Last night I have lost all my progress on Xbox One too (playing many hours from the release day of game so I was very angry) …If someone of you guys can play FM7 on Xbox and PC, play this game one PC for couple of minutes from time to time. Save data is stored to local drive on your PC and you have full access to it, so it’s easy to make own backup. After wipe on Xbox I’ve opened FM7 on PC and loaded save from local drive. Cloud was synced with my local data and now everythig is fine. Save on PC was from last weekend so I lost 2 forzathon cars and 3 cars rewarded from rivals but 99% of my progress, credits and cars is back, so not bad.
This is very annoying. Not long ago another player from my console lost all data on FH3. I will start doing backups for this game on PC too, now I really don’t trust this data cloud.
I heard one guy (either here or on the subreddit) on xbox said that after he lost everything, he checked his save data on the xbox and there were two save games instead of one. He deleted the smaller one and the game loaded the bigger (original) one and everything was fixed.
I was thinking, also, I have an Xbone and now an XboneX. I should load up the game every now and then on the original Xbox One to have a copy of my save on there and if I lose my save on the X - boot up the game on the Xbone and tell it not to sync… would that work possibly?
Such things can happen in this digital world - that’s okay. But I do not understand why Turn10 does not even apologize to their loyal customers!
For normal products, this would be a guarantee case and in the working world default fees would be paid now.
But what do we get as loyal customers - NOTHING!!!
I’ve just stayed loyal to Xbox because of forza but wonder now if this was the right decision…
Unfortunately, apart from all the technical flaws in the product, even the soul of this product is left behind on the track!
You just do not care anymore about the wishes of the real fans of this series.
I can understand that you have changed the mechanics in the game, but that you do not offer public leader boards , free rivals etc, that’s just not a real forza race game.
In addition,you are not anymore dedicated to the passion for cars! If I look at a car in forzavista I get no more technical information about the car and even the history of this vehicle remains in the dark!
Therefore, I like to think back to Forza4 where all this was still possible and Jeremy Clarkson told funny stories …

I’ve just managed to restore all my progress by deleting the local save (Xbox one)
When i restarted the game it synced with the cloud and everything was back, cars, progress, collector score, the lot. I believe in my case this worked because since this issue started I’ve not played the game, i just quit when the opening credits started.
Lucky you. When my fiance lost FH3 data on Xbox One she closed game when intro started and didn’t play anymore. Yesterday I tried same thing as you, but on PC, where she never played. Game sync from cloud and still intro is loading ![]()

I gave it a try and it worked, my progress has been restored. Yes, when I noticed my Save did not load originally, thankfully I did stop and not proceed forward. My Xbox One Game Save must have been corrupted locally, and was not allowing the good Cloud Sync to work properly.
I looked at the Save earlier, but was waiting Forza Support just in case. I will need to email them right away so they don’t nuke me - luckily they should be gone for the weekend. While I am still piecing this together you can see if your game loads or not on the screen that shows the “Version #” when the game starts. There’s like a Walmart logo (sort of sun/starbust like) load indicator on the bottom right corner , if it stays stationary you may be toast - as this is the bug. Mine stayed stationary, then went to the beginning of the game -again I did not proceed forward from the last week.
Figuring I had nothing to lose, I went to Games/Apps > Forza 7 then Menu Button (little button on the right of the controller with the three lines) > Manage Game > Delete Save. This is for the benefit of users who may not know. I simply restarted the game (not Xbox, nor reset) and saw the Cloud Sync working and taking a minute or two - which I found encouraging. Game finally went through the normal start up and low and behold at the Version xxx screen I saw the game save load indicator working correctly. I had a ton of messages, etc. I checked my level and it showed 191 again!
Again for users troubleshooting on their own, proceed at your own risk. I am going to install the Game on my PC and let it Sync as well. A read a PC/Xbox user was able to restore his Xbox from his good PC back up (cloud sync etc). I am currently lacking faith in Game Developer, and sincerely sympathize with people who have legitimately lost their progress. I hope this may help others who might be in a similar situation that I was in.
I am temporarily elated, and it is really great seeing some of us piece this together and actually make some ground on our own. I am grateful for everyone’s posts and information provided.

So same thing happened to me lost everything, followed the instructions to email my details got no reply. started again and it reset it again shortly after… on my 3rd restart now.
thing is I cant even do the forzathon as I cant afford the car needed to compete. Absolutely awful thing this. I hope they eventually get to my mail and help me get something back at least.
I hope your going to look after your customers turn 10, most affected would of paid and played all your versions of forza, we deserve your attention.

It is funny that players are finding options to get back lost data and T10 still didn’t send any advice…
Is it possible to copy local save from Xbox hard drive to PC?
I am not aware of a direct method to “copy local save from Xbox hard drive to PC” other than by manipulating the Cloud Sync. If saves on a PC can be completely deleted, then a Cloud Sync (hopefully with good data from your Xbox) should provide updated information tied to your profile/gamertag. In essence, I did do this last night when I installed Forza 7 to my PC, and the good Cloud Sync data migrated to my PC when I started the game for the first time.
When T10 solve problem with level , money , car…? ? ?

Well It seems like my save in Forza Motorsports 6 decided to restart from scratch as well, I was just playing it yesterday without this occurrin
Update: I manage to get my progress back for forza motorsports 6 but lost my all achievements, but forza motorpsorts 7 on the other hand is still gone.

This has happened to me this morning, very frustrating.
1st thing I did was hit Xbox support who pointed me to forza forums, anyway I sent the e mail as they requested and then came across this thread.
Well while reading this I had a thought, tried it and it’s fixed.
I did a console reset, keeping games and apps, ok it takes about 10 mins to enter all the info again, but I started Forza 7, the game did an initial sync and I have everything back.
This is worth a try as you are not playing around with anything that might harm your save files etc.

Reply on two e mail. Durther I am waiting when fixes my profile. It’s going on more than week. I am embarrassed rate repairs error. I have game in editing Ultimate , I spent big money to play in the game and what ? I am waiting , when ‘’ maybe ‘’ will spend patch repairman this , but when ??? How much we have wait for it ? to end year…??? I demand as a player specific answers for this problem. Eventually I bought yours product !!!
This just happened to me as well. Can’t believe all the time I have spent on the game could now be possibly for nothing. I do see my save file when I go to ‘manage game’ but it doesn’t seem to be interested in syncing with that whenever I boot up the game, which I have tried now probably a dozen times.
I have emailed the support team and await some feedback.
It really sucks. This has been going on for 2 weeks now and no word … don’t expect a resolution any time soon unfortunately. Sympathies man - I lost everything at Driver level 200 Collector level 23 - but for some reason I am still playing this game … if it happens again - forget it, and I’m heavily invested in competitions etc.
I had exactly the same problem happen to me after I had updated FM7 to the latest update about 3-4 days ago - I had been playing it a few days beforehand and was absolutely fine; my driver level was somewhere around 150 or so, car collector level was half-way up level 39 and I had every car available to me that was unlockable / purchasable at that collector level (essentially every car in the game minus the Forza Edition cars you get from completing the entire career-mode and Forzathons that are yet to be held), all of the speciality dealer cars, every driver suit including the Astronaut and Mummy legendaries and all of the other ones too. I still had my VIP mods for maximum reward payouts from races plus a bunch of mods and I had over 16 million credits - even after buying all the cars available to me. After the game had updated and I started it up I was greeted with the intro movie and realised my progress had been reset when I then got to the menus and saw my garage, credit balance etc was gone.
I am going to be pretty annoyed if I don’t at least get my garage, driver suits, driver level, car collector level, VIP mods and my credits back and if that is not the case I will most likely push Turn 10 for a full refund of the game because I do not have the time to invest again to get all of the stuff I had earned previously all over again after being reset this way. We are talking 100s of hours of racing I did in order to get that stuff, not to mention all the designs and tunes I had created which are all gone now too as some were tweaks I had made to other tunes etc I had uploaded.
I’ve tried deleting my console’s save files but when the console synced with the cloud it downloaded a save where I was back at the “reset” position so I assume I will have to wait now for Turn 10 to restore my save manually somehow or start gifting back everything I had somehow because, for someone who has bought and played every Forza and Forza Horizon ever made and been a long-term devotee of the series, this is unforgivable and will potentially result in me never purchasing another Forza game again unless they can fix this mess.
