Majority of V8 sounds are terrible in the game

The sound of the cars sucks. V8 cars are no fun to drive. Mustang, Camaro junk sound.

Very happy to see that they’re fixing the LFA sound with the next update but nothing to indicate if some of the other sounds will be fixed, including the V8s, both classic and modern.

The 355 and 360cs sound exactly the same, they shouldn’t.

I just hope to see unique sounds for every single car in the game. It’s 2024, Microsoft has the best gaming hardware in the business, and this is the 8th game.

We just have to have the best sounds. Absolutely :100: necessary! :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you for your feedback. For tracking purposes we need voting topics to be limited to one idea each rather than lists or grouped issues. In this case, please use separate topics for individual models. Search the FM Car Issues category for existing topics to upvote in order to avoid duplicate topics. If a topic needs to be created, use the title format “Cars - (Make Model Year) (issue)”

Car soundtracks can be much more realistic

+1 for more immersion and fun-factor in the sounds, even if not entirely realistic.

Take some cues from Codie’s games like DR2.0, Grid Legends, and add a little extra excitement like more (and especially more varied) pops/crackles, turbo and supercharger sounds, diff whines, grit hitting the inside of the wheel arches etc.

And in terms of peripheral sounds, please increase the volume and sound effects from other cars, FM7 is a little quiet that way, cars pass you and can only just be heard over your own engine, and you can’t hear them at all once they’re 20m away.

This I also agree
Car sounds makes the game much more immersive

Sound is so important Not only driving but also while starting race, changing gear, pitting and we should clearly hear other cars voices. I hope this time devs will use high tech equipments for catching the real noise.

I played a bunch of Motorsport 4 - 7 and I really must say that there was some sort of audio drop-off in quality in the transition from Motorsport 6 into Motorsport 7. There was much better engine sounds, menu sounds, even menu music was better.
In Motorsport 7 I can notice a bit of audio laziness when it comes to the gear-box using an upgraded transmission. In gear 3 and 4 you can audibly tell, in any car, the “whining” noise is practically the same, just overplayed on top of different RPM numbers for different cars. Seriously is a let down that the sound quality was much better in Motorsport 6. It would be appreciated if the audio team outperformed 6 for the upcoming game but I won’t have my hopes up very high!

I completely agree. I really enjoyed how earlier versions you could tell when there was a change in the exhaust sounds when you’d upgrade the exhaust. In later versions, it just was all the same. And yeah, some of the engine sounds felt pretty generic, something I left the GT franchise because of. I REALLY hope there are a lot of great audio detail and changes with exhausts in this one.

Please check all the Ferraris and Porsche’s for accurate notes.

Also, cars are unusually quiet in interior cam and volume, impact, bass, “punch”, is not consistent between cars.

Please don’t expect me to create different threads as all these issues have to do with rebalancing the car audio dynamic range per car and giving each car it’s accurate notes.

They basically need to sound louder and oomphier, with their own accurate notes. Volume, tone, and character should also be more pronounced and unique cycling between the different views. At the moment, nearly all cars sound small and squished and as if they were recorded going through a tunnel or a tincan or something.

Thank you - this is important feedback for the devs, please don’t lock the thread!

I was hoping they’d take the best elements from FH 5, FM 7 and FM 5, and then improve on the different aspects of car audio in the latest offering.

It feels like a major step back. They really need to sit down and rebalance the audio for each car. They should also have distinct samples and not copied/pasted samples from previous games.

They absolutely need to overhaul the audio. This is not acceptable for a $100 product. Dirt rally 2 and 2019 GRID are some of the finest examples of car audio done right.

The dynamic range is nearly perfect.

The car sounds are very inconsistent. They mostly appear to be just coming out in stereo.

Were they not recorded in 5.1/7.1?

Will there be a 5.1/7.1 options added later?

Cars generally sound very flat and monotone with virtually no feeling of depth, character, impactfulness, etc.

They also sound fake for the most part.

FM 7 all over again…

If it’s fast, if it’s loud, it doesn’t sound right. How you got the Essensa SCV12 to sound right in FH5 but not in FM ‘23 is beyond me.

Everything that was promoted sounded right. You guys really pulled the wool over our eyes. “Best sounding Forza ever”. That guy needs to be fired.

FM8:
I like the gameplay and the graphics but the car sound is such a big disappointment.
All the engine sounds I have heard so far are too weak and mostly not realistic. Icons like the BMW M1 Procar or Ferrari Scuderia 641 from 1990 sound like something out of a computer game from the days of Windows ME. The Nissan 400Z lacks the liveliness of its V6. The BMW M3 GTS lacks its characteristic screaming V8. The Prosche GT3 RS, which is normally a joy to listen to, is my personal biggest disappointment. When you install the sports exhaust, the entire sound is lost.
I guess this first experience will be the same for the whole fleet. Please find a solution for this!

Well, forza always had bad engine sounds
Can’t tell difference between flat 4 and modern v8.
We don’t even have audio settings for anything.

Motorsport needs some help from the playground games audio techs. FH5 audio was just incredible.
