Joined Forza TC with circa 2:30 left on entry, was loaded into a lobby with 3 other players, went into qualifying and was left with one other driver on the grid when I came out of it. Our best race lap differed by 0.021s, but I made several mistakes so we finished 4s apart.
If they do this, it would definitely kill whatever little momentum this game had. It is in their best interest to hit fix this asap, otherwise why did they even release this game in the first place?
Hi all, letting you know that our current telemetry is showing that lobby sizes are not what they should be, and the team is continuing to look at this and tune the system. We’ll let you know when we have more info.
Could a fix come until the new content tomorrow?
And just that is why i aint racing and i think that goes for many
Thanks for the update.
Moreso for curiosity, what should they be? Are you guys targeting an average of 10 cars per lobby, 16, 24?
In a recent AMA it was revealed the target was 10-12 but that was before this update and the patch notes refer to “more”, so would 16 be an accurate number?
Once we start seeing lobbies with >12 players, that’ll be the sign that the issue has been fixed. Individual lobbies will vary in the 12-24 range of course.
So… Now I tried an OPEN A CLASS event
With 7 minutes before access Closes… this what happened
1st try 2 people lobby
2nd try 4 people lobby
3rd try 3 people lobby
4th try 3 people lobby
5th try 6 people lobby
6th try 5 people lobby
all different lobbies
Now ill go to a Touring Car Event
with FULL 12 minutes before access closes
Now i will stay until the race starts to see how many players joins…
and… only 7 players…
so, with yesterday and tonight i must say that MY “matchmaking” experience is WORSE.
Prior to update 18 I was getting 16-24 players per lobby
Please let me know if i can provide more data.
No hotfix arrived yet, mate I work 12 hours a day and i get 1-2 hours of time to play this game and I enter a lobby to find 3-4 players.
Yeah. We need a hotfix, specially in a day when every content is gonna come out, like today.
Yes i really hope they fix it before the sebring 12 hours
Part of it depends on the time of day I’m playing, then there’s unpopular events. But mostly it’s seeing people joining then leaving straight away as there’s not a near full server. If everyone does that I can see why it’s hard to fill a server.
I may be missing something, but I’m not sure why they don’t have a registration period and then create lobbies whenever the actual race begins. That’s how pretty much every other big sim racing title does it.
The matchmaking algorithm after the change contains some big errors. I am Japanese, and there are not many Japanese players. This matchmaking result seems to be the result of Ping being prioritized too much.

One thing I’ve noticed over the years is that Forza likes to do things differently with many of their systems.
That’s often a good thing but sometimes when an optimal solution is found, “doing it their way” results in something a little clunkier in my eyes. Matchmaking is one example, timed race finishes is another, (the lack of) flags etc.
Dear @T10ManteoMax,
it would be interesting to know how you’re trying to increase the number of players in the lobbies.
There is no mention in your post on how you match players according to skill rating and safety rating. Are you just putting together drivers with very different level of skills? If yes, for sure this will increase the number if players in the lobby, but it might negatively affect the quality and the balance of the races.
You know that we can’t check the level of our opponents since you have decided from the beginning to keep it hidden. Is the ranking still considered in matchmaking?
Maybe the feedback you’re asking for should include an evaluation of the behaviour of other players during the race.
Sorry, but its a absolute joke.
10 attempts at joining one of the most popular tracks, and mot one lobby over 6 leople.
Youve just lost a loyal player
Revert back immediatly
This is by far the biggest step back ive ever seem
The problem i think is that they aren’t going to wholesale change it for this game. Whether that is because of massive coding (change or introduce new), lack of vision, mere stubbornness, or some combination of all 3.
Unless they actually stick with this game for the long haul, i don’t really see it changing to a system that makes sense. In about our of optimism in that front.
At this point, with this playerbase, simply filling lobbies should probably be the goal in the current events. Doesn’t mean scrapping safety and driver rating, but instead have special events that users a different system for matching before the event begins. This is assuming they plan to stick with the game longterm, and a special event would give them some idea of how popular a proper system with proper splits would be.
