It's Over-and-Out from me!

Well, my patience has run out and my frustration has peaked. This game is absolutely terrible! I was so looking forward to the release of Horizon 5 after playing FH4 for about 2 years and I pre-ordered my copy months in advance and watched all the pre-release hype and info sessions on “Let’s jGo!” with great interest. What a huge disappointment. There are so many bugs, errors and non-functioning or poorly functioning features that I don’t even know where to begin. The game is unreliable and on many occasions unpredictable. I think this is becoming evident as there seem to be fewer players (…when the game shows them) than there was at the beginning. I say this because I’m getting fewer downloads of my liveries and tunes than I was immediately following the release (In FH4 the reverse happened).

The final straw for me today was my last attempt with the online races. The delay between races and events was unbearable. I thought it might be better today as it should have been a less busy time, activity-wise, but it was no better than during a peak period. I’ve read and made a few comments on other threads regarding some of the issues encountered. At first, I thought the authors were being over-critical, but I’ve independently come to the conclusion the game is sub-par and second-rate. I’m going to divert my attention to something else. I won’t yet place FH5 in the rubbish bin just yet - I’ll wait and see if there are some MAJOR changes via updates and some communication from either PGG, MS or Turn10.

It’s such a shame they really stuffed up what should have been the best game on the market.

I agree, today was the first time in over 2 years I did not want to play Horizon. Some of the frustration I felt in FH4 doesn’t compare to what they brought into FH5, including bugs and glitches that still remained in FH4 at its end of life. Online wait times in FH4 were just carried over, never even an attempt at addressing them. But unlike you, I didn’t put as much faith into this franchise to purchase the game. I really feel for the people that trusted them enough to pre order, because you can’t even get a refund for buying an open beta. Maybe if enough players walk away they may change, but until that happens, all we can expect in the future is exactly what they handed us now.

I don’t blame you. Will be interesting to see if no major fixes come soon and if that will lead to a mass exodus of players. I’m on the fence myself. Still hanging on with false hope.

i just log in and do the daily, if i can’t do that then i don’t play at all. to relieve frustration i’m just waiting until they patch the game. this is how just about every game is now, it’s not going to stop until there is another video game crash like in the 80’s

Wrong. It will stop when people STOP buying for the sake of it. As simple as that. Me, for example i played FH4 from the beginning, i suffered a lot, like many people expecting the devs to improve something for real, and i told myself that, due to the lack of interest from the devs to support their customers, i will never ever buy another title from these guys. THAT is what everybody should be doing but its easy to just get fooled by the hype, and whatnot, and buy the game without thinking and then complain that we get a lousy product. You are never EVER going to see things improve until people stop buying insanely broken overpriced videogames without thinking. This of course, happens monstly with new gamers. Gamers from the old generations are smart enough (i hope so) to undersatnd how videogaming industry works today.

Every day it’s two or three more bugs found - and big game-breaking bugs, not some nonsense like mismatched calipers. While everyone else is getting banned for things like hoping the first expansion pack will unlock a road out of Mexico, I’m fully expecting my first ban will be related to my demeanor in the bug reports. Getting the same canned carbon-copy responses on all of 'em, so it’s anybody’s guess if they get read at all anyway. :-/

100% correct.
Every time i post an issue i get the same generic responses and then an email asking about how i rate their support !!!
each time i respond with - what support - you haven’t answered ANYTHING !!

lol to my issue they asked if i still have an issue
that’s like asking someone who is drowning if they need to be rescued
obviously most if not all support tickets are being bot replies

The F1 series are simulators and real racing. The Forza Horizon games are just arcade games with hi-def graphics. Might as well be 8-Bit graphics for as little realism there is in them. I am waiting for Forza Motorsport. I heard the switched to the Unreal Engine which may be a deal breaker. I guess I will find out this time NEXT YEAR.

I’ve just been out and purchased F1 2021. I’ve previously played F1 2019 and that was quite good, so I’m going to focus my efforts on the new game for now. It’s a very different experience to FH5, but hopefully, it won’t have so many stupid annoying bugs.

the mods around here need to pass this and with every single members complaints to the devs. seriously!

i like the game but, the many issues have worn thin and are now beyond any of us looking pass them!

No, this thread should be shown to the investors, the devs have repeatedly proven they don’t care what the players think. FH4 ended with many of the same bugs it started with, FH5 started with many of the bugs FH4 ended with.
That alone tells me they don’t care what we think. As long as we pay and play, they will never change because the investors never see the game itself, just a spreadsheet filled with suckers.

I feel everyones sentiments on this.

I do think the game has a lot of potential just not in it’s current state. Give it 3 - 6 months and I am quietly confident we will get a much better game.

It’s not just the bugs for me (which are annoying) but it’s the lack of substance compared to FH4.

I dipped back into FH4 last night after 4 weeks of not playing it and it was strange seeing the old loading screens etc but graphically it wasn’t that much worse than 5 on the Series X and boy it has much much more content. There is just so much more to do and to achieve.

I was compared the 5 Xbox achievement screen compared to 4 and there must be at least double the amount (I know we have accolades now).

Yes there was a lot of grinding in 4 to get things (and I get there is a balance) but even the 5 stories seem tame in comparison to FH4.

I miss the business payouts, the backstage pass, the ranked racing, the series rewards, S7 High Stakes (yes even that!), the extra cars, the simpler playlist, Forzathon Live.

FH5 just feels lost at the moment - are poor shadow of 4.

FH4 had 55 achievements originally. FH5 has 53. FH4 added achievements during it’s lifecycle with DLC expansions, additions and updates.

Last night I hit the point of what am I doing?

I’ve honestly tried looking at things from all sides and tried my hardest not to be disrespectful to players or developers, but I can’t keep trying to keep a smile on my face when I’ve put hard earned money into a faulty product, or that of which is not fit for purpose in its current state.

For 3 months before calling it a day with FH4 in anticipation for FH5 on the 5th November, I tried beating all my PR scores, especially drift zones. So I’d spend about 90% of my time on the needle climb drift zone, just drifting up and down, mixing with others and tuning my cars to test them out.

Yesterday I login to FH5 check my downloads on designs, the odd tune I currently have shared, and then went straight to the Volcano drift zone. After about an hour I went around the other zones, trying to better my scores, my main goal being in the top 1% as I was in FH4. That goal is now made harder by the first few hundred in some PRs being crazy high scores (clearly done by cheating/exploiting). But even with the cheating I’ve made it into the top 1% in FH5 on all drift zones and top 200 in one drift zone. Not to shabby.

However: The Mrs turns to me and says “You bought FH5 just to do the same as you did in FH4, why?”

I couldn’t respond…!

Here I was sitting drifting all on my own (as online is non existent just now), and as I pause the game I’m looking at a map with everything completed, just a couple of weeks in.

Instead of FH5 being this exciting new world, it’s an empty shell, no cars, no players, just me, a ghost town. Anytime I do see the odd player, they vanish never to be seen again, my list of recently played with on Xbox dash is full of names, but I’m seeing no one nowhere in game?

Seasons, used to bring a new challenge, but I’m not experiencing this in FH5, it all looks the same, besides a puddle or a few snowflakes on top of the volcano. I even tried using wrong tyres deliberately to see what would occur, besides the odd power slide I didn’t experience the vast difference you would in FH4 when it was winter.

When I do a daily challenge, I find myself having to redo them as the game fails to realise they’ve been completed. When I do try Arcade, I’m left with an impossible task (I’ve only ever successful completed it once, same with Eliminator). When I try online racing, there is always a cheater in the lobby wreaking it for everyone else (and it ain’t lag causing it, it’s people going out their way to disrupt play).

Besides a list of known bugs, and ones not even within the known section are the cheaters and YouTube creators going out their way to deliberately cause mayhem and exploit the living days out of the game.

Players being banned right, left and center for creating content which replicates actual real cars in the real world. Yet those who upload exploits to YouTube and even sell Modified Accounts are completely ignored, and allowed to continue on their merry way (*cough a certain cactus), but because they are seen as content creators (advertising and bringing in the cash for Xbox/Microsoft and PG) I have to assume giving what I’ve seen they are immune to being banned?

I absolutely love/loved Horizon, I would sit for hours on FH4 drifting with others, visiting areas on the map (there was always something somewhere going on in FH4 to enjoy) and just messing around or meeting up hourly for a Forzathon or helping my son and having a laugh (father & son), but now it’s just me, hacked boards and when I do try online racing I find speed boosters/warp speed/time travelers.

Going away from this is the Auction house, which has been a complete mess even in FH4, nothing changed. The same snipping scripts, the same over inflated tax on sales and the market being flooded with cars that have been unlocked by once again cheaters or modified accounts. Worse is, that if you buy the wrong car in the Auction House you risk being banned if that car isn’t officially released. So some kid clicking away in the Auction House finds a car, buys it, they’re over the moon, only to find the next day they are banned because some cheat put it up on a publicly accessible area and a poor victim bought it without knowing the consequences.

My point is, you can’t turn a single corner in FH5 that a cheater/ exploit / glitch or bug in coding hasn’t already wreaked it.

Its a bad day when you can’t even convoy with your own son who’s only 10 meters away from you IRL because something, somewhere messes up.

I find it difficult to type what I’m about to, but I do find myself turning away from Horizon. The only thing keeping me from doing it is the hope that PG deal with all these issues, the first being removing all the cheats from leaderboards and banning them. Then banning a certain cactus and any other YouTuber who exploits the game.

Funny enough the cheats don’t seem to have any issues online?!? The most I can ask for is at least being able to convoy with my son in game, as due to my disabilities IRL I can’t go out and kick a ball with him etc, gaming on Horizon is / was my way of spending quality time together.

Don’t forget that FH4 has already had two expansion packs and a lot of additional stories brought to the game some time after the release. So of course it will have more content than FH5.

And at the single player side there are not really game breaking bugs in the game. And I don’t know what I should think of players, that cries in the forums because they cannot finish all accolades in a three weeks time period.

It is true that multiplayer is a mess, forza arcade is a step into the wrong direction, and some of the accolades are bugged. Additional to that there are some problems at the auction house on certain game versions. The livery design did not work as it should have like in FH4 and some daily or weekly forzathon challenges (or parts of it) did not register right.

That the multiplayer has problems did not really surprise me, after all the prerelease previews of the game at youtube or everywhere else before the game going gold were still single-player footage. Only PG itself had some edited multiplayer content, but none of the streamers.

So of course the game get it little boring, without any further things to do when the single player campaign is done, multiplayer almost didn’t work and you had 200 000 000 credits and all available cars in the garage. But what is the difference to FH4 there? There I got 986 000 000 credits and 998 cars in the garage - every thing I could have done there I already did twice or more times. Some of the star cards are not longer solvealble as mixer is shut down and some of the multiplayer didn’t work there too.

LOL you all are being so unfair to the devs! Think of the countless hours that were spent on adding pronouns and being able to have a male voice and female avatar. There is so much progress between FH4 to FH5 it is truly unbelievable…

Yup, so unfair… wish i could get my salary without actually doing nothing. Because that is what it looks like, sorry.

Don’t forget the countless hours spent on prosthetics. I don’t get why they can’t just make a car game for people that love cars. I guess it doesn’t matter much anymore anyway, everything is going electric so they can just go record a Prius and put that sound over everyones electric cars.
