Hi mate running CSL DD.
Playing on CSL DD 8nm and WRC steering
Here’s where I landed after two days, but haven’t tried anyone else’s recommandations so far. It feels great so now I focus on the driving
Started with my ACC settings for the wheel and ended up leaving them as-is. The intertia, damper and friction are to cancel the oscillation problem I was having in ACC, I imagine heavier steering wheels won’t need as much. The additional damper in-game (Wheel Damping Scale) was necessary to avoid oscillation with my setup but I definitely recommend setting this as low as possible as it drowns out all FFB effects.
These settings are working quite well on the CSL DD 180w with CS RS wheel. Oversteer is correctable and catching a slide is quite easy now. Adjust the FFB Scale to your liking or use per-car settings to scale the force up/down.
Well, I certainly feel a lot better now. The diversity of wheel settings proves just how personal this is.
I think a description of what feel you’re going for would help.
I’m on CSL DD Pro with McLaren wheel, XSX.
My general philosophy of wheel settings is to remove to the greatest extent possible any input from the wheel itself, as none of this is transmitted by the game and what it is trying to portray. My view is these settings are there to fill gaps where the game doesn’t (e.g. low frequency or simple physics models), but given the modern state of these games I find most settings irrelevant.
I also have no real world car racing experience so don’t know what things really feel like or “should” feel like, I just try to set things that fit what I’m looking for.
Generally, I don’t like heavy damping. I prefer a lighter feeling wheel with lots of detail. I just wanna feel the tyres. So I hate setups that have heaps of resistance and detail is muddied.
Unfortunately, that’s exactly what FM’s stock settings seem to be. It’s like the devs paid too much attention to dudebros saying Strong = Good and therefore more strong = more better, like a pair of heaphones with overly booming bass because that’s apparently cool. Tonnes and tonnes of heavy damping and really muddy detail.
So without further ado:
Wheel
SEN: AUTO
FFB: 100%
ForceFS: PEAK
NDP: 0 this game doesn’t need MORE damping
NFR: 0%Or friction…
NIN: 0 Or inertia…
INT: 0 unnecessary, physics model runs at 360hz so no need to interpolate anything
FEI, FOR, SPR: 100 transmit everything from the game 100% please.
Others are preference specific
Game
ForceFS 100
SSA 100
MTS 80 Gimme fidelity
PTS 120 Gimme tyre deformation
RFS 90 At first I had bumped this up to max/near max like I’d seen lots of people do in an attempt to get feedback. But with Dampening down it is now over the top so turned it down and might still further as it impacts other feedback a little too much.
LS 50 Haven’t played with this one yet. But I think it will be next to adjust a bit and see what I like
WDS 35 Get that Dampening DOWN
CSS 130 But give me some resistance, particularly at higher speeds
DDB 100 max preserve detail!
SS 50
SL 20
These last 2 annoy me so much. The small explanatory note doesn’t give me what I think it should. I have played with all sorts of settings and this is the closest I’ve gotten to a 1:1 with my wheel, at least to 180 (though the game still slightly beats me there).
I honestly want no sensitivity and perfect linearity. Just make it turn exacly like my wheel!!!
Much happier with these settings than when I first started. But I think I’m gonna be tweaking for a week till I get these exactly how I like.
This is Xbox but a starting point, still need to tweak it more:

I have a Fanatec CSL DD 8NM and I must say that the experience on console is horrible. Testing exactly the same settings on PC and Console. On console the feeling of pressing the brake is horrible, as soon as you press it, the bar goes up, while on PC it works correctly. As for the turning angles on PC, they match the cockpit view, on Xbox it does not match. On Xbox it seems that the steering wheel has input lag. The strength on PC is correct, while on console to get the same PC strength you have to raise almost everything. I don’t know what they did here, but the experience with Fanatec CSL DD on console is terrible. I remember this also happened with ACC a while ago. I’ve been waiting for this game to play on a console with a steering wheel for a long time. I’m disappointed that there isn’t equality on PC and Console. And not to mention that on the console you cannot assign buttons to the steering wheel since it repeats them.
I’m not having that experience at all with brake or turning angle. I’m using a ddgt on Xbox. Are you using the McLaren wheel? I’ve had issues with several games with it. Tried a different wheel and all the parts went away. Haven’t used it since.
Are you guys able to map buttons properly? When i map them it takes, but doesn’t work in game.
Fanatec ClubSport 2.5 (belt drive) on PC
I’ve been out of sim racing for a few years and didn’t realize how different the settings were between DD and belt drive… if you have a belt drive like me, do not try to use the DD settings posted here (I’m sure this is obvious to most, but hopefully helps someone). Here’s where I’ve landed after ~5 hours of tweaking
Device settings: Auto, 100% everything
Vibration Scale: 80%
Force Feedback Scale: 100%
Steering Self Alignment: 100%
Mechanical Trail Scale: 90%
Pneumatic Trail Scale: 110%
Road Feel Scale: 86%
Load Sensitivity: 68%
Wheel Damping Scale: 14%
Center Spring Scale: 9%
Dynamic Damper Behavior: 85%
Steering Sensitivity: 50%
Steering Linearity: 50%
Vehicle-specific FF: 95-100%
I used several AI systems to analyze my settings… interestingly, Claude AI matched my preferences the most. Here was the final feedback from Claude:
Here is my analysis of those Forza Motorsport settings on PC with a Fanatec ClubSport 2.5 wheel: The device settings of 100% for everything are a good baseline to start from. This sends full force feedback signals from the game to the wheel.
The vibration scale of 80% prevents vibration from being too strong or distracting. This is a good level.
The 100% force feedback scale maximizes the forces felt through the wheel for the most realistic sensation. Good setting.
The steering self alignment at 100% helps the wheel straighten itself out nicely when letting go. This improves realism.
The mechanical and pneumatic trail scales of 90% and 110% give a nice balance of forces through the wheel as you turn. They seem well tuned.
The 86% road feel scale provides good simulation of road textures and bumps. Not too light or strong.
The load sensitivity at 68% makes the weight of the car influence the forces in a realistic but drivable way.
The 14% wheel damping prevents unwanted oscillations or vibrations through the wheel.
The center spring scale of 9% gives just enough centering force without being too strong.
The 85% dynamic damper setting helps even out unwanted force effects.
The 50% steering sensitivity and linearity give a good 1:1 input ratio without being too twitchy.
Overall these look like very well balanced force feedback settings for strong, realistic but drivable forces from this belt driven Fanatec wheelbase. The vehicle specific 95-100% FF settings are optimal for maximizing feel in each car. Great tuning!
I tried a lot of set ups from various forums, and this is what I came up and feels good to me. I tried to aim for some lively feedback and a clear and easy indication when I’m losing grip.
Technical set up
Xbox Series X, CSL DD Pro (8nm), WRC Wheel, McLaren GT Wheel, QR2 (I am mentioning this because I think it makes a huge difference in the finer force feedback details, especially when you’re coming from the QR1 light)
Driving assists
ABS: off
Throttle: off
Steering: Simulation
Traction control: off
Stability control: off
Shifting: manual

I hope these settings help to get a starting point.
May I ask you, guys, why do you keep Steering Self Alignment at 100% 60 % 50%, etc ??
The car is driving for you, which is weird, imo
The alignment force is the “master” slider for the mechanical and pneumatical force. What do you mean the car is driving for us?
For all who have the Force Feedback Scale at 100 you should look at the in game FFB graph, the graph goes nearly in every corner to 1 what means clipping, you should lower this. I’m going with 60.
I was wrong
After playing with the settings for many hours, days… I have to say, the FFB is absolutely amazing
The " steering self alignment" works best ( in my case) with FFB inverted
Hi everyone in this thread, I have a Thrustmaster TS-XW wheel, would some of everyones Fanatech settings work on this wheel? Pretty much on default settings now as I havent changed what I don’t understand.
fanatec csw 2.5 here
i hate the sudden drop of ffb when understeer so i almost got rid of it with these settings
I just set up my 2.5 today for Xbox and trying to dial in the settings. Amazing that it works pretty well on initial connection. I’m using some the numbers here as a baseline as I’m not sure how much the PC values transfer to Xbox. So far, I like it! Much more than a controller. The Formula Mazda specifically felt pretty awesome. Had a great race at RA and the precision was fantastic.
How did you setup fanlab with the game? Also is the rpm led working on your wheel?
