Is there a way to disable the storm season?

I’m a bit gutted over this, I absolutely hated the snow season in 4, it was super annoying having to skip a week of play every month because it was just absolutely no fun. With 5 I thought that was done for, but it seems this storm season is just snow re-badged, with cars sliding all over and racing being an absolute chore to do.

But 5 seems to have a lot of accessibility options so I’m hoping there’s a toggle I can disable to turn this off ? I’m all for live and let live, but I honestly have no idea how anyone enjoys racing with this!

No, though I can’t really see why you’d want to. Open Racing is not only in the current season, it’s also in all the others.

I’m sorry I think you misunderstood my comment. I mean to change the base game, the open world and all the events you do. Every race I go to is Storm season.

I stay away from Horizon Open - the absolutely appalling way people race during the Trial soured any interest I had in playing with others

Have to say all the seasons feel the same to me. Don’t the storms only appear infrequently anyway? Are we in storm season now? I have no idea.

They did to me, I’m thinking this is a one-off, as I’ve gotten into the game regularly and this is the first time ALL my races are saying storm (plus when it started up the first time, it mentioned how it was storm season, so yeah I’m hoping it’s not a permanent week-long fixture every month).

I’ve seen various storms pop up now and again but never all-encompassing. But moreso, it’s the rain that is bothering me. Storms have been varied, but this I think is a flag to set all courses to feature heavy rain, and that is what is bothering me; it’s exactly the same as the snow racing in 4, with the cars having no grip and the AI just zooming around like normal while you barely grip onto the road.

I fully agree, its hard to tell one season from the next unless you happen to be in a race. When I’m just cruising to tune and test a car I rarely ever even come across rain, let alone any of the more violent weather. Even online racing has barely more than just light rain. Only time I ever experience the severe weather is in seasonal races.

I cant really say I have noticed the weather having any real affect on how the cars drive if I’m honest.

The problem is, the devs keep mixing this infuriating weather seasons with badly designed events, on top of they ignoring the lighting problems at night… etc. AGAIN, i had to drive in chase view one of the events because it was impossible to drive in cockpit view. The problem is not the weather itself, the problem is all the things that pile up because the devs just are clueless about their own game about everything.

I like the rain and the storms, but when you create a blueprint for a race, it can be in any season and weather you want. You don’t have to race in the current season.

All that said, I’m 100% behind being able to choose what season you drive in, at the very least for solo mode. I also think it’s a pants-on-head design decision that we don’t have that ability already.

No, there is no way to turn off the weather.
