Trial AI does not play by the same rule set

I pushed a red car visibly out beyond the check point flag. I mean, I just clipped the left fender of my car with the flag. The AI car was clearly out on the right side beyond the track boundaries. It literally shoved past me and jetted forward (like a nfs car on nitrous) and was gone. I swear the developers have given the unbeatable AI some kind of “boost” that kicks in on the final lap or final third of a race. And they definitely don’t follow the same rules as the human racers.

Best to hit them into walls. That works. Make a V shape.

Yes the ai cheats. It probably always be like this.

Easy examples - when the ai crashes they then seem to go super speed to get back to where they should have been. Or doing the seasonal road championship last night on the race that had the high speed freeway finish. I’m miles ahead going flat out in a fast car then all of a sudden the whole pack is closing up on me at 250mph, it finished closer than it should’ve just because.

The game AI has been appalling since day one and hasn’t got any better in the six months’ since.

Every time a new Horizon game comes out it’s the drivatars which make it feel the most dated to me. FH5 has so much going for it but the core of a racing game is the actual racing and these AI opponents are absolutely terrible.

With every new game released they continue to get worse. At the very least they should be bound to the same basic rules and physics which the players are. Playing against someone who cheats simply is not fun.

yea I get so frustrated at times. Its wasnt this bad in FH4. It doesnt matter what drive train I have everything will beat me off (giggidy) the line and accelerate faster too. The bots really need a fix. I dont even bother with unbeatable which is what I use to race in 4. I feel ya and hope this gets addressed.

The AI does drive consistency bad, specifically:

  • If you bump AI on the side then they will ram you back hard
  • If you bump them from behind then they slam on the breaks hard

The AI also handle corners terrible IMO. They either take it way too slow or way too fast. This can lead to you accidently hitting them, or them “intentionally” hitting you while going around a corner.

Same here, Nengrana. FH4 I could handle unbeatable. FH5, down to highly skilled.

I just love getting brake-checked by a drivatar right before we both drive off of a jump during a race. It’s a straight shot, no reason at all to hit the brakes unless trying to mess with me.

When you finish a race and get this solid conga line of bumper to bumper drivatars acting like they all have a hive mind you know something’s off.

My Ai usually end the race interlocked like a centipede.

Lag back at the start of a trial race and watch the AI. It’s like watching jammers in an old roller derby match. They attack the human drivers literally. They jam back and forth and they brake check drivers. Gimmeabreakdude! No one gets on the brakes starting a race. And they’ll slam into the first few corners just like they are trying to take cars out.

The ai in races is just heavy enough to hit and keep your momentum whilst breaking their traction. At least it’s not like racing Team Ravenwest in Grid 1 :grimacing: hitting one of their Koenigsegg’s was like colliding with a small planet.
