i think there should be an option to filter specific makes and models in each PI class on the leaderboards…it can stop all the complaints about cars being overpowered, and enthusiastically murdering the term " leader board car "…this game falls under the category of simulation right!? so why not make it so people can run make, model, and PI specific times on the tracks…its my belief that this franchise is still driven by putting a car on the track and trying to run it as best as you can, weather you run times or run door to door…it would be nice to have it make sense, instead of the inevitability of one make and model sitting in the top 100+ until you release another car that can finally overtake and eventually replace the previous one…i don’t know, am i wrong in thinking that by starting with the leaderboard that some of the other things might not be as big of a deal? unless of course you’re talking about the lack of tracks, that needs to be addressed immediately…
I agree. I like some “leaderboard cars” but not others. Let’s say I don’t want to run one of the old formula 1 cars to be competitive on 90% of the tracks in class R rivals. It would be interesting to see if I have the fastest Corvette, or what have you. That or perhaps have the option to break it down by body style or something like that, similar to the career races.
How does that let you know anything? If the top 100 guys all ran the 312 and you are 101 in a vette#4. That does not make you the fastest vette driver. If those 100 top guys all ran the vette as well, odds are you would not be the fastest vette driver. It would just make another list that all the top guys would eventually run and be at the top.
The car is only a tool to achieve the time on the leaderboard, it doesn’t matter what it is.
I would have the basic leaderboards remain the same, showing your fastest lap regardless of car. Then breaking it down further would require fastest lap times to be saved on a per car/body style/whatever basis. At that point I would imagine they might not be able to save replays on account of limited storage capacity, but the data (lap times) alone would make a more interesting comparison as far as how you stack up.
While on the topic of leader board additions – I would also like to see a Track / Ribbon specific leader board for all my times regardless of Class / Car. Is my D car and setup faster than my C and by how much?
I don’t really agree with this. Granted, most of the people at the top of the leaderboards are a step or two ahead of everyone else. However, certain cars just work better on certain tracks. That’s one of the things I’m really enjoying about the game is figuring out which cars to use on which tracks. I find it makes a huge difference.
the whole reason i see this being beneficial is because it takes the car out of the equation…and puts more emphasis on the driver skill, which is the whole point of driving games…i don’t run top 100 times mostly because i run what i want to run like dark armitage, but unless its one of the few cars that run the fastest on the course period…i can’t see where i measure up on the track with a car that isn’t the lightest, most grippy, or has the most horsepower…
just think about racing events like the baja 1000, pikes peak, or any number of WRC events…im just saying it would open things up a bit for those who aren’t scwabbliing over the tippy top of the leaderboard, that and it would be a better judge of what works and doesn’t work on the track just from comparing top times of each car… thus making for more competitive, more diverse door to door racing in the lobbies…
not having the space for it!? this is next gen…nuff said…and shameless Doc Brown quote : “Roads!? where we’re going…we don’t need roads…”
Uh what? You don’t think all the spots at the top are due to skill? Nothing is stopping you from running the top car on the board in Rivals but you. And I get not wanting to use the same lame X-bow or 312 (although I am sure plenty of people love those cars) on every track but its really more of a means to an end. Plus there are car specific Rival events already.
People bring this up and it comes off as you just want there to be some other leaderboard where you feel you would be closer to the top. But if there was another leaderboard all the top drivers would run it too and you would be where you are at on the main board anyway. If being in the top 10 of a specific car is good because 90% of the people in the game have not used it, well I just don’t see the point.
To your last point about seeing what how different cars stack up. That has some merit but I doubt many people are wanting separate boards for that reason as I always see people bragging that they have the fastest “car x” in the game, when in reality they don’t because plenty of people above them have the same cars built and would most likely be faster.
If you put anytime into the game you will figure out what works where and if you cant remember just write down what laps the car does. Would it be nice for the game to have a local leaderboard like FM2? Ya but that is probably very far down on the things that need to be added or fixed.
Completely agree with you method , at the end of the day the fastest guys on the leaderboard are at the top for one reason , they are the fastest! It really doesn’t matter what car is dominating the leaderboards , the sole purpose is to be the fastest in that car! There really is no point in creating a new set of boards just so some players can think they are top in there favourite car only to discover they end up in the same places anyway!
I’m pretty sure that others will agree here that there are more pressing matters to put right with the game as it stands , rather than creating more leaderboards for what is a pointless exercise.
Same thoughts. Very well said. Plus the leaderboards lag already when you filter friends. The amount of addition to the leader would greatly worsen that and to what means? To say your the 100th fastest person to try out a car that most would stray from due to inferiority? Might as well just make your own tune, dont give it to anyone, say your the fastest person to ever use that tune. There just isnt enough reason for it.
I think this is a great idea. It would give the game a similiar feel to what Horizon had with the 1000 club. I would assume they would keep rivals the way it is, but could add the leader board into the car history area. I’d imagine it would be a huge task to put together. If T10 started working on it today we wouldn’t see it till version 6 or 7.
I don’t think we would have the same situation we have today with all the same drivers at the top of every leader board. What??? Do you realize how many combinations of a LB you would have? We currently have 42 tracks and 8 classes (42x8) giving us 336 LBs. Let’s average 3 classes per car…it won’t be long until we have 250 cars…same 42 tracks (3x250x42)…31,500 LBs. If you spent 5 hours a day and just ran 2 laps with an untuned car on every possible LB it would take you almost a year to complete it. You should be able to find some place to get a top 10.
I disagree completely. It would be close to impossible. I don’t care how fast you are or how good you can tune. You’re not going to have a time on every leader board. Has anyone right now raced every car, on every track, in all possible classes?
