Is it worth buying series x?

I’m thinking about maybe buying a series x console. I’m currently playing on an Xbox one and I don’t know if I need the improved graphics, it’s mainly the long loading times that irritates me. Is it worth buying the series x just to reduce loading times? How much shorter do they actually get? Or should I wait for either fh6 or a newer console and hope for a reduced price on the series x? Obviously it’s hard for anyone else to say if it’s worth the money for me. But how would you all think about it?

I have a series x and it’s been excellent. Games (including FH5) run well with very few problems. It’s of course backwards compatible and has a disc drive which may or may not be included in future consoles.
I’d definitely recommend.

No new X1 games coming I thought.

Could wait for the revised xsx later this year

Xsx is an upgrade over the base X1, dunno how better it is odd the 1x tho

The Series X is definitely worth it if you have the money to spend. Everything is faster, especially game startup, tune and paint loading and sharing times.

I think that speaks for waiting and see what is needed when fh6 finally comes. Have I lived with the loading times this far maybe and will survive another year or how long we have to wait for fh6

 yeah in the end it’s all about having the money

Nah, don’t think so

If you want a disk drive then you will probably want to get one sooner then later. The game does load much faster on series x. However it should be comparable to series s as far as loading goes. Obviously the series x will have the best graphics. Once you go to a solid state drive on these new machines you will have a hard time going back. Night and day difference.

It’s not like I use the disk drive. But I like the possibility to do so

But maybe series s is a good cost/frustration compromise for now

With the disc drive you can easily pick up FH1 thru FH3 discs and play them if you want.

For me it was worth upgrading from x1x to an xsx. Before that change I did extend the x1x by a bit by adding an external ssd. It improved load times tremendously. The hdd was having errors that would crash the games. The external ssd is a cheaper option if you want to wait for the next gen.

Then you definitely want the Series X. Buy one with a disc drive, because they’re planning to release a diskless version some time. Then you can still play older games and DVD/Blurays :+1:

I enjoy my X. Its definitely a step up from the Xbox One. The graphics look amazing and some game are locked behind it being next gen. I also a couple days ago bought a PS5 as well. Been with Microsoft since the OG xbox. For never having a Playstation ever in my life its a super good change. I can play FH5 and some helldivers 2 if I please. Not to mention Playstation still sells delisted games xbox took down. Xbox is my home, but Playstation is still fun as hell. If you csn upgrade. Do it!

If the PS5 Pro ever comes out I want to buy one. Never had a PS either. I’m interested in one of those PS3’s that can emulate the PS1 and PS2 too but they’re rather expensive for an old console and they’re said to be unreliable. I’d love to try out some PS games finally

Well, you can use a 7200rpm HDD, although, swapping HDD will destroy your warranty and i recommend don’t do it if you afraid or don’t know how to open up your console.

I don’t think xbox will release a series x +, but you can wait for the series x white edition (no disc drive)

Yes, wait for that.

I recommend you watch digital foundry’s review and of course, dev interview to find out everything you need to know.

even if you are ok with opening up the system, it is still a bit dodgy because the drive has hidden partitions where you need to load the firmware on the drive using a special tool before it will work. Even then I hear it can be hit and miss. MS are very anti-consumer, the expansion issue on the Series consoles are proof of this.

There is a tech channel on YT that went over this last year but not sure of the link because I saw it mentioned in a Loius Rossmann right to repair video

My personal opinion as an Xbox One X owner is not to buy at the moment. Load times are annoying on Forza but I’ve not seen problems in other games so I think this may be a deliberate move with FH5 (it’s got a lot slower over time) to get people to buy a new console

If you really don’t need a new system for compatibility then hold off and wait for the upcoming refresh and pick up a Series X on the cheap. There is always the option of the Series S in the mean time if discs are not required and compatibility is an issue

I have held off buying a Series console because of the extortionate expansion storage system. It’s just designed to milk the player and I really don’t want to support that kind of business practice but I may just get a Series S or X when the next refresh is released just to play FH6 but honestly speaking, if money isn’t a big issue then PC gaming is looking like a better choice with every console generation

My other issue with the Series consoles is the fullscreen and dashboard ads which you cannot yet block on the Series consoles but can on the One consoles
