Make the Racing Line and Braking Line forced off

I would like to suggest rhat the racing line and breaking line not be allowed to be used during rhe race. I suggest this because if you’re online you should know that track that way you can pay attention to your surroundings instead of being focused on the racing line. Im tired of getting hit and pushed out of the way because someone is just paying attention to the line instead of their surroundings.

I know various people that use braking line and they don’t seem to have any problems. If a player is focusing too much on the line and is crashing into other players, that should be sorted out by the driver safety and skill rating.

How do u know they are focused on the racing line? You know each car setup can change the way the line is laid out on the track so what u see as the racing line won’t be the same line every player has.

There is an option to force that off, but it would have to be in a private multiplayer and you would have to be host.

I think if there was damage they’d think twice about making that risky overtake … we’re missing some buffers or whatever you wana call it…
-fear
-damaging your car or others
-hurting your self or other driver w a risky move
-paying to fix your car and damages, driver fines for intentional rear ending someone. So race penalty and fines like real life?
-chance of them rear ending you bc unfamiliar w tracks and braking zones. In turn will lower there scores/ rank and separate the seasoned drivers from the inexperienced as long as you don’t get penalized for them rear ending you. I’ll try it if it works.

Watching some live racing videos and commentary- how did you know you could pull the move off, I didn’t, I knew he has kids and a family and he’d lift before I would .

I voted.

In Dirt Rally 2.0 there was a setting called “hardcore damage”, I think we need something like that in FM. The current damage model is quite random, they need to overhaul that anyway.

I disagree with this suggestion, comes across as a bit gatekeepy.

The game does need better ways to teach people how to drive without assists though, it just sort of expects you to figure it all out on your own.

You must understand 90% of player are using it.

Gran Turismo uses cone markers instead of a brake line so you know where to brake. 1 cone think about it, 2 you best be on the brakes. They copied everything else… :man_shrugging: It also flashes the gear when it’s time to brake.

If players are bad with the line overlay for guidance, it seems likely that they’d be much worse without it.

Project CARS 3 also had a system like this; you had a marker on corner entry/apex/exit, and the game ranked you through each turn based on how close you got to them.

That was one of the things I thought PC3 did really well.
