The exterior lightning of cars in the “all-new” FM is really worse compared to previous FORZA titles. You are right, Digital Foundry noted that this is something where Gran Turismo simply excels with accuracy, brightness, depth and glow.
Yeah that always annoys me with Forza car models. A lot of the light textures look like plain swatches without bump maps or the refraction effect that GT Sport/7 car models have
If they did this, this will be the worst decision that the developers ever made. Like they don’t care about the car models as they still find it “super accurate” in their end.
I hope so. T10 and Pixel Mafia should work together on remodeling all FM1 and X360 era car models that are reused in the new FM. They should focus on fixing cars’ models rather than rushing by adding new cars.
I think we’re expecting things not to get out of hand…
Not the worst but certainly shows that they don’t care for the attention to details side of things.
As anyone that has played Gran Turismo’s and Forza Motorsport titles knows that GT holds the #1 spot when it comes to car modelling.
There are big differences in both games and I feel that Forza Motorsport has focused more on the accessibility side with the rewind functionality of which is great whereas GT is more for the realism and you must earn it no matter what.
This lastest installment of the Motorsport franchise has pushed the boundaries on the physics with these so called contact points giving us a fun new toy to play with but that’s where it ends, the tyre wear is completely based on laps or some weird system that makes little sense, the penalty system is broken still at 6 months in plus too many other small details here and there. Let’s just chalk up FM8 as what we will see in the next Forza installment, probably the next Horizon cause it’s got the positive reviews
Questions that should be asked
Why did we get such a bland upgrade system when the competition has such a detailed one
Why did FM8 ship with such a pathetic single player experience
Why are most of the reviews for this installment of Forza Motorsport so bad
And lastly Why do fans of Forza Motorsport say that they are going to buy a PS5 to play GT7
These are questions that Microsoft should be asking Turn10 to please explain.
I may hope for the next Horizon, but one problem I might face is that they might end up removing another good chunk of its car list at launch and drip-feed/add them back later as “new”. (Not all of them will ever come back btw)
I don’t want to pay a lot of money for a game that looks unfinished, buggy, and overall - horrible. Of course FM8 has decent physics but it’s just the gameplay elements and visual quality that are bad, especially how terrible the graphics look like. I might give FM8 until this October to see if they can improve, but if they keep screwing up even further, I will never support it anymore as I will be done with the complaints. It’s very unfortunate for me to hear that they might improve, but what if they can’t? That’s what I’ve been doubting for a long time already that they won’t fix the game after all…
If we, the consumers, are willing to help T10 out, should we send them locations/site links of where to find the most accurate models possible?
Most definitely will launch with less of everything and cost you more, just like FM8, from the ground up, Shrinkflation is happening everywhere and those with gamepass think they are getting everything for free!
Devolution at its finest
Game pass is just playing for free with a paid subscription, and it’s for a limited time only. People would choose FM8 Game pass over buying the entire game so they could “save their fortune” by paying less.
If you pay for Gamepass, it ain’t free.
Yeah, clearly it’s not free.
I would add the S13 silvia to the list as its model has been in circulation since FM2.
while the base model is fairly decent its lacking in details with very very outdated headlight models, stock wing is incorrect shape (ends are round, not squarish) but by far the biggest inaccuracies are the dam bodykit options (RB widebody excluded)
all of the origin bodykit option look nothing like any of the real origin parts, even look at the comparison that origin posted way back when announcing they were in FM2 showing the Aggressive Line kit Origin in Forza Motorsport 2 for XBOX 360 – ORIGIN (origin-lab.com)
this is supposed to be the Stylish Line kit
this is the actual Stylish Line kit
Aggressive line in forza (also note the inaccurate GTR style grill on this bodykit compared to the real one above)
Aggressive Line in real life
If i were running a company i would be ashamed to have my brand name on those models
I know it’s atrocious, but I haven’t got around to ask anyone for a comparison video/GIF, nor have tried to make one myself considering how difficult it is on console. Things may change in the near future though
Has Turn 10 issued any response to the old car modeling?
i might make one up at some point if i can be bothered, since i own 2 s13’s, one getting fitted with a stylish line kit too
Honestly, since Turn 10 is so reluctant to do anything about the inaccurate cars, body kits and wheel fitment, the only acceptable thing they could do is open the PC version up to modding, and allow the users to fix the problem for ourselves.
For the Silvia S15, they should search and scan the 2002 Spec-R Aero, that seems to be the most accurate one.
And for the '93 Skyline, the V-Spec II from 1994.
One of the threads that relates to inaccurate car models like Evo IX MR, ended up being shoved to the “Will Not Fix” list.
This is problematic, even the moderator who closed it says that “The devs noted that this is a risky fix”, and other minor car model errors were addressed as “Too minor for prioritization”.
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR 2006 has multiple errors with its model. Real pictures of north american Evo IX MR are provided for reference. Front headlights are not fitted to bumper properly, jetting out forward and making the car look bug-eyed. FH5 model - [01 front] [02 front] [03 front] [04 front] NA Evolution IX MR - [front irl 01] [front irl 02] Rear end has incorrect exhaust exit opening and exhaust pipe itself is off-center FH5 model - [05 exhaust] NA Evolution IX MR - …
Yep, this is seriously getting out of hand. Why can’t they even learn???
I agree on this, some players will learn 3D modeling, and will remodel deformed cars better than the devs and the outsourcing companies…
Therefore, all the files of these weird, goofy-shaped cars will be replaced with fresh remodeled ones.
Such cowards! They should be fired!
That’s a Horizon 5 report. I hope Turn10 has taken a different approach.
