So, I found out I have hit the 300 tune limit. Really happened a while back but, I went through each vehicle and deleted the saves where I had one for that vehicle and have now hit it again. Not sure if this existed in FM4 but, I was not tuning as much myself. I will try to express my frustration while remaining positive or optimistic. First, I love FM5. Not sure if more than FM4 but, I do love it. With that in mind I have done a lot of tuning. My profile shows 80 something plus hours of tuning. Does not mean I am good just means I have been tinkering. That’s not mentioning the additional time track testing the addition, subtraction or swapping of a part or my final build. I don’t post many tunes but I have with a few earlier ones on FM5. Chances are I have a better saved tunes as I have learned a lot more. Having hit the 300 tune save limit I must now delete tunes in order to make new saves. This presents a few difficulties.
Problem: What cars have tunes saved?
I own almost every car in the game. This was not present in FM4 and would be a dream feature. Maybe FM6. It would be nice to have a section in FM5 that tracks tunes. One which shows shows me the vehicles I have saved tunes for, how many for that vehicle, an option to manage them (delete, rename, share, unshare, etc.), and load car plus a specific tune to become the default car I am in. A tab added to the car info page in the garage with this information for each vehicle would be good. A tunes section under cars would be better detailing the above. For now I’ll be going through each car again to see what has tunes saved.
Problem: Which tunes to keep?
With FM5 now having about 300 vehicles that’s one tune per car. I don’t have one for each car.
If I do short track loose, long track loose, and short track tight grip, and long track tight grip that’s 4 per car so 75 cars.
If I got track specific at 50 tracks that’s only 6 cars. (each track and its variants currently available in the rivals listing. not including drag or drift setups)
I pick cars I have owned, like, or fancy in real life. I also have driven others I knew nothing about. If its one I choose to drive I may end up with 10 plus tunes per car I like.
The ability to go beyond 300 saves… Limit cloud storage saves to that number but, add an option for local saves to go beyond that. Remove the 300 save limit altogether or bump it up to a thousand or so. I really don’t want to choose which tunes to delete. I will have to in order to have options on the vehicles I drive.
The same could be applied to paint section for those who love to paint. A robust tune manager is a great feature. One that adds value and creates a win win for Turn 10 and FM enthusiasts. Would be great in FM5 but, please look at this for FM6. As for the tune limit… I guess I understand for cloud storage for a few hundred thousand people. The thing is each person has local storage on their brand new XBox One. It’s in the 500 GB range. Plenty of room to go past 300 saves.
