I have acceleration axis deadzone inside set to 0 and outside set to 100, but when accelerating, im getting full throttle at just over half of the trigger pull, which means trying to be careful on the accelerator out of a corner pretty is pretty hard. Is there some kind of bug with the deadzones, or is this just how it is?
Interesting. I don’t have an answer to that. I use Thrustmaster TX on FM5 (Project Cars in November), and there isn’t an issues with the accelerator pedal with identical dead zone settings.
It is most likely your controller. Try another one. Ive been thru 3 due to the same problem with the brake trigger. FULL BRAKES HALF PULL = ALOT OF LOCKUPS. I have a good one now where it is full range.
This is most likely the culprit. I have two controllers and the one that came with my Xbone with the Day One logo has much longer trigger range than one I purchased after. It’s not as noticeable on the brake trigger but the throttle trigger is so bad it’s almost impossible to use that controller with TC off. Both controllers have had the firmware update.
There is also an option to upgrade the firmware of your controller which came out a couple of months back but many people missed.
You need to connect your controller to your xbox one with a micro USB cable and go into settings and find the controller upgrade setting. It takes a couple of minutes and once done, you hold power on your xbox one for about 5-10 seconds until it fully turns off. Then turn it on again and after a couple of minutes you’ll be back in game to see if it’s helped.
Some controllers have quite big deadzones though. I’ve taken one of mine apart and tweaked it myself while i was painting it. I discovered it was actually catching the brake trigger on the inside of the controller body, once i cleared that it worked better.
I’ve been having this issue since the console came out. I have four controllers, each one has all the latest updates, my deadzones are set to 0 and 100, and I still achieve full throttle at little over half trigger pull.
I believe that even though they claim everything is 100% new for forza 5 that the developers used the controller coding from the Xbox 360 controller and thus it does not work. If there is an actual solution, I’d be interested to find out what it is since I’ve been having this issue with any controller I use since launch. Again, I have the latest controller updates.
The pad is actually very good quality, Works amazingly well with games like Battlefield & Fifa…I just dont think T10 have programmed for it properly. Forza 6 i’d imagine will fix the issue.
Thought I would post this here as well saying I’m having the same issue. Tried all sorts of deadzone settings. It’s such a pain, especially when accelerating off the line.
Mine is at full throttle even when I’ve only pushed the trigger halfway down. I think the braking is the same but I’ll have to check. Also as Mitchy said above about the controller update, that doesn’t fix anything.
Hopefully this can be fixed through an update pretty soon.
I feel the acceleration kicking in at about 10~20% right trigger pull. And the left trigger brake is so sensitive. I’m now used to it but sure wish there was a greater range of trigger travel.
Is there a physical calibration (or adjusting the sensor) of the triggers?
I have noticed this. Earlier I said that I was at 100% throttle at half trigger pull and I’ve noticed that sometimes this is true. Other times I’ve noticed that I get no throttle until I’m about a quarter pull in and then I hit full throttle at 75% pull and yes, deadzones are set to 0 and 100 which makes me think the game just isn’t reading the settings properly and is applying the default deadzones even though I’ve changed them.
That’s very strange and sounds like what should happen playing with a keyboard that only has an depressed/open setting for any given button. I would try updating your controller firmware again, just to make sure it updated correctly and give it a go. Have you tried a different controller to see if it happens as well?
Maybe try calling Xbox Support and you might be able to get a new controller if this one isn’t working properly.

Updated the firmware and it seems to have solved the problem. I got my Xbone last week and I didn’t even realize you could update the controller’s firmware.
To my knowledge there has never been an official announcement by a Microsoft employee that says the firmware update did anything other than enable the headset adaptor.
It does reset deadzones so they need to be changed again from within Forza.
Other than that I am not aware of Microsoft saying that the update does anything to sticks, triggers or buttons, including sensitivity.
If anyone believes the update does more than the headset adaptor update please provide a source for the claim.
The most common fix I am aware of for the trigger issue is the user squeezing less.
EDIT: here is an article about the update and is theme I find when trying to find official articles about the update Xbox Support
Sorry to dredge up an old thread but I got my XBone and Forza yesterday and noticed this issue immediately. I’m locking my brakes at about half a trigger pull. I have adjusted the deadzones which made a very, very small difference, but there is still about 25/30% of the triggers which are completely useless.
Has this been established as a controller or a Forza issue? It seems strange that some people aren’t experiencing it at all, which would point to the controller. All I know is that it is really annoying and is having a detrimental effect on my enjoyment of this game.
Personally I doubt it’s a Forza issue as I have the same thing happening when playing Trials Fusion, in that game the throttle issue is however a lot more of a problem than the braking as it’s hard to creep away when you want to… (and you’re forced to do a lot more wheelies and I’ve found no way to change deadzones at all in that game)
I’ve learned to handle it in Forza, as Trials craves even more perfect execution I don’t know if I’ll be able to there so this far I’ve tried to adapt my playing style, which sort of works…occasionally…
Hoping that MS will add a general sensitivity control as they had on the 360, otherwise I’d guess I’ll have to wait for controllers from for instance mad catz and hope that changes things.
