Matchmaking is bad

Sorry if my being good upsets you. I’m as good as I am for my level of play. And that’s good enough for me. If you don’t like it that way then it’s time for us to just move along. I’ll race my good, and you race your good.

Later…

And with that I would like to say, you my friend, are a good racer. And I hope to meet up with you on the track some time.

There aren’t that many players anymore, sooner or later we’ll definitely meet each other. I know a few names now that I keep coming across. My gamertag is also the same as here in the forum. See you soon. :slightly_smiling_face:

Sick.

It’s early morning in the US and the middle of the work day in Europe.

Maybe nobody is online, queueing up for X, and has similar ratings to yourself.

These people are nowhere near 4000. probably 2000 at BEST, so there’s no excuse they can’t just merge everyone together.

Even with a full lobby at peak hours, at least half of the players are 15-20 seconds off pace, a quarter of them quit.

You can literally turn on all assists (auto drive) and only be off by 5-6 seconds. I do not understand it.

There is no saving the people who choose to drive the 919 Hybrid, an utter failure of a car. That car shouldn’t be X Class.

What is it you want exactly.

If it’s a full grid of people on your skill level (you’re literally one of the fastest X players in the game) that’s never going to happen because those players either don’t exist or don’t race at the same times as you.

If it’s full grids period then given the current state of the game they are going to have to expand the matchmaking pools so wide that you will end up with those low rated and “inferior” players you’re upset about. X is the least popular class in the game because it’s too fast for most people, and the meta car is behind a paywall.

There’s no winning solution here, and we both know this game is never going to get enough players to properly sort matchmaking out, not unless they got rid of all concurrent series and funnelled everyone into Forza GT.

I just want a full grid. That’s all. Skill disparity doesn’t matter. It’s better than having 8 different lobbies with 5 people in them.

I know there are enough players to fill the lobbies, but they aren’t being matched up together, despite being the same skill rating.

Nah it’s better to have 8 different lobbies with 5 players with same skill level than dealing with noobs that can’t race because someone rammed u and u have to fight back from end, u can’t even properly overtake them since they will dive u, and overall take weird lines.

Tho overall there’s problem with players braking way too late making them and other players lose time on corner exit.

Except the lobbies do not contain the same skill levels. They are all randomized.

I play Featured MP 99% of the time, mostly TC and GT which is a bit weird and against what Forza Motorsport stood for in my eyes for many years, but anyway. Some extremely fast players pop up in TC and GT and most of them race very clean, despite a pace advantage they will pressure you and make precise calculated moves.

I know overall the numbers are low, but it depends on the categories as well. Maybe a player count within each category/class could help guide players towards more competition. It may also highlight the low number of players involved…

And also there’s all the Private MP people, most of them are very competent, they rarely show up in Featured MP unless in groups, so there may be more regulars than we think.

I’ve already raced against you a few times in the TC lobby. Marlboro Peugeot 308. I’m from Germany, in the evenings around 6pm you find a full lobby but usually the TCR lobbies are usually only half full and then the level is very close. If it weren’t for the Meta Audis.

Absolutely, play with sportsmanship, all that holding up faster players behind will do is most probably end you up in the wall or getting penalised for contact. Maybe that last part should happen and they can drop down a class.

Had someone the other day who"s tyres were shot and they were all over the track and blocking, I still was on good rubber and went for the pass up the hill from Maple Valley start/finish on the last lap and they moved right over as I was overtaking knowing full well I was there and hit me, I got a 2.5 second penalty and they got nothing, lost the place to unsportsmanlike behaviour from the other but did note the players name for future reference.

If only there were blue flags and if ignore for 3 times a 4.5 second penalty applies

Some players seem to take it as a personal insult when they are overtaken.
It annoys me even more when an obviously slower car impedes you and the cars in front of you can increase the gap. I had that yesterday on the Nürburgring. I really wanted to stay with a group that all had high penalties. Unfortunately, I was stuck behind a player who was blocking the road and driving all over the place to avoid letting me pass. I lost so much time that the larger group was able to escape.
I don’t understand it. I’d rather let the faster car pass and try to be pulled along in the slipstream. Both parties benefit from that. You don’t have to be a Nobel Prize winner to work out scenarios like that. Unfortunately, many players don’t seem to understand this and would rather defend seventh place than finish third or fourth.

I noticed you in the race at Spa before, what a shocker, Operator1 got turned around by this fool then he decided to push me out into the tyre wall on purpose. Can’t get a good shot because of the replay camera but it’s not cool to drive like a fool!

Unfortunately this bloke in the Nissan had the same treatment a few corners earlier and was out of control and I bumped him in the process and got a 4.5 second penalty, just bad luck 'eh

That was by far the worst racing I have seen and the penalty system still needs some major work as I got turned around and ended up in the wall then shot back out onto the track and wasn’t ghosted and @Operator1 hit me, totally not his fault, mine and thanks green Monaro for the push. He didn’t get any penalty as he hit the brakes after spinning me. Chalk that up to racing I guess

P.s @Operator1, if you didn’t catch his gamertag msg me and I’ll send you the pics and sorry about the rejoin, did you see me hit the wall?

Yeah, I saved that replay too.
Lots of :wastebasket: in that lobby.

There was a big cloud of dust/smoke obscuring the view from behind you when you got spun, and I thought/hoped you’d be ghosted when we came up on you as you rejoined- but no such luck.

I wish my Lexus RC F TE was faster. It’s not bad, but it’s definitely not as fast as the more commonly-used leading cars I’ve seen in A-class lobbies.

It’s a shame that the replays don’t show the dust and smoke plus the body kits and also not being able to select the camera view so if there was a report made you could clearly see exactly what happened from the offending players pov.

It’s funny the only 2 races I’ve been in with you I’ve copped penalties for actions that I was not fully at fault for, the Maple Valley was the other race and usually I’ll only rack up one small penalty for exceeding the track where you should be able to like on Mugello.

Up to skill 4985 after 4 days of MP so I guess the other 25 is the hardest

And useless… GOT to 4999 S rating and holded fo 2,3 weeks now I’m back to 4997 cause I have more fun starting from back without qualify. Not sure if you can get to 5000, I think the cap Is 4999

5000 is pretty much impossible, I believe only one guy got it but his lobbies were probably empty the entire time.

It’s like you have to win 1st 20 times in a row without penalties.

It should be more varied cause the jump from starting out to S4900 is very quick if you don’t get penalties and place in the top 5 and win a few your at S4950 then it slows a little but if you win 5 races and place 2nd or 3rd in around 10 your at S4987, then it starts to really slow down and as everyone else has said you sit at S4999 and are basically a target for penalties as you only see movement backwards.

S4950 is where it should slow down otherwise if you get those unavoidable 4.5 second penalties when you were trapped into it happening even tho you did your best and almost stopped to avoid it.

Having a whole bunch of regulars all sitting on 4999 is just silly and there’s no doubt if a lot of players are on it that they will get put with less skilled players when the other lobbies are full

On another note do you lose skill ratings from Practice sessions if you get penalties or is it only the Race?
