Leaderboards Poll: Have your say!

lol, yeah but youre crackers

you’re

57 is a significant proportion of this forum’s active members and the Rivals event I run on here consistently generates interest.

I am sure there would be a number of people from here willing to contribute to official engagement to improve the rivals part of the game. Could you point us to such a poll and we can help make the game better, which I would assume is what PGG want?

its already been said this isnt the place to contact the developers, its great youve run youre own wee poll but its pretty brass necked to assume someone will pass on information the developers are not only very already aware of, but have also addressed. Im not going to bother anyone to tell them something they already know so they can tell me something I already know, ie ā€˜we know, we are working on it , no other info to share atm’

Poll was never needed but if you havent got a wooden spoon i suppose a pole will do

  1. This isn’t my poll.

  2. The poll (and comments) goes beyond just removing cheat/glitched times.

  3. Max is a Community Manager. I’d be pretty astonished if part of that role isn’t to gather relevant community views and feedback as appropriate. If it isn’t, what does he do with the results of his own polls?

  4. It would be more helpful to thank anonyyymous for creating this useful poll, rather than take the mickey out of them for doing so some 5 months later.

i know it isnt your poll and obviously the data and the official polls max runs are collected and used however I also recognize the actual intentions behind these polls.

To answer your initial question of where should you make suggestions ? in the suggestion hub on the left of the screen, max has spent ages setting it up or via a support ticket or if its something thats gaining traction and hasnt been looked at or mentioned before (although max will catch most things) you can ping me and ill pass it on.

Firstly this poll closed 5 months ago. Secondly your response reinforces the idea that devs don’t listen to us. I honestly don’t even know why you replied…

ā€œOwn wee pollā€ lol? I have run some of the biggest polls for FH5 on these forums in terms of votes. The biggest having just under 300 votes. Think about that for a moment in terms of the number of users on these forums.

No you don’t recognize anything. You think I’m a troll which couldn’t be further from the truth as I’ve had to mention this to you in the past. The polls I’ve setup in the past serve as a way to try and determine what the community think/feel on a given topic. I put a lot of thought into these polls to the extent I intentionally put negative choices at the end of the poll such that if users want to vote negatively then they need to choose the last option. I also provide options such as ā€œnone of the aboveā€ and even include additional polls at the end asking users whether the poll reflects how they feel.

Honestly I find your comments in this thread somewhat disrespectful. My advice to you is just stop talking. You’re digging yourself a hole.

Remember you’re a mod on these forums WSD. I haven’t mentioned this to you in the past but sometimes you don’t act like a mod. You recently engaged in a long drawn out off topic argument with another member on these forums which break many rules on these forums. Step up your game and have some respect.

And lastly to completely ignore the results of polls I have created is stupid and seems quite arrogant. These aren’t my polls. These are polls I have created with no biase that have been voted on by the community. In many cases the results from the poll have surprised me and have not been what I expected.

The big difference between me and you WSD is that I don’t speak in riddles. So how about this. I look at the state of the game and I see you. I look at other users comments on the decline of this game and I noticed a trend again with you. Coincidence I think not…

How about doing something constructive on these forums like I don’t know um helping people? Then again I help quite a lot of players but apparently I’m a troll with a hidden objective to take down this game for reasons I’m not aware of because I regularly play and enjoy this game. In fact… Go outside. Sounds like you need some sunshine in your life.

I think youll find im just as entitled to an opinion as you.

Yes you are entitled to your opinion but that’s not an excuse to sometimes act the way you do when you’re a moderator of these forums. I don’t care to ā€œdiscussā€ this matter any further with you, but I hope you take note of a few things I’ve mentioned.

[Mod edit - WSD - Thanks, but please dont get involved just use the ignore button  ]

As somebody that works at a racing game studio, while community conversation and feedback is useful in many cases, I often find that people vastly overstate the importance of their feedback/polls/petitioning, simply because they don’t know what happens to said feedback once it gets seen internally.

As Windswept said, the game has over 20 million players, and while they obviously don’t all visit the forums, the forums themselves are but a tiny sliver of the feedback resources Microsoft, Turn 10 and Playground Games have access to, and as such cannot be extrapolated to fully represent the playerbase.

I can’t speak for Turn 10 and won’t try to, but from experience what’ll likely happen is that threads like this may get added to a community sentiment report, and if sentiment across the board (ie: forums, twitter, YouTube etc.) reaches a critical mass then the topic of a feature may get escalated to some sort of design discussion. It all depends on how each studio does their LiveOps and similar regular meetings, really.

Also, consider the fact that bug fixes, features and quality of life improvements are usually designed, prototyped and planned months (sometimes years) in advance, and each individual developer’s workload is planned and tracked to the day. They cannot simply down tools, pause whatever projects they’re working on and start changing something that probably needs 3 layers of approvals. We as fans looking from the outside also have zero idea (because it’s none of our business) if the designers that work on leaderboards have been shifted to other parts of the game, or even off the game entirely to design aspects of the next game’s leaderboard system. For all we know (other than the bugged times) the leaderboards may be working as intended and thus no changes will come.

I could go on but I think you get what I’m trying to say here. In summary while this is a popular poll and may be good qualitative/quantitative feedback (it’s more constructive than a bunch of feedback they get, but that’s a low bar to hop over :slightly_smiling_face:), that alone doesn’t justify that the topic of leaderboards get elevated to a C1 or C0 JIRA ticket, especially when the game has several issues already.

The studio (presumably) doesn’t work on a petitioning system and likely have their own visions, priorities and roadmaps to consider before even paying attention to a thread like this.

Besides, Playground have already spoken about future plans for Leaderboards recently, not necessarily in terms of a design overhaul, but rather the cleaning up of suspicious entries. Putting my thoughts on a betting slip I’d say that’s the scope of what will happen as regards Leaderboards in this game; I’m personally not expecting any further changes.

If you want some constructive feedback from me, take this thread, put it in a ticket, and send it to Forza Support. That way it’s officially logged as a suggestion in tier system and you can hope for the best after that.

That the leaderboards contain cheating needs no study at all, and can be seen internally. If you work for such a company then you know that these things usually get fixed without any polls at all. Plus it’s only going to take about 1hr to fix the majority of the boards if you just fix the obvious bad times.

I’m really not sure what needs to be examined when it comes to cheated scores on any of the leader boards.
It can easily be seen on literally any stunt leaderboard, impossibly high speeds, jump distances, drift scores. I recently looked at a speed trap, I believe the one in the middle of the freeway, and there weren’t realistically attainable speeds (about 306 MPH or so) until nearly 600th place. The top speed is like 12,000 MPH; it doesn’t take a detective to determine that isn’t possible. Same thing with danger sign jumps that are several miles or drift scores in the tens of millions.

Scrubbing times is the easy bit. Quashing the methods that made them possible is the tricky one :slightly_smiling_face:

Bugs made them possible, going through the scenery, and checkpoint bugs. They aren’t going to be fixed, so nobody really asked for them to be fixed.

I would just like to thank those players who have voted on these polls in the past and hope the polls were interesting. And if you’ve wondering why I haven’t created a poll in a while it’s because nothing has changed in this game to talk about… Go figure.

Cleaning leaderboards was mentioned as a priority as far back as the first community update in December. It is true that they did patch some of the early exploits, but stopped short of removing illegitimate leaderboard entries and as far as I can tell, they haven’t made any meaningful progress since.

Actions speak louder than words. Even just removing some obviously dodgy times would show some level of commitment to resolving the issue, but from what I’ve seen it seems they are content to sweep this under the rug. As a customer, I don’t have the right to demand that leaderboards be the highest priority, but I believe I am well within my rights to point out publicly that so little is being done relative to how the issue is described as a priority in official messaging.
