I don’t think anyone plays any Forza for its story. At least in this fifth that to me has been more or less “make it stop” moments when the dialogue starts and missions are 99.8% point to point race within certain time limit.
Often times however the game allows you to cheat your way and allows crazy corner cutting and you can basically treat the mission as a Trailblazer event and be done with it fast and get easy 
when it wont glitch out thru.
the venom mission. any time i used time reverse action. all cars would vanished. i was able to replicate the bug really easily.
then the rimac mission. first time i did it. i hit the line in time. it said i failed it… like not even showing gold screen.
3 Stars for all, no car reward/unlock.

To clame the car you need to go to the Accolades.
I recall I had about 20 near misses. I recall there was a similar story in Horizon 4. The only way to 3 star was to be in solo mode before starting the story. This then gave you a lot more traffic.
had to re do that race 10 times…
I’m having problems with the Napier misson. The closest i have gotten is 46 seconds and with that I am accelerating as hard as I can, change gears within half a second of reaching the redline.
Does anyone have any pointers to help?
I did it in one run no problem. I’ve seen people, who are religious fanatics about manual, say they had to go auto with assist on to get it to work. Incidentally, I run auto with assists on. So try auto with assists on.
Just maintain traction when you first get off the line and only make corrections when necessary. Do that, and you’ll get three stars in no time.
And don’t hit anything.
Make sure you hit the bit of dirt track near the end of the run. It gives you substantially more grip than the sand.

And drive close to the water if possible. The sand there is flatter and harder.
I always drive manual no assists, and the best I could do after around 6 tries was get within .2 of the threshold for three stars.
Turned on TCS only, got it first try, easily. Turned it right back off.

You need a bit of a light foot on the gas 
and max out the speed on second gear, if you shift to third to early you never make it.
This. Ride the revs in second to about 188kph before shifting up
I think its unfair to blame the game for your lack of throttle response. There is also alot of people who could pass that run on first try with all helps off and manual. I did a solid 43.1 in my second attempt and thats not bec the game is 2 easy for me but i have the skills req to drive with all helps off.
Im not trying to be rude but in some cases it’s the driver who needs to improve, this is one of those times. There is no shame in not being able to do it with all aids off.
