This issue has persisted since the first Forza Motorsport on the original Xbox, but it was somehow made worse when the car returned in Horizon 4 Car Pass after a 7 years long hiatus from the series. The Mazda RX-7 Spirit R model in Forza is a complete and thorough failure to capture most aspects of this car’s exterior. Every single element that was acceptable on the Xbox 360 model was ruined when the car returned on the Xbox One generation.
The model is based on the standard 1993 RX-7 Touring 1997 RX-7, which itself is entirely inaccurate to a point where it’s been confirmed that it will be getting remodeled in the future, and for this reason I hope that the Spirit R does not get left out, as did the Vauxhall Monaro VXR in Motorsport 4 and then later in Horizon 4.
All comparison gifs present here were taken in Forza Horizon 4 (PC)
The entire front end of the car is, for the lack of a better word, abysmal. Every single part of the front bumper is shaped and scaled incorrectly to a point where I can say making this comparison gif was torture not because of the real life photo. The whole front bumper is stretched forwards and at a very sharp angle as if it was a snowplow. The bumper lights are significantly too large. Inaccurate side vent and indicator positioning is identical to the standard RX-7 model, and on top of it the Spirit R logo is too large. Obviously, everything is wrong with the pop-up headlights too.
The rear end is around as bad, but that is again due to this model being just the standard RX-7 FD3S with a different front bumper, wheels, spoiler and seats. The entire rear end is either too short or extremely deformed in some other way, but the bumper and the lights are certainly all shaped incorrectly. Additionally, in Forza Motorsport the lights themselves are taken from the early model FD3S. The ride height and wheel spacing is also incorrect, but the car on my photos seems to have been slightly lowered.
As a little extra, here are comparison gifs of the standard RX-7 FD3S. The model was last modified in Forza Motorsport 5 (2013), but the Xbox 360 model is still somehow present as lower LOD models.
When creating a new base RX-7 FD3S model, please also make a new model for the Spirit R.
