It's been a few months, and let's be honest, it's just not fun anymore

I’m mainly talking about the car levelling system. We complained about it from the outset, and Turn10 basically conceded by reducing the levels to fully modify cars by 25. There were still a few people at the time who liked it. I’m genuinely interested to see if anyone still does. It absolutely saps the fun out of the game. Back in the good old days, I’d race my Ferrari or Lambo in career mode, save up some cash, and then have fun modding a crappy old Honda and play with it on the test track. That was fun. You cannot argue that this new iteration of the game has basically removed all of that enjoyment, and replaced it with needless grind. Turn10, you already conceded once, and reduced it by half. If this was a democracy I’d bet my life that the majority of players would like you to remove the ridiculous car levelling altogether.

“…For Car Progression, today we began collecting feedback from various sources on changes that will give players freedom to equip the parts they need regardless of car level. We have additional changes to the system in various states of design and testing with plans to implement these changes as soon as possible…”

Although update 5 is possibly going to fix most of these issues but however I do agree with you , But I wouldn’t say it isn’t fun anymore as at the start of launch it was not remotely fun at first because of the way Turn 10 handled the release of the game with many bugs like the ones in Update 5 unfixed and pretty bad.

But If Update 5 proves to actually fix these bugs that they say they’ve fixed which is alot, then there may be very barely hope for the game and it’s quality of life once they do two more bug fix updates like this one if it proves to be true.

So we’ll just have to wait and see.

Until it is confirmed that they will implement changes to car progression, then don’t expect any changes for update 5. From the way the preview post reads, they are collecting data for potential changes.

It is an absolute shame that they just now begin, over 4 months later, to collecting feedback. I have no words about it…

Not fun at all. I’ve stopped playing. Not sure I’ll come back without major changes.

I’ve reinstalled FH5 and get some racing kicks that way.

I’d rather play Motorsport but the Car XP system and the hollow career mode (among other things) just leave me with no desire to start the game up at this point

I think they were waiting to review sales and engagement numbers after the holiday season, i guess those numbers didn’t look too hot. But they certainly shouldve been working on at least the ai and penalties since launch but they havent. Bop also needs contant tweaking and they also seem to be sitting on their hands with that.

If they want to be competent in the competitive racing scene they need to be on top of these things. They need to be proactive, as of now theyve only been reactive and slowly at that. They let these things get out of hand and its going to be an uphill battle to try to get people to come back never mind keep whoever they have now to stay.

It’s normal. They needed time to make sure, if the negative feedback will actually reflect in sales and the player base. And If they are now considering changes to the car xp, the damage must be visible. And TBH, I didn’t expect Nordschleife to come so soon. I’m pretty sure they were keeping this card to play in much later stage of the games’ life cycle. And now it becomes a lifebelt.

Before they started collecting data, they needed a plan of what they intend to do.

Afterall, those who fail to plan, plan to fail.

Amen to that.
Preaching to the choir.
This studio has been working on this same series for more than 18 years, so they really should be doing much better.

Ok, it seems the most part don’t like the progressing system, me included. That’s the reason why I prefer multiplayer Spec lobbies rather than open lobbies.
However I’ve appreciated that Turn 10 has collected feedbacks and after three months from the game release, which the right time IMHO, they admit a mistake on progression system and will work to improve it.
Now it depends on how much time they will take to improve. I think few months are acceptable for the community, but no more.

It doesn’t even make any sense. The instant you upgrade tire compound and width and the suspension to adjustable, the car handling completely changes. Their ‘learn to love your car’ logic dies right at this moment.

I think the part that REALLY grinds my gears is that I have to level the same model again. Got 2 M3 GTS and the leveling doesn’t carry over. What even is this?!

Just hopping in a car, with 1 opponent 2 laps Mugello = the only reason I play the game to see what my fastest lap time is.
Career mode = as barren as the Gobi Desert and no fun at all.
The progression shytsem = just as bad.

Can you not save a tune though and just flick between the two on the same vehicle?

When you make the same car but with a différent tune + différent livery, it start to be too much, and for the livery you can’t do it while driving, you have to be back on menu

The game doesn’t load tunes and liveries fast enough for this to be a solution. I initially thought this is how the game was going to handle duplicate cars, until I tried switching between two different tunes. The game isn’t built to do this. It’s built from the ground up, to be as slow at loading tunes as all the prior games.

A group of us have raced almost daily for years, since GT5, GT6 on PS, then made the switch to Xbox after GT went bad with GT Sport. Were fairly happy with FM6 and FM7 although there were some minor annoyances. But with FM 2023 we have done minimal racing due to the game not being finished. So far after each update we have one or two nights of racing, all get annoyed with the lack of content (less cars and tracks than previous game), the bugs and faults, and the awful RP style car upgrade system. This is a big downgrade on FM7 and should’ve been called Forza Prologue. We will try again after update 5 in hope… but I guess it won’t be until long after update 10+ that the problems will have been fixed and the game is actually at a finished standard. So I totally agree, “it’s not fun anymore”.

Didn’t think about liveries to be fair. I don’t ont usually change mine but I can see how that would get annoying

I Feel the same way the only thing that keeps me coming back is Online Everything else Just Doesn’t Feel Rewarding they couldn’t even add a xp gain. it Feels Rushed & uninspired

when this game came out i was so excited looking at the car list and some new tracks and some physics changes (cause i hated fm7 with a passion)

i spend 120+hours leveling up like 40-50 cars to make them a A class build .

cars like : jaguar MK2 , austin healey 3000 , renault 8 gordini ,bmw 2021 m3 comp ,2012 c63 amg , ford mustang 90s 4 cilinder turbo ,astin martin db5 , renault 5 turbo etc etc

waited 4 weeks to eventually get a A class hopper

only to find out that the META is broken and all about the OP handling stat.

so with other words i didnt really like the leveling system ( i dont hate it as much as you guys , i just swallow the pill and go trough it ) but i did it all for nothing cause a 180-240hp go kart like a formula mazda or exocet wins everything.

how balanced… not

all my cars i made are now just for show in my garage or for towing the tracktoys of others to the track ( i am never gonna drive a exocet or formula mazda never ever)

thats why i quited
