Why can’t individual topics such as treasure hunt and trials tunes and others be left open and separate from the playlist thread? Continually locking good threads and merging them into one big megathread just makes it hard and frustrating to find specific topical information.
You’re right. The search feature on the forum was always rubbish, and the redesign hasn’t changed that, so finding something topical and relevant would be easier if it wasn’t buried.
Threads really shouldn’t be touched full stop. If a thread is popular it will be at the top. If it’s not popular it will creep down the list. I understand they are trying to be helpful but they really should just leave things up to the community and only intervene when absolutely necessary.
I understand their wanting to eliminate clutter, but I am left shaking my head at some of the merges. In particular, the weekly Festival Playlist update threads grow quite large and it becomes a pain to search through the entire thread when looking for hints and tips that were merged from their own individual threads.
On the other hand, I totally appreciate it when nearly identical threads are merged.
Hopefully Max will reconsider which threads are being merged.
I bet they lock this thread.
I dunno, I rather like the way this forum is pruned and aggregated…
Compared to reddit; and its endless wall of the same posts over and over, same tired trolls over and over, useless moderation team, and every person who ran into something in game whose first instinct is to run to some forum and ask about it before doing any actual research on things.
Start of a good conversation. Hope it continues and they take notice to what the community has to say.
Would you be happy with 1 out of those 2?
I’ll see how next week’s topics go and leave individual threads up about Trial or other events in the Festival Playlist. But the moment someone takes the conversation off the original topic - which history shows is inevitable - it turns into a megathread and I’m going to merge it back into the Festival Playlist thread.
Having three users create three different threads and then comment on the other threads with reference to their own topics is just duplication. That doesn’t serve the community by creating extra threads users have to sift through any more than a single thread with more posts does, and it certainly doesn’t help me or the team accurately or efficiently track player interests.
As it is, this topic should have been put in the Suggestions / Other / Forums section where there is already a topic on this very issue.
I don’t mind duplicate topics. In fact I encourage them when it comes to bugs and issues. Don’t want to see duplicate topics? Then fix said bug/issue. Why must we discuss some topics for months on end?
Merging subjective topics and keeping threads on topic is great. Merging multiple “treasure hunt” threads is great. Keeping them on topic has never been easy. I for one will gladly give gentle nudges to those who stray to help keep playlist topics going smoothly.
As far as the “bugs” topical comment. Those really don’t help here. And multiple “bugs” threads just add more clutter. Those definitely need merging. But more importantly they need to go to discord or
support ticket. ![]()
I like that there is productive discussion to find a better compromise for everyone and wish this could apply to some other topics. I think trimming the fat is good, but sometimes it helps to have an individual thread to discuss a particular issue in its own right. Can see both sides of it.
I agree, discussions like this are good. No one is right or wrong.
