Lifetime Forza player, finally plays Gran Turismo

I think the dual sense is much better than the ds4. As a primarily xbox player its been a lot easier to switch to the dual sense due to the similiar shape. While i think its the best ps controller i still prefer the xbox controller. I find the sticks and triggers to be superior but i would definitely like the handles to be a little longer like the dual sense.

I’m glad you aren’t calling me a liar, why would I lie? Do you think I don’t have both controllers? I know they are very similarly sized, but one is slightly smaller than the other, where it matters most. This ā€˜rounding’ of the triggers is the worst design choice they made, in my view. They didn’t truly understand the effect it would have.

By accommodating hands similar to those of an average 8-year-old, we found we could improve accessibility and comfort for hundreds of millions more people without negatively affecting the experience for those with larger hands. We did that by rounding the bumpers, slightly reducing and rounding parts around the triggers, and carefully sculpting the grips.

Here you go, there are loads of reports like this:

(The last one is someone who loves the new controller, because they have ā€˜small baby hands’ in their own words)

Might explain why Forza Horizon is made for children now. :stuck_out_tongue:

I know i saw the complaints just never really understood them tbh. I barely felt a difference and considering its only 9/100 of an inch shorter i couldn’t see how people would be getting cramps. I certainly don’t have baby hands and would definitely like the controller to have a longer grip area like the dual sense but it is what it is. It really comes down to how people hold their controllers i guess or possibly if someone’s just so used to a particular shape. I jump around to different controllers a lot so maybe i avoid any type of particular muscle memory.

I’ve jumped between Xbox 360, Xbox One and PS4 controllers a lot for years and never had any problems either, until I used the Series version. I’m not impressed with how Microsoft make a major change to the triggers and claim it somehow is simultaneously better for people with very small hands while also being better for people with big hands and long fingers. It obviously makes no sense, which is why shoes, glasses, clothes etc. come in multiple sizes. If you are shoe size 12 and try to wear size 11, the latter might fit but they will hurt, especially if you try to do something demanding like sports or walking a long distance; even though the difference might seem insignificant to you, it isn’t.

I get what you are saying but at the same time the controller has barely changed. If this controller was designed to fit an 8 year olds hands what was the former controller designed for a 9 year old. Im still highly sceptical that the changes made to the controller are that drastic that it causes cramping. I would believe it to be more coincidence than anything and im sure some people are just jumping on the hate anything xbox does bandwagon. I guess if it does cause you discomfort at least you can still use the older controller.

Well you don’t think that’s me I hope because Xbox has been my main platform for over 20 years.

Why not just accept other people can have different experiences rather than getting angry about it. It would be more polite, rather than wrongly assuming bad faith.

at least you can still use the older controller.

It would be better if they still made the old one. Now my choice is keep using my existing Xbox One controllers until they wear out, or buy used ones.

I’m not handy with a soldering iron unfortunately. I did look into how easy it would be to replace the triggers (my main point of contention) and as far as I can tell, the answer is ā€˜very hard indeed’ for most people. It isn’t just a case of unscrewing the Series triggers and putting in some Xbox One type triggers.

Can it be done, I’m sure it can with the right tools and expertise, but not by me.

I was speaking more about the reddit threads with the bandwagon comment. Many people seemed to be upset there either wasn’t much changes to the controller or like you the changes they did make as well as the xbox dashboard compared with the ps5. There is no perfect controller but i guess im lucky that over the years the only controller that hurt my hands was the original nintendo controller due to the pointy edges of the dpad.

Gt7 latest patch had their Sophy AI for limited availability.

Reports are it’s quite impressive.

WIth all the resources MS are pouring into bingAI you’d think a first party studio could have access.

take note t10 & pgg

They are working (or i should say, have been working on) better thats faster without cheating. Now whether that coverts well to good racing remains to be seen.

I’m very curious to learn how Sophy can beat some of GT’s best drivers without cheating, supposedly?

It’s been reported they learn to use better lines and take corners more accurately instead being boosted by artificial means (better grip, more down force, higher horsepower, etc.) like the Forza AI, is?

I know normal GT7 AI is pretty weak even on the highest difficulty, but I believe this is an indication it’s racing on a level playing field, ironically? Whenever you have humans compete against AI on equal terms (no matter the game), humans are always going to win because of our unpredictable ability to adapt on the fly.

This is why most games have to boost various stats and attributes (health, accuracy, speed, etc.) in order for the AI to be ā€œcompetitiveā€, but it’s never a truly fair competition due to the AI being boosted in ways the player isn’t.

Both will use neural networks.

I’ve done the races against Sophy, but not the 1v1. I’ve seen the 1v1 races and it’s scary. Watching a really good driver become unnerved because for 1 whole lap of Fuji, Sophy was about 10 inches off his rear bumper waiting for the player to make a mistake. That’s what makes the difference between a human skilled driver and that AI, you can’t force pressure on AI.
