There are a lot great ideas posted here to resolve the issue at hand and I only have one question. “Where is the gamer rating that Microsoft was supposedly going to implement with Xbox One?”
I noticed that if you stick with a lobby for a few races it tends to clean up. Seems like people are voting trolls out more consistently.
Maybe a way of getting it to operate is instead of a licensing system is you start in a race series based on your xp you would only be able to race in one series till you accrued a certain amount of xp say 50 next series would operate until say a 100. You would learn your craft racing in these two race series among racers with the same skillset getting wins and credits you just would not get racing in the higher echelons Turn 10 could offer incentives to ensure people will try to attain the xp to join the mainstream racing possibly the same as in Horizon where cars and cash prizes are awarded as you level up. True there is the drawback that you would initially be racing with the idiot brigade but if the block feature works like its supposed to they would be quickly weeded out and left to run in noob only lobbies and you would enter the pro’s more than able to hold your own. Just an idea but I’d be interested to hear everybody’s take on it go on give us a shout out.
I’m all for a Driver license system for online play.
-Not worried by sandbaggers. Don’t really see that as a problem.
-It is only necessary so that you can stay away from 1. Trollers, 2. Cheaters who cut the track, 3. amateurs who need more practice learning how to race clean and control their cars.
-Not worried about getting my butt kicked by drivers faster than me, just want to race clean drivers.
The System as I see would go something like this.
- Starting level- Learner’s permit.
- Everyboby who wants to play multiplayer has to start here, with everyone of every skill level.
- To get past this stage you simply have to earn enough points to reach the next level.
- Every race should be worth so many points
—You get the most points by driving clean, staying on track, and finishing as high as possible.
— It may take many races to earn enough points to move to the next level, but if you can run a clean race, and pass a lot of players I don’t see why you should not be able to earn the next level in as few as four races.
—Simply earn points toward the next level license, but each infraction would take points away from the points earned.
++++let say you make contact with a car. No big deal, rubbing is racing, as long as you did not send the other car into a major wreck or completely off the track. Simple incidental contact will give both drivers a half point reduction. That’s right both drivers, I believe it would be too difficult for the software programmer to try to assign blame, so point reduction for all involved.
++++ Go off track and instead of unrealistic sticky grass, you get a full point reduction. The more times you go off track in the same race than the point reduction multiples with each incident, and even more if you go off at the same place on the track each lap.
++++Incident with another car and there is a major wreck by you, or the other car within a certain time period and you lose 4 points.
**** every diving license level higher should take more points to get and fewer points to lose.
**** that is right with the exception of the lowest driver license you can lose your license with a bout of bad driving. you can not go back to learner’s permit but the level after that is definitely within reach.
2 driver’s license
- D Class racer
- C Class racer
- B Class
- A Class
- S Class
- Professional
In no way do I believe that letter of the license should be the highest car you are allowed to drive. As far as I’m concerned if you have a LMP, or X level by all means you get to drive it with other people at your same diver license level. However they are usually harder to control and your license level is at risk if you earn enough infractions. In other words it is best to get enough practice laps with it before using others in multiplayer as guinea pigs.
I don’t care if the guys in professional level are the fastest or the slowest just as long as they know how to race with others clean.
Sounds good. If this were combined with a Black Flag/DNF system for corner cutting and wrecking it would clean things up nicely.
Im going to try to address as many concerns about this idea as I can.

Motivation:
For those of you who think that only racing with players at your same skill level won’t motivate you to improve or help you improve consider this; if you are only able to achieve, lets say a bronze license, don’t you think THAT would be your motivation to improve your skills so that you could achieve a silver or gold license? As far as actually improving your skills goes, that brings me to my next point. -
Tutorial/Driver Training:
I really think Turn 10 needs to implement a tutorial system. There’s really only so much we can explain to each other over chat. If there was some kind of of driving school that could teach players racing lines, how/when to brake, accelerating out of corners, ect. it would help in so many ways. Think about how many people have bought forza for the first time, entered an online lobby, realized how bad they were then never picked up the game again because no one/nothing taught them how to play. If they had a way to learn how to play the game I bet they would be more inclined to figuring it out instead of just giving up.
3: Open Lobbies and Licensed Lobbies:
Some of you have mentioned having open lobbies, like we have now, as well as lobbies that require licenses and I think its a great idea. However, I’m willing to bet that no one will use the open lobbies anymore if this whole system is executed correctly because every time I get into one of those rare lobbies where everyone is running similar lap times and nearly every race is wheel to wheel because no ones getting knocked off at the first turn, everyone talks about how awesome it is to be in a lobby like that and how they wish all the lobbies were like that.
4: People Want to Have Fun:
You have to remember that there is a large percentage of people who would like to be able to enjoy playing this game online and probably would like to get better but just can’t. For whatever reason they just can’t get the hang of driving manual (which we all know makes a huge difference in lap times) or maybe they can’t even figure out the racing line. These are the people that we always see at the back of the pack and sometimes even end up lapping but I find it a little unfair that their only choice is to race with the rest of us. If they had their own lower tiered lobby where they had a shot at winning a race as well as having a tutorial system to teach them how to drive, forza would be much more enjoyable for them.
What some of you have to keep in mind is that some of your concerns, although admirable and legitimate, represents an extremely small fraction of the online community. Like .5%. You have to remember that although it may not be ideal for you personally, 99.5% of the population would greatly benefit from it.
