Getting sick of seeing these drivatars try to dive bomb corners. They should follow the best line and try to draft around me just as I do them. This allowing them to use nefarious tactics nonsense needs to stop. You’re teaching your player base that this kind of behavior is ok. It’s not. This is 100% not cool IRL, so it shouldn’t be here either.
Unfortunately, drivatars base their behavior and driving lines on the driving of real people. Forza already has a notorious culture for ramming, divebombs, and general incompetence, so it learns dominantly on that. If your theory that new players will be persuaded to drive dirty is correct, then ramming begets ramming in a terrible loop, which is a bad problem.
That’s my guess, at least.
I made a equivalent although indirect assumption as well in another thread. If that truly is the AI learning model then it is the wrong one. Sadly in races and Championships it is not uncommon for drivers behaving badly to win. What might be a better learning model or at least a part of it, is to base the driving lines on Rivals. Especially clean laps not using let’s say the top 2% (removing cheaters from the model) and also leaving the bottom 10% out. Numbers arbitrary of course.
Rivals is also the place to find some interesting and surprising looks on the best lines to drive. Now in itself it is not the solution as Rivals means no traffic and no direct opponents so AI on collisions must come from elsewhere.
Btw I do have some serious doubts on the quality of the AI ‘engine’ but that’s another topic. I often feel like it’s just programming done by humans not AI.
Indeed, normal driving lines become compromised once you throw another car in overtaking distance in the process. I’m sure that it’s difficult to teach the AI the nuances of overtaking and defensive driving, as there could be so many scenarios involving various numbers of cars in different turns. Even then, there are various strategies for each of them.

That’s one example of what I meant by it feels programmed, by that I mean the Drivatars perform some logic like if x-distance from corner turn on brake lights and go through corner not minding speed.
Another is that sometimes the place where they will overtake seems predetermined. A large gap is suddenly closed and there’s your Drivatar attempting to pass. And so forth…
Nurse and Gab… your observations are dead on…the computer program is PULLING the drivatars around the track…braking does not apply…traction does not apply…hence the unrealistic overtakes and corner speed…try to laugh and enjoy the game… no fix but to turn down difficulty.
First of all thanks for recognizing the post as what it was meant to be: an observation. Indeed in most cases I just laugh it off, do a restart or rewind and continue. I rarely play the game above difficulty Expert as that, to me, sort of is the level above which things get too unrealistic.
What came to mind after reading your post mentioning “the computer program is PULLING the drivatars” was the comparison between driving on a road (whether or not paved in some form) versus a monorail or alike.
