Is it Possible to Extract Saved Replays for Editing?

Might be a dumb question…

My shared photos are viewable/downloadable from this site, but my shared replays are not? Do I have to do something other than simply share it?

You cant download the replay as its just data that forza uses to recreate the race. If you want to download a video you use Game DVR to record videos and upload to your Skydrive account.

My racing group had a few league races last night and I was hoping to make a small highlight vid of the action. Is there information somewhere that can help me extract the saved replays for editing?

Thanks in advance.

You need to watch the relevant part of the replay, then ‘xbox record that’, then watch the next piece, etc etc. Once you’re all done, you’ll have to splice those together to make your video. Only way to do it currently as far as i know.

Record the replays with Game DVR whilst you watch them, or watch them and then select to record the past 5 minutes in Game DVR. You can then edit and stitch them together with the Game DVR/Upload app.

Not ideal but those are good tips. Thanks for the advice.

You can extract recorded Game DVR videos to your PC though if you upload them to Skydrive at the same time as uploading them normally with Game DVR. Then you just download it from Skydrive. And use an editor on your PC if you want.

There is a Skydrive app for windows that lets it run like a folder on your PC. It’s already integrated into windows 8 iirc.

Honestly, recording from the Xbox One DVR and uploading via the Upload application is far better than anything that was achieved through replay uploads to the ForzaMotorsport.net website on the Xbox 360.

lmao…DUH!

hi all,
like the title says i am wondering if you can take a race that you have saved within the forza 5 game itself and upload it out of the game to Facebook or even to the Xbox one console? if anyone can help i would appreciate it. thanks

Unfortunately without a Render to Site option for the Replays you can not. This is because the replays actually use data about the car and predict how the car handled while you played and uses almost a checkpoint like system to play back your race.

You could use game DVR to record 5 minutes and upload that to Skydrive and if your race is longer do it in multiple clips then edit them together on a PC then upload to youtube or similar.

Personally, I capture the game replay using an Avermedia Game Capture HD device then load them into Pinnacle 17 on my main workstation for editing. Do what you want with the final product.

I use my Elgato HD capture card as well while replaying the race to gather the video on my PC then edit as needed. A second option is to ask someone that has the tools to build you a highlight reel, or capture the footage for ya so you can have it. I just recommend giving them time stamps and possible angles that you want to have recorded.

The Game DVR does HD720p 30fps, and the compression algorithm is excellent, much better than at launch. Choose to do that and Upload Studio it to OneDrive.
