Though some named features are included from far inland Australia, most of the map seems to mimic the Southeast coast of the continent from Victoria (marked in red on the map) to the Northern border of New South Wales and Queensland.
The map looks to be a merge together of the entirety of Australia, which will be cool. Yarra Valley and Great Ocean Road from Victoria, Deserts and out back from the western side (Northern Territory, Western Australia), at one point I saw what looked to be salt flats with abandoned planes or ships or something like that, which could possibly be South Australia. And then the city which is Gold Coast, up in Queensland.
Yes, I was wondering about that as well. I hope it’s not because the way the sky is made in this version, from a series of stitched together photos as opposed to a working version of the earth’s athosphere with all the atmospheric physics that rendered phenomenon such as the rainbow that was in FH2. I hope to see rain as opposed to just puddles of water. But then again, does it really rain that much in Australia?
As an Aussie I’m keen to know what locations are in the game. Are Melbourne and Sydney included? It would be weird if you could visit the GOR and Yarra Valley but can’t enter Melbourne which is only 60 mins real time drive from those locations.
Some of these locations are thousands of km part so this game seems to take a few liberties with geography.
Locations included so far.
REAL WORLD SPECIFIC LOCATIONS
Wine Region/Forest Hill Climb | Yarra Valley/Black Spur - CONFIRMED
Beach Seaside Region | Great Ocean Road/Twelve Apostles - CONFIRMED
Urban Region | Surfers Paradise - CONFIRMED
Outback Region | Ormiston Gorge - CONFIRMED
There is Rain, it was shown in a shot at E3. I hope that second sentence is sarcasm, It rains plenty in Australia, especially in the rain forests! We even just had some major floods sweep down the eats coast and also hitting Tasmania pretty hard. All due to an insane amount of rain in such a short period of time.
The map thus far has something from every state of Australia bar Tasmania and ACT. But the map itself will only be a small section of what Australia actually is. It is nowhere near a 1:1 scale of our country haha, We’re the largest island in the world remember
Good response mate - appreciate it ! And no, I was serious about the amount of rainfall in Australia, as all the moves I’ve seen about the place I’ve never seen it rain - oh well.
The game would be nothing without Sydney and the Opera House therein. We didn’t have all the locations revealed in E3 for FH2, so I think it’s highly doubtful that the demo portion of the game includes all final locations. Ralph Fulton at Gamescon has revealed more of what Surfers’ Paradise looks, but really, is that the only major city? If yes, we want more cities in the game as in FH2!
There is byron bay, but nothing else really apart from that. I think this game is focused a lot more on off roading, and that is why there are less cities as such.
If you want to race in cities, then your best bet is NFS. Personally I like to stay on the asphalt but I couldn’t skip a game that looks as amazing as forza horizon 3, especially since it is set in my own backyard.
My dream racing game would either be a 1:1 revsion of Victoria orr even just Melbourne. Hopefully the next Horizon will be set in Japan and there will be more of a drifting/ street racing focus
Yeah, I would too. It’s not like Playground game to reveal the entire map at the first showing of the game the likes of which will most likely be turned into the demo version sometime soon. But yeah, I hoping that at least Sydney is included with the iconic opera house to drive past at night and take some stunning photos. Don’t know if there are strictures with the Australian tourist board preventing these and other landmarks from bring present in the final version. All in all I hope there at least two other Australian cities in the game to include Sydney and Melbourne!
So I guess this game is set in an alternate reality where Aliens descended and picked up the Yarra Valley, Marrondah Dam, Twelve Apostles and Great Ocean Road and moved them to South East Queensland.
