Simple things need putting right

This to some may seem a little nitty-picky but to others it will appeal more. There are numerous car specification problems in all of the Forza games. The biggest one for me is with the Toyota Supra MkIV RZ. That being that the Supra in all of the games is claimed to be an RZ model, which it isn’t! First example: in Forza 2 the “RZ Supra” is eligible for an N/A aspiration race. Big problem straight away: the RZ Supra is a TWIN TURBO model. In addition, the J-Spec RZ twin turbo, which is the model in the games, should have a 0-60 of 5.0/5.1, however the in-game version has a 0-60 of 5.3s, which is what the SZ non-turbo and SZ-R single turbo models have.
In addition the Skyline R34 is given it’s best possible spec which is the V-spec Nur II version. Don’t get me wrong; the Skyline is a brilliant car but as a Supra lover, it would be nice if we could get the best possible spec for the MkIV RZ model, which is the UK version which had bigger pot brakes, increasing stop distance, and smaller, more powerful turbos. The comparison (basic numbers):
J-spec RZ TT: 320bhp, 315 ft torque, 0-60: 5.1s, 170/173mph.
UK-spec RZ TT: 326bhp, 321 ft torque, 0-60: 4.6s/4.9s, 180-183mph.
The last thing I’d like to add is the choice of tail lights for the Supra. In all of the Forza games there is only the style which comes on the car, which is the style with the grey fill between the bulbs. It would be nice to have the choice between that style and the style with the black fill which look more definite between the bulbs.

Modification on the supra, aesthetically, need some tweaks too: the Bomex body kit is as it should be except the front bumper. There’s no inlet on the bottom of the front bumper but in the games there is, which I don’t get. If accuracy is critical, surely the accuracy of the body kit is just as important. In relation the body kits, custom bonnets: in all of the games there’s only one variant of modified bonnets. It would be nice to have a few iconic styles such as the 4-vent variant featured on the orange Supra in the Fast an the Furious; and the bonnet variant featured on the stock UK Supra which has a vent in the centre to aid cooling of the top cylinders.

In addition to the Supra, the Enzo’s spec is a tad out: the games’ Enzo has a 0-60 of 3.3s but the Enzo has a 0-60 of 3.2s. There are a few others but I won’t go into more detail. The Supra was the primary focus!

That said, I’m not saying that what’s already in the games is wrong, just that I can’t “Drive my dream” if the car isn’t what it says on the in.

I wouldn’t get too hung up on details like these. In the US they use BHP and here in Europe and Japan they generally measure in PS (Metric Horsepower). Many manufacturers state the same figure for PS and BHP although 1 PS is actually 0.986 BHP. You’ll find actual BHP differers from stated BHP in many if not most cars. As for performance, standard equipment, safety features, wheel size and tyres can vary depending on market and these affect acceleration figures. There are also regional differences in fuels. In the case of the Enzo where are you getting your 0-60 time? If it’s a Ferrari figure that’ll be the best time out of X number of starts and as the Enzo clutch is only good for three of four “launches” it’s not something many journalists got a chance to try. I don’t think a tenth makes much difference either way.

Turn 10 don’t make their figures up. The cars are featured under licence so the specs you see in the game are official.

As for plastic body panels - I’m not into that sort of thing myself. If this were a modding game I’m sure there’d be lots of body kits, slammed suspension and stretched tyres. As its a motorsport game you’d have to expect them to focus on the sort of components you’d be more likely to see on a race prepared car rather than at a custom show.

UK Spec Supra has a lot more than just a Bonnet Scoop… Rear lights are different, front lights are slightly different, UK Spec has more power as well as headlight washers. The scoop on the bonnet of the UK Spec Supra is more for the intakes than cooling of the head.

Just Saying…

The Supra in the game is perfect the way it is IMHO, Facelift US Spec. The only thing that I would like to see added is the TRD bodykit options (Front & Rear Bumper, Bonnet and Side Skirts) as well as the TRD spoiler.

Also keep in mind the source for the cars.

The cars are licensed from the Manufacturer who do own the rights and likeness to the vehicle and their permission must be acquired to use it. Then, Toyota might not have a Supra to provide Turn10 for modelling, Turn10 might not be able to feasibly travel to Japan to model a Supra, Toyota does have a Supra to model but it’s not the one Turn10 necessarily wanted, who knows… there are many reasons for some of these little visual things that may differ from car to car.

For all you know, Turn10 got permission from Toyota to use the Supra in game and an employee owns one so that one was used for in-game modelling purposes.

It would also take a lot of time and work, to go through and make tons of little, non-game braking, visual changes to many cars and this would detract from the time needed to model other cars and tracks in the game. I wrote about this in a different thread, but Turn10 has said it takes roughly 6 months to model 1 car. We can assume that this does not mean 6 months time, but 6 months of work-time, which would be equal to 1032 man hours of work. Also note that Turn10 studios employs about 300 employees and all may not be programmers and developers. Do the math…

I hope Turn10 reads forums because I’ve constantly posted things about tuner cars and very little has been done. There’s always the same small selection of visual upgrades. More specifically, I’m a Supra nut and have been very annoyed at the inaccuracy in spec and some visual elements. The main focus of what I’m getting at it that the Supra is claimed to be an RZ, which is a twin turbo, but the spec given is a J-spec SZ non-turbo model (or SZ-R at best) and the tail lights are annoying me too. There are two variants of lights for the MkIV: the ones which the game has always given (with the thicker grey fill between the bulbs) and, personally the more attractive set, which are the lights with the more detailed black fill between the bulbs. Alternatively, the UK-spec lights would be very nice to see, along with the higher performance UK-spec model. And the BoMeX front bumper has been annoying me since the first version of the game --there’s still the annoying inlet on the front bumper which shouldn’t be there. Just as the Fast and Furious Supra in Forza 6 has, the front bumper should be one edge without an inlet.
The case with The Fast and the Furious Supra is that the back lights are wrong. That model has the lights with the crisper black fill between the bulbs.

Additionally, a race cup which is specifically for tuner heads and Japanese rivals would be nice and give some nostalgic reliving.

I know a lot of people will say this is nit picky, though I hope at least some agree with me, but as a Supra - and tuner car lover it’d be nice to have the choice to make it my dream car.

Being a Supra fan and Owner IRL, while it’s not perfect in game, none of the cars are. And that’s something we all have to live with. They use the cars they are able to attain models of and use that as reference.

Black taillights are from Series 1 Supra and Grey from the Series 2

You do realize there is more then one style of Bomex body kit right? They happen to choose the less common version.

Probably because they used the model they already had and added the other Bomex kit to it.

Really none of this game breaking and I’m betting none of it will be changed. I’m sorry to say you just have to learn to live with it the way it is.
