Hi, this is the first time in 3000 hours of this amazing game that I have a really serious and absurd problem.
Randomly during curves in horizon open and horizon tour, the car stops steering completely in the direction of the curve (left or right, it does it in both) the car completely stops steering in that direction, the input is completely missing and I have to stay with the stick in neutral for 1-2 seconds to be able to steer in that direction again. It’s very annoying and makes online races unplayable.
I tried with 3 different controllers and all three controllers work great with other games.
Then I really, really tried every possible and imaginable variable : restart the game, restart the console xbox serie x , complete shutdown and unplugged for 30 seconds), reset controller,recalibrate the controllers, update controllers (again after full reset), play with cable or wireless, reset console, reinstall game, play with manual, automatic or clutch (I usually play with manual clutch), change all the parameters in the controller game… and many many other things that I don’t even remember them all but ask me and I’ll tell you.
For the record, it seems to me that the problem started after updating the 3 controllers and during this series of the game.
Help please, I really don’t know what else to try (sorry if my english is not great btw, but I think it’s decent enough to explain the problem and make me understand, believe me anyway that I really tried everything and it’s not easy to write and remember everything, sorry even if I wrote the topic wrong, it’s the first time I use this forum)
I answer to myself (and this is very sad, I hoped that at least someone had written something, even as “moral help”)… I solved my problem.
I had basically been signed up for the xbox insider program for a couple of years, this allowed me to get updates before others, updates that I couldn’t skip. After unsubscribing from the program, I then proceeded to reset the firmware of the elite controller (for the record, it didn’t let me do the same procedure on the other pads) and that was enough, I hope I can be of help to others

Hi @LyotoTech . Insider versions of any software (also know as alpha or beta versions) have bugs and issues, because they’re still in the development process and unfinished.
This issue was existing in the past - but it was solved for me more than a year ago.
I did read your post and I voted for it back then anyway - waiting how many others would upvote it, too.

I was and I am in the Xbox Insider program. As I wrote this issue was there but it is not since more than a year.
Back then it was annoying (though not that often). After a lot of controller updates - I am using both standard and Elite controllers - it vanished. In the release notes of the controller updates I remember were entries mentioning the issue - though not specifically connected to FH5.
What still could be a problem on your end (please do not feel victim blamed - that is not what I want!!!) that there is a lot of signal interference at your place so that it still happens despite all the past controller updates. I swear you that it is not happening anymore over here. And I play FH5 a whole lot!!!
it’s all clear now, I can understand that the game didn’t come out yesterday but it’s 3 years old, so it can happen that a problem has been addressed and discussed in the past. No problem for me and thx for the answer, at the end of the day I solved the problem and that’s enough for me, now anyway I know how to behave in the future if it should happen again, thanks again
p.s. there is a user in the fm forum who has the same problem, I hope he can solve it in the same way, he said he will try this “method”
Yeh this issue is still here for me and has been for about 6 weeks now…9/10 it works fine and then out of nowhere I cannot turn left at all and the car just keeps going straight on…usually happens during a trial event
this is really annoying me to the stage where l don’t want to play the game anymore. i am not on any insider programs either
I’ve tried multiple controllers and it still happens.
this game has gone to crap with all the bugs…bad enough this week the trial doesn’t even count if you win
Sad to read that… mmm you can have 10 controllers but if you can’t reset the firmware it’s all useless, as I have already written in the past I have 3 controllers but only with the elite I managed to solve the problem with the reset (on the other two the problem still persists because the reset is impossible)

Ok now I’ll explain everything to you but be careful: I’m Italian and the names of my menus may be slightly different from the English ones.
But BEFORE start is very important that you unsubscribe from the developer program… in fact their latest update was the real cause of the problem, if you have never been subscribed to the program then your problem may be different from mine.
Connect elite 2 to xsx and press the “xbox button logo” on the controller, than go to “profile and system” and open “xbox support” , from press RB and go to “support request” . Then open “hardware and network” one… from here go to “controller” .
Select in order :
1-update xbox wireless controller
2-I can’t update my xbox controller
3- my controller is having connection issues after the latest update
4- … and from the new page press on “check controller firmware”
… and then the console will tell you something like “before you begin…resetting is not recommended unless you have frequent connection issues with non-xbox devices”
