First off, I have tried to use the search function, but it it’s continuously giving me error so apologies if there is a post already about this. I’ve played all the Forzas (both the Motorsport and Horizon series) and they’ve all had their pros and cons. One thing that has obviously been a great improvement since the first installment is the amount of layers available to create vinyl groups (not to mention the vinyl editor itself), therefore creating the opportunity to replicate/design detailed logos and graphics. Sadly, detail is lost when applying to to the car with small detail being lost and edges becoming aliased. It would be nice to have a patch for PC players to improve the quality/resolution in which they are displayed. I understand the limitation on the Xbox One due to hardware (although the upcoming Project Scorpio is apparently ‘on par’ with PCs??), but with some PCs being more poweful and even able to run the game at 4K then I think a PC patch would be welcomed by all (this isn’t a console vs Pc war so don’t start!!!) This should be a simple ‘Standard or high resolution’ viewing option in ‘Video Option’ so players can switch between as they wish. I know that not everyone can run at max settings even at 1080p, but I know this is disappointing issue for painters.
I don’t play Forza games on PC … only XB1 … but the quality degradation when applying vinyls to cars has been an ongoing issue since FM5 (in my case). It is extremely frustrating and I know that many many requests have been made over the years to make improvements in this area … and unfortunately T10 has never done anything about it. What’s even more frustrating to me personally is the fact that we painters don’t have the ability to paint cars with the same options and quality as T10 does when they create liveries for cars. We can’t apply decals to windows or windshields. We can’t apply decals to many specific parts on many cars (wings, body kit parts, etc.) Our created decals are of much less quality and detail than T10’s decals (like manufacturer’s decals in the editor). Just give us access to the tools that you have access to …
I don’t think the problem is X-Box or PC, but the online storage. Your shiny ultra-detailed vector vinyls will be converted into an ugly low res texture to save bandwidth and storage space. I gonna test a custom city-race with cars from the All Stars car pack only (those actually have high res textures) and see if it has any impact on performance on Xbox.
If it really had an impact on the game, the solution would be easy: they could save two textures, low res for freeroam/race and high res for player car/photomode.
