I think it's time for a standalone creation app.

I believe a design editor app should finally come into play. Reason being is that with Forza games now coming over to pc, you know there is someone out there already trying to figure out how to exploit that option. At least with the same options that the design editor that the games have, but it would be nice to be able to add in saved pictures. That’s just my opinion.

I think this could be a really good idea, because with all the new customization coming into the game I think Forza could make an app kind of like what The Crew said they were going to have but never happened. I think you should not only be able to edit liveries but you can also create vinyl groups, and with the introduction of Blueprint I think it would also be cool to create events on your phone, tablet, etc. and then race them later on.

It’s a cool idea, but is there really any demand for wanting to make vinyls on the go on your tablet? It would be rather fiddly on a phone.

Tuning and customization while I’m on lunch seems ideal.

I believe those wishing to have great designs on their cars should perhaps learn to use the editor instead of seeking out shortcuts that remove the artistry from the process.

But that’s just me.

I see this attitude expressed from time to time, and I must respectfully but emphatically disagree. I’m a professional artist. I’ve done a few elaborate designs in the Forza editor - mostly in the Forza 3 days. I know how to use it well. Not sure if there’s any way to see those old designs online but I’ll attach one. I’m not saying I’m the best artist in the world but I think you can see that I know what I’m doing.

I made this for a challenge to create an “alternate-dimension” Dukes of Hazzard car… instead of the General Lee it’s the Professor Einstein.

And you know what? It takes me at least 10 times as long to make a nice image by painstakingly sliding around gradients with a game controller as it would in a proper image editing app. Doing things in a way thats a PITA does not make me a more skillful artist than someone who uses proper tools. You want to keep spending an afternoon making something that can be done in an hour? Then why not drive a kid’s pedal car to work instead of a car with an engine in it? How about going out to sea on a paddleboat instead of a sailboat? I understand if that’s your preference. But don’t try to get condescending and say someone else is cheating by choosing to use tools that they don’t have to fight against.

You want to keep using the in-game image editor? Keep using it then. I’m a grown man with a kid. I need to economize my time. Don’t try to tell me that tying my hands makes me a better artist. The whole point of playing on PC is to have options and freedom that aren’t available on a console. I’m not even a PC-is-superior kind of person. It’s just obvious.

Amen to that. Those people feel special using the incredibly limited and frankly Stone-Age tools to create liveries, and fear that accessibility to livery creation may kill their special snowflake status.

And frankly, if they think that being able to import images remove all skill and work involved, they’re dead wrong. I used to do liveries in TDU2 and I made heavy use of TexMod to import sponsor logos, and it DID involve quite a bit of work:

  1. The livery itself (the decals, the shapes) is still better done with in-game tools.
  2. Some of the more obscure sponsor logos are hard to come by, or come in such low quality that it has to be heavily touched up in Photoshop before it becomes usable.
  3. God help me if I’m trying to recreate a game/anime/etc. livery. The decals used are INCREDIBLY hard to find, and often has to be cropped out of [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] videos and fixed up in Photoshop.

Yes, there is ultimately less work involved, but that’s because the tools I used are less idiotically limited - shapes are being used for just shapes, instead of also having to be used as a makeshift, very bad drawing board.

Also the game runs by having the paints made up of vector shapes. There’s no way to do that with importing jpeg’s etc. So it would require the whole thing being rebuilt from the ground up and as Hieronymus said, removing the artistry and skill along the way. If you can’t paint now, practice. Most of those awesome paints you see have taken years of practice. If you don’t want to put in the effort, you’re in the wrong franchise.

I’m just saying to at least have the same kind of design editor that is also within the forza games, but at least be able to work from your pc. There are people in the Forza community that make some amazing creations using that editor and I don’t want to take anything away from that. However, there a people that can probably do the same on their computer.

^I’m going to college and have a full time job. It’s a bit difficult to go and create something in Forza that I can easily create in Photoshop in 30 minutes. I’m currently having a summer break, but that just means I’m working a lot more and I still don’t have time to go and spend 5-6 hours on a paintjob (unless I have a couple days off and I’m bored out of my mind) that I can go and easily create for Live for Speed in under an hour. That, and the controller is just weird to use for me. It’s fine when I’m driving/flying in a game, but anything else it feels off.

Am I the only one who would leave to see a companion app that allows you to upgrade and tune cars anywhere? Often I spend hours in the Xbox building cars when I could be doing it on my commute.

I still believe that a design creator app should come into play. What good is having the tools to create if you can’t use them. It seems to work well pc games like Grid 2 and Project Cars, and even before those games, EA had NASCAR 09 with the ability to create your own liveries where you could create from the web and have the livery downloaded to you Xbox 360. So, it can be done, so why not?

Q: Will there be an app that can be used as a map, livery editor, etc?
A: “No plans for a companion app as such” other than Forza Hub - Ralph Fulton video interview: We Preview Forza Horizon 3...Again! | MotorworldHype

First app we need is an auction house app IMO. I wanna browse through cars on my iPhone while at work.

Wouldn’t mind a forza rewards app for android

Will there be a companion App available at some point?
Some basic features that would be nice would be:

Available cars in garage
Access to the showroom for new vehicle upgrades and purchases.
Upcoming community events
Daily or weekly check in prize spins
Available DLC’s and car packs.
Link to the forums

Just some thoughts. Would be glad if other community members have any more items to add that they would like to see in a possible companoon app.
