 6 figure salaries. Yes i realize that alot of AIs capabilities are blown out of proportion. I find the idea that AI can implement a new track into Forza in 1/100th the time that a bunch of humans could previously do unrealistic today.

But it literally one day won’t be, and when that day comes, its manifestation will feel extremely sudden.

Get your pitchforks ready to demand a UBI folks.

Well they should go off and make a spiritual successor to FM4. That’s the last great FM game. Tons of cars, tons of events and less time trying to finish “Tours” in a limited time just for a spike in concurrent players. T10’s management was swept away by MS executives promising them the world. Now those same execs canned them for not making a FM worth playing.

It’s a grim time, i really hope they are still sticking with Forza…

It’s over. Will see if any new updates come for this game. Surely they will send a message soon.

Without Forza Motorsport, there would be no success for Forza Horizon. Without Forza Motorsport providing realistic cars and physics, Forza Horizon would just be another average arcade racing game like The Crew or Need for Speed.

Moreover, Forza Motorsport, Halo, and Gears of War are the symbols of Xbox gaming. Forza Motorsport must not be abandoned!

Forza Motorsport is not a bad game—quite the opposite. At launch, it received a score of 9 from IGN and 8 from GameSpot.

Moreover, after a year of updates, the game’s quality has improved significantly compared to its launch state. By now, it should be around a 90-level game by Metacritic standards.
Forza Motorsport is such an important game for both Microsoft and its fans. Its quality remains highly competitive among games in the same genre.

Forza Motorsport should not—and must not—be abandoned!

Unfortunately whats done is done

Well that’s 2 of my favourite racing titles dropped this year.

WRC and now FM.

At least I’ve got LMU and there are other titles coming.

Nobody knows whats done yet though.

There is a massive difference between ending major updates for fm8, and never making an FM 9 ever again.

Nothing is for sure the devs have not spoken yet

Well going by what is known, what do you think it means? The studio is still open, there are still workers there, but the workers who lost their jobs were directly tied to the forza motorsport game.

Its been said it will be kept “up and running”, so the game is not shutting down. The live servive lead has been let go, this could suggest the live service has no future which means no more content updates. But realistically, that is just an official job title and anyone could take over that role.

Many cars are made by contractors, both at turn 10 and abroad. Contractors dont get laid off, so if theyre still there, their work will continue until their contracts up. Im leaning towards there will be some more cars added, but i think theyll be paid dlc rather than free. I think if sales are good, this could continue.

But as far as a future motorsport title, i dont see that being in the cards anytime soon if at all. If there was a new game made, it will not be by the team who made this or past titles as they are no longer employed. But it was said before the release of this game that a sequel wasnt planned as this was supposed to be an ever expanding game.

You dont need a big team of people to rotate multiplayer lobbies or add career events. You dont need in house people to make cars, if overseas contractors can do the same for less money.

So while it is true we dont know exactly whats going to happen, i think theres enough info to come to certain conclusions. The core game has been the same for 20 years, the main additions have been cars and tracks. This could continue for years if they choose to do so.

They just recently released a paid dlc car pack. It’d be an odd time to do so if things were totally being shut down. But it also could have been the final test to see if this game could generate money. If it didnt sell well, than its possible that was the nail in the coffin.

Eventually they’ll be able to type into a prompt “design model and balance the latest Bugatti” and it’ll do it for the low low cost of a few tons of co2 getting burned in some third world country. :upside_down_face:

I think it’s obvious they’re will be another Forza Motorsport. Whether it’s in six years, 20 years or 50 years, the name recognition alone will give it a better chance then a new IP. Especially if horizon is still popular

I think the next 10 years will be interesting. With the direction automobiles seem to be going in with electrification and young peoples interest in cars waning, the genre might become more niche than it already is. I could see the games that exist now as the only real options for racing fans.

Give us an offline mode, you got our money, now the servers will get shuttered and the game wont work. Basically theft isn’t it?

If FM 2023 is the last one, I’ll just sell my racing wheel and quit with racing games. Besides FM and Assetto Corsa, there is nothing left on PC. And Assetto Corsa is released once per 10 years.

Rennsport | Le Mans Ultimate | Project Motor Racing | Assetto Corsa EVO

What’s wrong with these racing games?)
If I’m not mistaken, each of them is planning to be released on all platforms: PS | xBox | PC.
